    I’m the odd one here that really enjoyed both Titan films. I grew up with the original and thought it beat it hands down!

    Would have been cool if they went crazy with it and put the 3 movies in a small guitar case shaped box

    Passed on the Mexico Trilogy because of the box art. Preordered The Titans on blu-ray for the box art and booklet. The Wrath title was a giveaway for the newer movies. Born in the 70's, grew up with the old Clash, Jason & The Argonauts etc... those were great movies.

    "Desperado" was shot on 35mm film, perfect for 4k. I think the reason why they didn't bother with the other two movies, despite lazyness, is because "El Mariachi" was shot on 16mm film, and "Once Upon A Time In México" was shot on the ugly digital cameras used for the "Star Wars" prequels that had a native resolution of 1080p. Though you can still extract grain detail from 16mm scanned at 4k, as "The Evil Dead" 4k release proved it, you can't do anything with a 1080p source, that's all the detail there is, upscaling it only generates "waxy" looking result.

    The newer Titans movies are entertaining as hell and im hyped! Even though i would like to have the original packaged with the new ones as well. Loved the coverart.
    NONE of them were actually great movies, not even the original. They are just very entertaining with great effects, both the original and the newer with CGI.
    For the record, calling Clash of the Titans from 2010 a box office bomb is just straight out wrong. It made around 500 million dollars on a budget of 125. So no wonder it got a sequel, the sequel didn’t do as well though.

    I'd definitely buy the 7th Voyage of Sinbad in 4K or Jason and the Argonauts, I'd even get the original Clash of the Titans if it was made available. Any of the others would be instant buys as well Golden Voyage of Sinbad, Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger, the 3 worlds of Gulliver.

    Sam Worthington is a great actor, he’s up there with Jai Courtney, Jason Clarke and Joel Edgerton

      respectfully no he's not. Worthington is very bland. Not a lot of range.

      Yeah, I disagree also... Jai Courtney is up there with Brando, Denzel, etc. and while Jason Clark is a great actor, he relies too heavily on his raw sex appeal.

    I passed on the Mexico Trilogy with a saddened heart. El Mariachi (my favourite of the trilogy) is still not in its original aspect ratio (it should be 1.33:1) and Desperado is still not the uncut version Rodriguez handed in to the studio when the film was completed (apparently the climax was heavily edited due to the violence, which is why it ends in such a goofy way).

  • @jamespetkwitz8737
    @jamespetkwitz8737 Před měsícem +4

    Honestly I completely understand why El Mariachi and Once upon a time in Mexico are only in Blu-ray
    One is a 16mm low budget action film that probably will never look much better than it's Blu-ray it it was scanned at 2k. The 3rd was shot on digital video in 1080p.. so a good Blu-ray release is really all we need

    The original Clash wasn't an awesome movie either but holds that same nostalgia for us who grew up in the 80's as the newer ones do for the people that were growing up in the early 2000's.

    El mariachi was shot on 16mm,and probably on cheapest stock.Also possibly OCN is lost.So,remaster of 4k from old 35mm interpositive or HD master might be not a great idea.And Once upon a time in mexico shot on first gen digital 1080p cameras,wich were sharp but poor dynamic range wich doesnt really gonna bring much benefit for 4k transfer.However,Sony might release it themselves individually

    Bought the bluray of desperado about two weeks before the 4k announcement.

  • @Book553
    @Book553 Před měsícem +3

    Once Upon a Time in Mexico has a 1080p digital source format. You’re never going to get anything better than blu ray quality, making a 4k disc completely pointless. I think you’d actually get more out of an El Mariachi 4k since it was actually shot on film, but I digress. Desparado is really the only entry in that trilogy where a 4k makes sense.

    Yeah I was super confused as well when the Clash of the Titans set dropped because boy did it look like the original movie. I'm also scratching my head as to why these titles, and this is coming from someone who actually like Clash. It just seems like such an odd choice for a 4K version

    “Desperado” is mostly forgotten because Rodriguez is such an inconsistent filmmaker. Once upon a time in Mexico is a disaster, I’ll never forget walking out of the theater and my buddy punching me in the arm for picking the film. I’ve never wasted another minute of my time even thinking about it until now.
    Dusk to Dawn is a very fun film and so was Sin City, but then I disliked Planet Terror.
    He’s just never risen to the level of his pal QT.
