For new players: at 1:07:55 when hitbo tried to sell the ashen chest to the gold hoarder but couldn't, that's because it goes to the NPC in front of the Tavern. She's also where you can spend the currency called doubloons .
Sorry, but I call them blagoons. And always will.
Larinna is the NPC liaison, and leader, of the adventurous Bilge Rats. She is found standing in front of every Outpost Tavern offering Voyages and running the Black Market.

I love the idea of safer seas.
I do hope many new players can learn and spend potentially thousands of hours in this safe mode having a great time.

It's an MMO so whenever people play by themselves it doesn't keep the game alive it's keeps it dead... because no one will be playing together... think about it 🙄

Your literally missing half the fun and content of the game... I've been checking in on SoT every so often for years; waiting to see a decent single-player option for this game. For the most part, I'm just not into PVP or co-op games. I own and enjoy hundreds of games, but I emphatically avoid multiplayer-only games. I finally noticed the "Safer Seas" drop. and gave a little silent cheer. I picked up the game at full price yesterday because of it. Your intro to the Safer Seas content hit the bulls-eye for me. I am smack in the center of your target demographic for that. Thanks. Just got back into the game because of your channel and I think this series is a great idea for new players I wish there was something like this when i first started playing. I remember always struggling trying to level up the season pass as a new player and always tried to do it more effectively so if you could add it in a future video I think it would help out a lot of new players if there trying to do the same.
this may have been one of the better intro-to-a-game videos I've seen. Great pace, patience and explanations. Just picked this up for PS and I feel ready for the adventure. Thanks!

I love the Safer Seas mode, it gives me a chance to tackle ALL the Tall Tales, Commendations and events that I avoided due to getting destroyed by other players because I am not good at PVP at all. I hope they raise the Gold and Reputation values to 45-50 percent because even though I am enjoying the game again, I am struggling to make money and rep for my remaining Trading Companies. If they also decide to, limiting our ranks for all of them including Athena's Fortune and excluding Reaper's Bones (mainly because its a PVP company) to rank 50, so that newer players like me can get to Pirate Legend in Safer Seas.
I don’t think you should be able to get PL on safer seas, but a gold increase could be nice.
After gaining Pirate legend - it will make no difference - you can only do the legendary athena quests in open sea's mode - (those are needed to level up AS a PL), which i think is fair - after all... the old PLs didnt get to where they were without high risks, or being a bloody good thief! (yes at one time - if anyone knew you were on a Athenas quests - that legendary athena chest was a tasty morsal to grab -if they could). I can relate to your minor annoyance though - i was after a certain figure head for a good whiles...finally got it last night - (have to be a PL lvl 10 to get it)....i just waited until i knew the seas would be rather quiet ;)...Got a msg of someone afterwards stating "sold your stuff 🤣" ....I sent one back "yep i did 20 mins before you took a look 🤣" What they didnt realise was - i had spotted them shadowing me an hour before - didnt let on..then lost them then sold it hahahaha "there are times in ones life when one must realise the value of guile and cunning"

Great video...bought the game a few years ago to play with friends but ended alone because it was to "complicated" and they tired really fast. Now i can learn and hopefully bring them back XD

If I ever run across you in the game just say hi and I will sail over and just give you my sh_t right away. No point otherwise as I have some mobility restrictions and while I mashed the buttons trying to find a weapon you would have taken everything, sunk my ship, and ripped out my soul and made tasty Soup with it. Happy Sailing and I will pray we never meet in game.

Great video. Especially liked the specific explanations instead of just a blanket statement like I’ve seen before.
As a former D1 strength coach, we would always limit the wider arm position for the simple fact that the chance for a shoulder injury was higher. This was especially the case for the overhead athletes like pitchers and swimmers. Did this possibly limit how much development we got from the lift? Sure, but we also had very few shoulder injuries and that was the main objective of the job.
I loved this, it was so handy! Literally everything is a little confusing in the game, and I don’t even know what exists or even how to access content in safer seas, let alone high.

