WCW vs nWo: World Tour is a professional wrestling video game released in 1997 for the Nintendo 64 game
console. Released at the peak of World Championship Wrestling's dominance in the Monday Night Wars, World Tour was
THQ's first foray into the N64 wrestling scene and is a semi sequel to the lesser known WCW vs. The World for the
PlayStation. It is considered the American counterpart to Japan's Virtual Pro Wrestling 64 and is the second
best-selling wrestling game for the N64 console.
Asmik Ace Entertainment and AKI approached the title by producing a wrestling game similar to Puroresu and fighting
games. The resulting game was well received for its tight construction and ease of play, especially compared to
Acclaim's comparatively more difficult and convoluted game, WWF War Zone. In fact, the playing style of World Tour,
namely its revolutionary "grappling system," set a standard for pro wrestling video games to be expanded in future
THQ titles for many years following.
World Tour served as a strong foundation for future THQ wrestling games. Its sequel, WCW/nWo Revenge, would built upon
the engine tremendously by introducing ring entrances, improved graphics, more arenas, more signature moves, actual
WCW championships, attire modification, and other improvements.
The first in a long line of Nintendo 64 Wrestling games from AKI and whilst it was a foundation
for future titles in this series like Revenge, Wrestlemania and No Mercy, it's still a pretty good wrestling game
for multiple friends to play with.
Now what I did here was use Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, Saladin who is Abdullah the Butcher, Black Ninja aka The Great
Sasuke and finally the stupidly long and hard all wrestling championship won by one of the greatest wrestlers of all
time the Macho Man Randy Savage.
This longplay is a tribute to his charisma, intelligence and great ring persona on and off the mic.

This game was the beginning of something great. The THQ wrestling games on N64 are still the best to this day! We wasted countless hours of our teenage years playing them, and it all started with this one.

WCW vs NWO wasn't anywhere near the quality of all those games that guy listed, let alone of high enough quality by itself to get a system for.

+Tracarris Wince This game had a lot more playing time on my N64 than Mario Kart 64. 2nd was probably Zelda just because it was an action RPG.

I only had Mario 64 & Rampage but I rented this game & Revenge A LOT.
I had Turok 1, Mario 64, Mario Kart, Ocarina of Time, World Tour, and Revenge. My best childhood friend had Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Ogre Battle, WM 2000, and Starcraft64. 2000's were a hell of a few years. Gettin' high and playin' the golden games. Haha. Cheers.

This was one my favorite wrestling games back in the 90's. The wrestling realism for its time was fantastic. I played as the ninja mostly!
Black Ninja and Hannibal were my main two guys in this game. Good times, these were.
Both guys existed in real life. Black Ninja is the Great Sasuke and Hannibal was Hayabusa. Sadly Hayabusa died some years ago

10:21 was my fav music in the game. I remember being in middle school and bringing my 64 so me and my buds would play on fridays since we had a kick ass teacher.
You see how old the game is right away. Scott Steiner with dark long hair and original body before he bulked up 10x.
I still play this today. It's such a classic. Still fun!

This game definitely had the best menu music out of all the THQ made wrestling games
Me and my family used to go to Misty and Chad's old 🏡 in 🇬🇪 and 🇹🇩 would plug in his Nintendo 64 and play WCW vs. nWo 🌎 Tour and get past the League Challenge, but the 😭 thing about that is that we never got to see the closing credits!
I wish this game was rereleased on the Nintendo Eshop with online multiplayer.

I remember playing this with my best friends Josh and cam when we were 10 at Josh’s house for his bday in his kitchen. Such better days back then.
This game was the best for game play at it's time!! WWF No Mercy took the Game Engine and did EXACTLY what you'd want from a sequel and gave you plenty more options for customization and levels. No Mercy wouldn't have been made with out this :D

I'd have like 30 minute matches with friends and family since you used to be able to tap the control stick to get out of pins and submissions right away. Hollywood Hogan vs Sting, what their Starrcade '97 match should have been. Hogan was so done that he tapped out immediately to the Scorpion Deathlock, hitting the stick didn't even matter after half hour. Wish I could have recorded it, it would certainly be better than anything on TV today xD.
I’ll never forget that sound of BLONK! Where you know you just got knocked out. 80% of the time you were out of the match for good. But oh that 20%!
Loved that sound of the ko. One of the reasons why this game was better than all the games they released after it.

