    Just use a rubber band around my lunch container and put the insulin next to the ice pack and hope for the best.

    I live in Colorado, it gets hot and cold here.
    I use “4 All Family” coolers. They hold up real well in a hot car. In the winter I don’t freeze the gel packs. Then the gel packs absorb the cold first, to prevents the insulin from freezing.

    I use an insulin thermo bottle. It has an ice pack that fits inside and it can hold pens or vials. Used it a couple of months ago to travel from CO to GA and back and it kept my vial and pen fridge cold for the 2 day drive there and back. Did refreeze the ice pack when we stopped for the night. You keep those temps please. It is more than warm enough in CO with our upper 90's lol. Great comparison video thanks for sharing.

    I am i Louisiana and I have never needed my insulin on the go until recent. I just put it in a cooler and pray it stays good. If i get out i take the cooler with me like an idiot.

    We live in Tucson, would love this for my son, since he plays soccer and I’m always worried for his insulin going bad in the heat, thank you!💖

    Pennsylvania here. I pack mine with a cold lunch and avoid leaving it in a hot car if at all possible.
    Considering the Goodwill cup was going to contain ice, I knew it would win. The ice stores more cold energy than all the other contenders, so that will transfer to the vial more efficiently as you proved out. But it's downside is the cup is bulkier and can leak water if tipped over. Of the contenders, the FRIO is the best choice as it is designed to absorb heat and prevent the insulin from getting too warm by thermal transfer. The FRIO would have performed even better if it was soaked in ice-water. The colder water being absorbed would reject heat a little better than regular tap water.

      Thanks, Dan. That's a great point that I had not considered. I admit that after this test, the FRIO has become my favorite cooling case because of its effectiveness, plus versatility, especially when flying.

    I live in Michigan and we can get up there temperature wise too. I have one of those blue Frio bags for my solo pens. I’ve never tested anything over car travel. Because as soon as I get somewhere it goes in there refrigerator because I’m panicked over it. When my refrigerator went out over Covid and I couldn’t buy a new one bought a apartment size college refrigerator just for my insulin. Believe me that whole process sucked.

      Hi Parrryan. Thanks for the comment. I'm curious have you or anyone you know of ever experienced the extreme opposite of my experiment? I've heard that at the right temperature, insulin can freeze, also causing degradation.

    • @parryan1800
      @parryan1800 Před rokem

      Yes, I know it can freeze and it not as powerful. One time I had to take it out of the refrigerator and use it right away and I was really surprised that the insulin itself didn’t seem to be as cold (inside my body; like I thought it would,) as the pen plastic and window was but I have been told my pharmacist and educational nurses to watch for it freezing And you can tell if it gets cloudy.; that is not as potent.

    Store in mini fridge or in my purse when out and the purse stays with me not in the AZ heat.
