  • “This is the life I’m getting to live, and so if this is the thing I am doing I want to do it full gas. I don’t want to be sitting on my rocking chair when I am 95 wondering what if or what could have been if I just had just given it a little more” - Courtney Dauwalter
In this episode I got to run with and talk with ultramarathon runner, Courtney Dauwalter. Courtney shares her zeal for life and passion to live it to the fullest. She candidly discusses her race experiences, obstacles her body has faced, how she’s overcome and her mindset all along the way. Courtney credits an amazing team and community for her successes and places utmost value on her family. If you are an athlete of any kind, you will be inspired by Courtney’s persistence, determination, success and positive outlook.

The end made me think about how many times we really dig way to deep in what upsets us while carelessly walking by the many things that we take for granted, rather than being grateful for the many things we have and can do, and instead we focus on the things we don't have and can't do.
A few days ago I was terribly cut off in traffic by another car and was completely upset about it even long after it happened. Then I realized that the fact I am upset about such (inevitable) things is the perspective. - Instead of digging into the misery of that one incident where I got cut off, I thought about the many times I wasn't -And I cheered up.
I wouldn't be upset about anything if it was the standard. The reason we get hung up and often focus our minds on misery is because misery is not the standard. Still a lot of people act as if that was the case.
I wouldn't be put down by the lows if there weren't any highs and I wouldn't curse about how I'm hot in the summer if, at the same time, I would keep in mind how I might as well be freezing in Winter.
I do not only believe, but I know for a fact, that in this world there are still more dreams than nightmares coming true. We just need to stop magnifying the nightmares.
