- Dirty mode encoder switches is a common problem on Funai made VCRs with these chassis from 1993 - 2000. These mechanisms can be found in Funai, Symphonic, Sylvania, SV2000, Philips Magnavox, White Westinghouse, LXI, and even Hitachi branded VCRs. This video will show you how to fix tape eating issues in your Funai made VCR from that era.

You Did a Good job buddy
I just had to help a friend of mine fix his VCR with the first Gen mechanism, and I shared this video with him.
Was the repair successful?
@@TheVCRKing I hope he does well, he said he might attempt it, he basically uses it to watch some old vhs tapes.
The correct year is actually 1992-1999 for this mechanism. 2000 was the redesigned mechanism.
Wow thanks for the information. How did you know, did you work on these in 1992 to 1999. Or does it say this on google
@@VCRGame88 Teac MV-425, MV-525, and MV-625 were made in 1992 with this brand-new mechanism. These were the only ones that you insert a tape at the left side instead of center.
Nice fix, I’m not familiar with that type of Funai vcrs
Funai VCRs tend to have a bad reputation, I disagree with that because they're easy to service, have common parts and simple (but functional) mechanisms. I have a fairly late model Funai which has seen very high (nearly every day since new being used) mileage that's still going strong with simple maintenance. It's what I've used to upload most of the videos on my channel.
It's the same story with walkmans, the best walkman is the one with simple guts, the DD models are certainly high quality but once something breaks it can be a living hell to fix, i prefer that ones with belts.
I can clean mode select switch with a WD-40?
No you cant.
Ay! Where did you get that transparent vhs casette? I would love to have one for testing.
They can be found in Funai made VCRs. They can be branded differently depends on where you from.
Good job I don't no if you no this you can get vcrs new vhs movies plus vcr belts and recording vhs tapes offline you bay all that off your phone I still bay vcrs and vhs tapes never ever locks up at all I had seen specially when they scratch up
hello the vcr king i have some vcr i even have a vcr dvd combo
What model is that VCR???
It's a Philips Magnavox VRZ220AT21
Why not show us how to make the worm gear durable?
It's actually not the worm gear. It's the pulley. It is held with a cheap plastic piece that can break.
@@TheVCRKing why not show how to stop that from falling off?
@@SavageGame1998 Maybe next time I get a VCR with this chassis I will.
How many ribbon cables are there?
On this one, there are two.
Thanks
I have 25 vcr combos and they are all broken!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well I could throw away my funai unit and get a betamax