Love this game so much! Best wrestling game ever. The engine is so great allowing so much variety between matches and wrestlers styles. The sequels have more features, better graphics, more features in the wrestling engine itself but this game just nails it!

The first wrestling game i owned as a child...got my n64 for xmas with my 2 favorite games at the time, mario tennis and this👌
I loved having the rosters for IWA and Michinoku Pro in that game. I was just starting to learn about Japanese wrestling at the time, and loved playing as Taka Michinoku, Dick Togo, Hayabusa, Great Sasuke, Tenryu, and Abdullah the Butcher.
Also the Japanese version (Virtua Pro Wrestling) had most of this roster, and added a ton of wrestlers from the world making to equivalent to a FirePro game. Sort of a WCW vs NWO World Tour expansion pack.
AHh I remember this!!!! Oh how the music brings me back. Look at those graphics lol.

This is probs my favourite 90’s wrestling game. I know it’s popular to say Revenge is the best but I played this one the most. I found the modes the most fun and the control system was great!
I was unbeatable at this game. I searched for a competition. Use to use Norton. My timing to reverse punches and grabs was second to none. The timing on the later versions didn't need to be so precise.i recall rocking over to my mates brother's house where he and his buddies played the later version (revenge?) all day long. Withing 10min I was kicking their butts by reversing all of their moves. I'm looking to get a N64 just for this game, golden eye, Mario cart and Perfect Dark which I believe was the most underrated multi-player shooting game of all time
Whenever I saw that trophy with the hand raising it back when I was younger I use to think the triangle shape on the left of Ric Flair on the trophy was telling me to push the down c button lol.....took me a while to figure out it was just the trophy.
Still the best wrestling game I've ever played.

This is a great game. I own WCW Vs. The World for PSX, which AKI also did, and it seems they transferred the gameplay from that game and translated it well on the N64. The only problem here is the character models.
AKI did not develop the PS1 version, hence the reason why the 2 different versions have totally different gameplay. The ps1 version was beyond horrible...
But AKI, then known as The Man Breeze, DID develop WCW vs. The 🌎 for the PS1!

This game took up so many hours of my life as a kid. The four man battle royals were mindblowing back then. The one thing this game did better than Revenge was it let you wrestle as Hulk Hogan properly without his bandana. In Revenge you couldn't take it off. Hogan never wrestled with a bandana on!
My older sister, my godbrother, cousins, and I would all gather round the TV with this game popped in setting up CPU tournaments and then taking control of the winners of each tournament, with loser going with a partner to go buy pizza. Real fun times, I really miss being a kid.

I remember as a kid I used to play this game for hours upon hours! (Xbox OG was out and we owned one) man I don’t think I can play this game for more than 5 minutes now lol
how come on zero of these playthroughs do they show all the weapons you can use just by going over to the fence where the crowd is and press the top c button?! its so much more fun and is a great aspect of the game

Come to 💭 of it, all of the AKI 🤼♂️ video games, the WWF/E SmackDown, Smackdown vs. RAW and 2K series, WCW Mayhem, The Inland-developed WCW video games, WCW SuperBrawl 🤼♂️, WCW 🌎 Championship 🤼♂️, WWF War Zone, WWF Attitude, ECW Hardcore Revolution, WWF WrestleFest, Legends of 🤼♂️ I and II, the arcade version of WWF Superstars, the Rare-developed WWF video games and the Sculptured-developed WWF video games are the best ever! They should do HD remastered versions of the AKI-developed WCW and WWE video games from 1997 to 2000!

They clearly should've made the roster more like the Japanese version. I mean who wouldn't want characters like Terry Funk, Vader, the Road Warriors, Bruiser Brody or Stan Hansen as well? Also Dead or Alive wrestling was based on FMW which more or less influenced ECW (See Dark side of the Ring: Onita and FMW), and Independent Union was based on Michinoku Pro (an independent wrestling promotion in North Japan).

I was born in early-January of 1989 & as long as I've been both following & watching pro wrestling, I don't recall ever seeing Ric Flair do anything like that in a match.
