Just watched it! CGI will never ever replace pratical effects and puppets, they are perfect! I love Larry
This is amazing, but I get stuck on how the puppeteer literally has his head up Larry's ass and I can't stop laughing

I love that Larry was a practical effect infused with technology in post-production. It works well with the films theme of technology eating up our lives.
Hi Jacob! I just wanted to tell you how much me and my friends loved Come play. It was one of the first movies to be in the theatre when it opened and we always love seeing something scary. I recommend Come play and we had a blast! We all jumped out of our seats and my one friend got so scared when the skeleton face jumped out when Oliver was using the filter that she dropped all of her change out of her pocket. It was like a waterfall of money. But the part that we all thought was the scariest was when Larry jumped out of the grass at the end chase. For me it was the scariest movie of last year. Congratulations on making such a fun great classic horror movie. I can’t wait for what you do next! 🎥 🍿💀😱

Love this movie! This and pandorum are the most underrated movies. Shame the covid BS scared everyone away from the theaters 😢
It's always breathtaking how the young talented actors bring such a great acting performance in such a scary film.
That's why I like to see the young kids in their role.

I saw it in the theater and it scared the hell outta me!!! I thought Azhy was really autistic!! I have a small case of Asperger Syndrome but I have a great full time job and get along really well with others at my job! Been working in a casino for 14 years now
This was fantastic, Jacob. It's really inspiring to see how short horror films on CZcams turn into features - you and Sandberg are legends for making it happen. I would love to see another video going more in depth about how you actually got the short to turn into a feature, I love those stories so much.

Just saw this and loved it. Not gory, but very very creepy. And so refreshing to see a horror movie that was about more than horror - the ending was moving and made me cry. Also, great performances (the kid actors are amazing!) can’t help loving “scarier than a burrito!” 😂

The climax was so so sad ....me and my sisters literally cried a lot 😢😢... When she gave her hand and told I will be ur friend I just couldn't stop crying from there till the end of the movie .....after that I went and hugged my mom :)still couldn't stop it ....it was so heartbreaking this was a very very very good nice fantastic movie ....I never thought ghost films would be this heartbreaking and awesome at the same time ....I loved the movie very much

I am 13, this movie was a Horror-Thriller, that was full of such suspense and jump scares, the ending was actually pretty amazing.

Wow Awesome hard work for making Larry as a puppet, it must of been hard to get 4 puppeteers to be in working together to operate him I've not watched the film yet its on Netflix I will check it out.

I just watched the movie last night and had a blast. The story felt like a combination between Spielberg and King where where one part is a story about family where the parents are having some marriage trouble and it's effect on Oliver (Spielberg part of the story) and the other part of the story where Oliver is trying to tell them there is a monster in the house (the King part of the story). Of course that's only up until the sleepover when that both parts of the story become the part where the story is a hybrid of Spielberg and King.
Another thing I loved about the movie was its portrayal of autism spectrum disorder. The reason I'm saying that is because I'm 21 years old and am on the spectrum myself. Although I'm not non verbal like Oliver, I did see bits of myself in him at that age. For instance I did go to speech therapy. I did love watching SpongeBob (which I guess I can say come play is my second favorite movie featuring the yellow sponge) or any show where the main character is different from everyone else). And when I was about 2 or 3, my parents did have marriage problems (which lead to them getting a divorce). Of course there were some effects they're divorce had on me like not experiencing to sleep over at friends house (which I didn't get to do until I was in highschool). Which kinda brings up the fact that when I was in middle school and highschool I often ate lunch alone. I didn't mind if other people ate at the table.
Any way that all said, back to what I liked about your movie, I loved the choice of having Larry not only being a practical puppet (which by the way the Jim Henson Creature Shop is a good choice for bringing a 2D image into the real world.) but also kept in shadow alot which not only allows the viewer to fill in the blanks as to what he looks like up until he's revealed but also makes the dangerous situation the characters are in a bit more real. Of course the film's editing also helped with this too which by the way now I don't know if it's the studios or the director that chooses the editor for a film, but having Gregory Plotkin was a good choice as the editor for your movie. I say that because a few days prior to watching your movie, I had finished watching the a bit over rated R-Rated found footage franchise Paranormal Activity in which Plotkin had done the editing for 2-6 (as well as directing Paranormal Activity 6) and he didn't do a bad job at putting those films together.
That all said this film is just absolutely incredible and I'm definitely watching this again.
P.S. after I watched the movie I re-watched your short film Larry, you based the movie on and it's definitely tied at number one on my favorite short horror films that got adapted into a feature film along with the short horror film Lights Out from David F. Sandberg.

Hey man, I really enjoyed the film! I was wondering if you could give any pointers to making a feature length movie because myself and my friends are planning to create one. Any advice?
Do readings of the script asap and revise, revise, revise. Shoot scenes on your phone first and cut them together to make sure your ideas will work before you’re spending a bunch of money on the actual shoot days. Cut as you go to make sure you’re getting everything you need. Save inserts for the end so you don’t waste actors’ time. Those are a few things that come to mind! Have fun!

@@ollliiiiveeeeeeeeer the skull filter was vfx so it doesn’t actually exist unfortunately. We just wanted something simple and bright that would stand out against the darkness of the closet.
