    Very clean 06' man! I have the same year and model. Bought it from an estate sale in 2015 it had 65,500 miles and has only 128,250 now. Emerald green with the spoiler on back, very clean! The family said it's been garage kept since there mother bought it new and same here. And you were saying about Non-Ethanol gas it's like night and day I found a station here in town that sells Super and Regular and its a lil pricy but well worth it i dont drive the car daily so.it doesn't hit the ole.pocketbook to hard! Its an 18 gal tank so when i get down to a 1/4 put split the difference with regular and then finish it off with the Non-Ethanol Super! Big difference running that then running Ethanol! I'll post some pictures when I can figure it out lol.

    I'm retired and on my third Taurus. I've had two 1999s and currently driving a 98 SHO. One thing I don't hear often discussed is the replacement of the fuel pump. Expect that to be needing replaced. It's not how many miles are on the engine, that necessitates it's replacement, but how long it was NOT used. Old gas gets gummy and the pump tries to move this sludge through the filter before it reaches the engine. Usually the gas tank needs to be dropped, drained and the pump replaced. You'll notice some surging or missing and it feels like dirty plugs that need replaced, but it will be the fuel pump. Not a difficult job for a DIYer. Pump cost about $60.00, the entire sending unit is about $200., but just swap out the pump. There are many videos on CZcams that show you how. Ragin' Taurus is located in Texas.

    I have the same car color and year and se also and it’s my second car, I’m definitely in love with it for sure! Inside the car you can tell it has been very much used in the past from others driving it but everything works as should except for the rear window heater and the trunk button. Besides that the car is amazing I love it, definitely gonna spend money on the car and keep it for years to come, and even when the engine goes out I rather spend money buying a new engine rather buy a new car!

    i just got an 06 taurus sel in white from an older lady.. and she bought it from a rental company. it was also barely driven and garage kept, it has 50k mostly highway miles but now im driving it a bunch so.. im hoping it lasts the next 10 years.. im babying it but i love the torquey ranger engine lol and i know thats already pretty reliable. im planning on getting the timing chain done by 70k, theres no real maintenance records so far..
    its insane to me there are cars from the 00s still around with low mileage..

    • @BryceAdvice
      @BryceAdvice  Před měsícem

      @@emyliafoxy Car will last you a while just keep fresh oil in the engine, & keep the transmission fluid clean.
      The transmissions on these cars are known to have some missed & mine had a weird shift error where it would get stuck from 3rd to 4th. Probably a solenoid or something.
      But clean oil & transmission fluid & will be fine.

    These were very good cars, but you could tell in 2006 the cost cutting was apparent. It began in 2004 when the Taurus was being phased out in preparation for the Fusion. I had a fully loaded 2002 and small things like switches, interior door handles, etc. were just far superior in quality. I have seen 2006 "SEL" trim models that were clearly not even properly packaged as top of the line models. Ford was essentially using whatever parts they had left.
    I will say excellent job keeping this looking great.

      @@BryceAdviceyeah yeah it’s a little crowded in there. I had some issues with serious engine stutter at high rpm and it ended up being the cam sensor and cam synchronizer. I only figured it out after having replaced the ignition coil and maf sensor as well. It also had a check battery light on that was a bad 12v constant to the alternator. I ended up putting a new alternator serp belt and battery in so it’s good to go. Next is the gas tank and the fuel filler neck as the tank is leaking from rust and the pump is whining badly. It’s been a lot of work but I love that wagon. I added led headlights and I’ll be adding window tint soon.

    Clean car, I will note though, your rear springs look like they are broken or starting to break. Its just sitting a few inches low. This is a super common problem on these, my 04 Taurus and my grandmas 06 Taurus both had the issue. Can be fixed easily by just replacing the rear strut assembly which includes a new shock and spring.

    I recently bought one with 149k miles on it, 06 SE. When I put the car in reverse I clear a noticable "clunk" coming from what I assume is the transmission. It also has a weird idle where it bounces rapidly in RPMs.

      Yes it's likely in OD. However if you push it up to 85-90 it will shift again when going to 100Mph and past. I'm not sure what it's shifting to here maybe this is OD and at 65-70Mhp it's in 4th gear. IDK
      I think it is 4 gears w OD though, I don't think they count the 4th gear as OD. Pretty sure it's 4 with OD. I don't know how else to make sense of the additional shift when going to 100 Mph.
