In our current understanding of the world we can’t consider the discoveries we make from the study of human behavior an exact ‘science’ because there can never be a true control group when studying it. Doesn’t mean the findings aren’t valuable.

As someone who missed out on ever listening to O&A live, but has been binging every bit of content since finding them, this call is beyond refreshing.
Not only was the female guest by far the best I’ve heard to date, her ability to roll with jokes and even contribute, her passion and drive for her work, and her actual knowledge while not drowning out the show.
The boys were impeccable in this one, able to still joke around and poke fun while giving the respect and genuine curiosity this interview deserved. I was low key terrified when I heard jimmy asking for page numbers as I was actually enjoying the conversation and was pleasantly surprised when I didn’t hear a book being torn apart moments later.
All in all one of my favorite, non bit heavy, clips I’ve found to date. Thank you for the upload 🙏
It's great because it would have sounded like any other of their joke interviews, and it started off like any of them, except she genuinely won them over by having actual answers to their questions they thought they were leading her into jokes with

It should be pointed out that handwriting analysis is basically useless except when identifying the sex of the writer. Any other traits or ideas gleaned from it have been proven to be baseless and not admissible in court.

There's also a huge difference between this 'graphology' bullshit - determining personality from handwriting - and Document Analysis, which is determining whether someone wrote something by comparing it to another document they wrote. Federal Document Analysis is a legit science that too often gets confused and conflated with 'Graphology'.

She sounds more like an astrologist than a handwriting analyst.
There's a difference between 'Graphology' and 'handwriting analysis' - the latter is actually called Federal Document Analysis, and it's what the FBI use to determine whether two documents were written by the same person. FDA is a legit science and for the most part it works, but FDA doesn't purport to tell you jack shit about the personality of the guy who wrote the documents - that's Graphology, and Graphology is 100% horseshit hokum. People confuse the two fields and Graphologists encourage the confusion because they love riding the coattails of FDA analysts.
She's quite the minx in that photo, so I looked her up to see what she looks like nowadays. Basically she aged 30 years in 10.

In fact, that person is closed minded - closed minded to the _real_ science that is going on in the background that explains the results they find so compelling (i.e confirmation bias, pareidolia, etc).
Graphology is bullshit. That's not ignorant, it's not closed minded, it's simply a fact based on all available evidence. There is no evidence anywhere they it works, and plenty of evidence that it doesn't.

If this following bit is true, I can't see how it can really hold any weight: I maintained that research into the neural substrates of writing and personality actually supplies some of the best arguments against graphology. For instance, brain damage can alter either writing or personality, independently. There is no evidence that if a head injury affects personality, writing will necessarily change too-as it should if graphology were valid. Furthermore, there is no reason to suspect that the brain mechanisms responsible for writing and those for temperament and aptitudes could be linked in the lockstep fashion necessary if graphology were to be taken seriously. An interesting conversation, though graphology is widely seen as a pseudoscience now. Most of those interpretations sounded a bit like interpreting poetry, though the "Devil's Fork" thing was actually fascinating.