Sup hitbo, really fun video I got to watch it while at work. I do enjoy your guide videos quite a bit, but they’re all for beginners and are usually regarding PVE and quick ways to make money. Have you ever thought of making a PVP guide? I just got done assailing a galleon as a solo sloop and lost.

I think what Rare should do is after you pick your pirate, it should automatically put you in the Maiden voyage to teach new players how to play, then get them to descid where they want to do from there, just like Minecraft used to do with the tutorial words.

Highly appreciate this guide! Subbed! ( long textwall incoming )I admit have done some High seas alone and a bit of Safe seas with my younger sibling, she learns fast! Gonna share this guide anyway, since there were tidbits I picked up 😆 BTW Im a mid 30 guy who long wanted a pirate game like this. Before it was Sid Meiers Pirates! And a small Xb game called Pirates Booty? A fast paced Arcade pirate game back in the games. Only gripe I have with SoT is VERY shallow weapon/ upg system. I KNOW balance-equal footing but still alternate upgrades, more different weapons, ships all with pros and conc with some stats to compare/ balance with. Still cosmetic ONLY microtransactions. Also wish for monstetous " Moby " whales and killer whales. Zero excuse not to add such beasties. In real life sharks get hunted too and noone have done uproar against that? 🤔 Anyway, hope for more guides! 😊

great vid. should maybe amend it with you doing a sea fort and a treasury as well, since those are probably the best activities available in safer seas for making a little gold and fun.
Well that’s is quite interesting, being a beta player I actually had fun watching! It gave me so much a nostalgic feeling of the days we only had OG Forts, no emissary (Well no mega kegs and bone dusts…) but still pretty cool feeling :)

Safer seas is great! My dad and younger brother and I enjoy this game but don’t play enough to be good at pvp. It gives us an easy way to enjoy the game and play some missions and do fun stuff without worrying about someone with 1000s of hours stealing everything we own. I do think the rewards should be a bit higher though, 30% is rough.
Just started playing on ps yesterday, finished maiden voyage and went strait in high seas. Started a tutorial quest from voyages and got attacked and destroyed by a 3 man on the way to my first island... I don't mind pvp but damn, need time to learn.. looked up guides and this one came up.
Even though i'll prob stick with high seas since i want the extra gold & rep, this guide covered everything I wanted to know! Ty, Like and sub deserved

Just started an love the game I got melted in my first fight haha but I managed to hit them with a good shot this was pretty amazing and I will be honest I don’t care getting melted the first 50-100 times that’s how you learn it
i started the 12th for the closed beta on ps5 that ended the 15th i understand mostly everything i just need tips on like what are the best chests? can you explain the reapers/athena fraction things?

My only gripe is that you can't take your Captained ship into Safer Seas. It would be nice to at least allow newer players to be able to add accomplishments to their ships while they're away from the High Seas. (Tall Tales, especially)
Starting on ps. Solo at moment. No one to play with and show me the ropes so I'm here lol. Would it be helpful to start in safer seas then switch over once I get a hold of how I can manage my ship solo and navigate seas. I hear some ppl say u should just jump in. But idk I feel like it may be easier to start in safer seas
Hi, in PVE if you blow up another players boat or multiple boats. Do you go get their loot or just leave? Or stay and fight them for the loot?
In PvE if you sink a skeleton boat you get their treasure
Newbie here and just started playing the game today. I've done the tutorial missions but the game continues so is this Safe Seas or High Seas game mode or is their a third one that leads straight after the tutorial? Currently seen no Character creation as yet.
From maiden voyage I believe you go right into safer seas.
If I play safer seas just to learn the game and get experience, can I transfer my character and gold over to High Seas later or have to start over completely?

First, can I just say that your new pirate has excellent meaty forearms and hands. Second, I think you should explain to new players that progression is all cosmetic only. There's no power advantage to buying expensive ship parts and weapons, it's just to look good.

