Newcomer Azhy Robertson stars as Oliver, a lonely young boy who feels different from everyone else. Desperate for a friend, he seeks solace and refuge in his ever-present cell phone and tablet. When a mysterious creature uses Oliver’s devices against him to break into our world, Oliver’s parents (Gillian Jacobs and John Gallagher Jr.) must fight to save their son from the monster beyond the screen. Because of ambience. Most houses in middle class society have same floor layouts. And the scenes are usually shot in the dark when it comes to horror so that may also be why it seems the same

Critiql - Brawl Stars dang. I didn’t think it was that similar until now. Still cool I guess.
Listen, this movie is worth the watch. It's not what you expect it to be. The moments of tension are so solid, the characters are fantastically human, and the emotional beats are incredible. I cried watching this. Horror that can make you feel a range of emotions and depths? That's good horror.
Something like Babadook? Psychological horror with that emotional depth that the biggest horror is always in our heads.

This is not just a typical horror movie, it’s a story about the importance of having friends so you wouldn’t be lonely ,and the unconditional love of a mother 💖 The ending made me cry 🥺

I watched the first 40min so far and this movie does horror really well. It doesn’t do cheap jumpscares. The jumpscares feel appropriate when they are revealed. The plot well is simple. There doesn’t seem to be any loopholes in it so far

I highly recommend! I thought it was gonna be trash since the trailer showed a lot of good parts, but it was actually really good!

My little brother and I just watched this and it was amazing!!!! I loved how it didn't have a corny ending like most horror movies and to me that just kills the entire movie idc about potential lol. I felt horror, sadness and happiness what a great watch!

I wouldn't go so far as "masterpiece." I mean, look at Anthony Perkins's speech to Vivian Leigh in "Psycho" from 1960...I've watched entire movies that aren't that unnerving.
But I think it's worth a watch. From the library, anyway. Free :)
They don't write scripts that well, or have anywhere near as brilliant a score as Bernard Hermann (Psycho).
Please watch it from the beginning. Library has that one (or can get it for you, too)

What excites me the most about this film is the moment at 2:16; I think creating an atmosphere of creepy is far more important than a jump scare. If this film is like this the entire time, I will definitely see it.
Probably why they put that moment in every single trailer version.
My kids are autistic, the subtle movements of the actor are very on-point. Finger movement while on the phone, the way his eyes moved but not his head, the isolation, the fidgeting at his desk, the long hair cause children with autism hate haircuts. They even have a para next to him in class! Movie studio did their research 👏 Looks great!

IM SO GLAD THAT WE DECIDED TO WATCH THIS MOVIE! It’s definitely hard to find any decent horror movies these days but this one is definitely a watch! I felt almost all the emotions watching it, the characters are very realistic and were very well portrayed!

This movie shouldn't be shown to certain children and only at a certain age. It's enough to give them nightmares and specially for some who have photophobia - a sensitivity to lights. This story was a sensitive one about autistic children but they kept it at a minimum with the bullying and the results of one of the kids having his mind opened to changing his thoughts towards his friend I found refreshing. Many children even without mental issues suffer tremendous loneliness in childhood, and grow up stunted, maladjusted etc... and there are always others who will take advantage of this. This story was well written and acted and was at a good pace and the scares jolting. The skeleton/tree stick had its cause and effects for sure. Enjoyed it but again do not bring or let young children watch this please. Thanks.

Honestly, the babadook was just plain horror and suspense to me. This movie gave me an all round feeling, and the ending felt wholesome, I teared up a bit.

Im such a horror fan, and as a mother of an autistic 5 year old . .. I think this is awesome that our babies are getting their chance to be represented out in the world. As long a its a positive character. It reminds others that Autistic people do exist and this should be normalized. I love how the main characters are a mother and son. Reminds me of me and mine. Theyre both going to kick that things ass together.. watch!!!

I'm a real big movie reviewer and was worried it would be some half as* indie movie. I was worried about the lack of reviews. Oh boy I was wrong. This movie is in the top 5 scary movies. Start to end the movie got better and better as it went on and DIDN'T LOSE ANY STEAM like other low funded movies. Great camera work, CGI and a perfect cast! The movie is so good I actually wanna research the producers and writer. Please make more movies! The writing was clever like the stud laser finder showing the measurements of the creature coming towards him the dark parking lot. I loved the clever part of the monster talking to the mother and him by taking pieces of words from the TV running . I guarantee you will like this movie. I never really thought I would rate a movie so high but 10/10.