Safer seas , solo player.
First. When im playing. I have to keep changing the camera view. Where im looking , or the whole screen shakes up and down. Very aggravating.
Second.
After my first campaign. Which was malee island , new things opened up that i can do. One is gold hoarders. It gives me a map. It tells me to press L1 to get my radial wheel up and to go to map. I have no map on my wheel and nothing for quest .
Can you play the tutorial at any time to get the gold if you didn’t get it when you first started?
Yup!
Side note turning down the fov can help with tricky treasure maps just remember to turn it back up whenever finished finding the treasure
you can now zoom in on the map so no need.

I've not played this because the PvP aspect of it all kinda put me off, but I might give the safer seas mode a try and see how I like it.
A couple of questions: 1) Why is it bad to leave your ship anchored? 2) Doesn't leaving the anchor raised cause the ship to drift, or is the sea simulation not that realistic?
More of a good practice if you ever were to jump in to high seas. It’s good to have your boat ready to fo
@@HitboTC Thanks. I probably won't bother tbh. Great video, but I don't think my poor gaming skills are going to help me find much joy trying to solo this with the amount of enemies it throws at you. That world event seems way too unbalanced for noobs and I'd definitely not be able to complete it.
I'm sure it's fun for guys who know what they're doing... but it's still looking like a big no for me, sadly.
@@HitboTC Actually, I take it back. I decided to give it a try on Xbox GamePass and it's actually okay. I've died a couple of times, but it's not felt unfair, and both tims I respawned back on my ship and didn't actually lose the loot I was carrying because it was still floating in the water where I died. Not tried a world event or ship to ship combat yet, though. Closest I got to ship combat was taking post shots at the rocks on a beach while I was sailing past, to see if I could hit them for target practice.
Pro Tip:
Set the sorrows treasure on the bow or somewhere to allow the tears to go overboard.
It is risky in the regular world but if successful, you will not need to scoop any water.
The golds such a grand but worth it for safety, I want to be a captain before I go to higher seas, I'm up to 84k gold so far whoop xD - Thor
Bro I can’t buy voyages at the dudes, there is the option to talk to them but that leads to some textlines and a option to buy some stuff but that’s not the voyage window as shown in. The video, anyone can help?

Ancient skeletons are in Safer Seas as well as High Seas.
What is the purpose of gold? What is there to buy except cosmetic items and supplies?
You also need gold to buy a ship if you want to be a captain (available only in open sea's mode)

Been enjoying Safer Seas, will never go back to High Seas. Started day 1 of original launch, quit about two weeks later, have dropped back in for a day or two probably once a year since launch, never stuck because toxic clowns ruin everything. Safer Seas is everything players like me ever wanted, even got a bunch of my friends to come back for safer, playing in full groups has been so much fun we been logging in every night for a couple hours.
Seal Clubbers cope and seethe elsewhere, your days are numbered lmao.
Is there a way to save your progress?
It's a mid demo mode. They really don't want you playing how you want to play. This mode has so much cut out
I’m not getting the buy a voyage option, I talk to a gold hoarder and there’s no speech decision to buy a voyage
I didn't now two things. That gems are sold to all merchants and that the sword attracts lightning.

If you dont get the gold from the learning scene in the beginning how do you purchase the first voyage? Do you still get gold if not looting the first learning chapter. Also playing skull and bones learning how to "lead" my shots i think will give me advantage in this game as skull ajd bones may be harder to play. When players can attack any given time. I was on a dhow that has no cannons. Literally jist spears to get fish, crocs, hippos and sharks and get coconuts , bananas whatnkt. And this player kept attacking me 1 shot kill its a dhow lol...cmon. really? 5 times in a row i spawed there and boom. Not cool. Respect players and power. I hope sea of thieves is same way. Once i enter the pvp realm

The skeleton ships pop up way more often along with megs everywhere.Not sure why but maybe because you are single player.I don't do high seas there is nobody to play with so what is the point,you get smacked being solo.Getting your ship blown up before you even get to it can be a drag.Problem is most would rather troll than even log on for gold.They just want to ruin your day.When you are attacked with nothing on your ship it is a troll.I get the stealing and thieving,but there are too many trolls in the game,just like rust.The way it is.

On safer seas? All of them.
That keeping the sails straight was debunked, it actually does not make you go faster when you cannot catch wind. Also the brig is the fastest vessel out of the three ship types.
