This was an incredibly helpful video. Thanks for making it. Would you mind sharing a parts list to keep the second tank fully ready to install for an easy swap?
I got a mk 3 tank of eBay & it was a shocker looked liked it had been buffed to much & was a reject. I recommend people to get one off a reputable seller. You were lucky or I was unlucky.I ended up just using the Silver Spectre that came with bike.Gt does has a smaller tank by 1.2 liters & I too researched this & discovered that you needed a Gt fuel sender to use a Gt tank.I would recommend leaving 2.5-3Liters in tank when you full up too to prevent fuel sender sticking or even bending & if it does hold front brake in & jump up & down on forks should loosen stuck fuel sender which won't move needle on fuel gauge. Also you have reduced range with smaller tank & bigger motor so make sure not to run to low.Running low also sucks up sludge into fuel pump which are sensitive to sludge, grit etc.
Hi, Raunines Rider. Thanks for letting us know about the tank you got from eBay. It’s a shame it was so bad. I’ve always found that the stuff I get from India has mostly been pretty good. However, I do buy from the same couple of sellers. Good tips about the tank and fuel issues. Thanks for watching. Cheers, Len
In Australia i like to keep the litres in the tank. You lost a few doing this tank change. When i found out the bread boxers had a smaller fuel capacity i chenged my mind.
Really like the look with the new tank, my interceptor has the same asthenic/look as yours so it’s nice to see how how this swap looks (very good) Thanks for heads up on the additional parts required.
Thanks, Daryl. I really appreciate your comments. I wish you all the best if you are thinking of doing a tank swap. Just remember to do it with a near empty tank 🤣 Thanks for watching. Cheers, Len
Hi Len - just a query about your turn signals and rear light set up which looks very neat. Could you let us know where you got the signal and rear lamps from and any instillation advice? In fact it might make a good video to post?
Hi, Mark. Both the tail light and indicators came from Third Gear accessories in Australia. I used the original tail light base and fitted the new tail light to that. However, I did have to make up a tapered wedge to fit between the base and the new light housing in order to get the face of the lense to sit vertical and not be angled upward. Wiring was a relatively simple affair in cutting and joining wires. It was time consuming, but considering it was all done during Covid lockdown, it kept me busy. I hope this helps. All the best with your own build. Cheers, Len
Hi, Myk. Thanks for the compliment. I bought the tank strap on eBay. They’re made in Thailand, but are not always available. I’ve only seen them for sale a couple of times - and they are expensive. Search for ‘Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 Tank Strap’ and you might find one when they come up for sale. Cheers, Len
Hi, Ed Thanks for the compliment. I had the stickers made by the guy who does my paintwork. I drew up the design, content, fonts and colours I wanted and showed him a sample of the original 650 decal. From there he assembled it on the program he uses and printed them out. He stripped and repainted the side covers and applied the decals with a clear coat on top. Thanks for watching. Cheers, Len
Hi, Aswin Thanks for watching. The bars are Rizoma brand. I bought them many years ago for a Ducati I owned at the time. I had them, along with quite a few other bars I bought for various bikes over the years. I tried three different sets before settling on the Rizoma - they’re perfect for me on this bike. If you go to the Rizoma website - Handle Bars - Handlebar Set - Handlebar, I’m pretty sure the bars that are simply called ‘Handlebar’ are the set I bought. They’re excellent quality and come in different colours. I hope this helps. Cheers, Len
Hi, one crazy wheel. The header pipes are Verex and the silencers are S&S - highly recommended. They have such a great sound especially with the hi comp pistons. Thanks for watching. Cheers, Len
Nice looker mate! What’s next up I wonder?! If you haven’t already seen them, I recommend checking out Halcyon bar end mirrors, real quality, (actually still made entirely here in England for about the past 60 years), they’d really complete the old-school cafe racer look for Mr. Black, IMO. Happy Trails! Jon
Thanks, Jon. I really appreciate your comments. What’s next? Not really sure, but the bar end mirrors do look good. I think I might have had a pair of them on another bike I owned sometime in the past 🤔 Time to check them out again 👍 Thanks for watching. Cheers, Len
Hi Steve, riding isn’t just about speed, it’s the torque and the feel of the motor as it pulls up the climb - the sound at low revs is so unique. So much fun can be had at legal speeds. I live in mountains with lots of steep twisting local roads and lots of 60kph speed limits - the bike was taken to 865 for the torque. Did you view my comparison video with a high comp RE 650? There you can see the dyno results. Oh, and I’m not going to record myself speeding. Cheers, Len
That‘s one classy RE. Tastefully done.
Mr. Black looks amazing. I prefer how you make him look with the stock tank. Great video
Hi, Sunny.
Thanks for your compliment, I really appreciate it.

Bike looks great! Personally I liked the the Interceptor tank
Hi, thanks for the comment, Yep, I think I prefer the standard tank as well. It will probably go back on soon enough.
Cheers, Len
Holds more fuel too

Nice work Lenny, great to hear the bike in action!
If that tank had 3D logo it would look great.
The Mirrors done look right,, 😢
price you pay to see good behind you, not that you need to with that much power. 😅

Hi Len @motostralia5563. Could you share the guy who made your Intercontinental 865 decals? I want to buy a pair of them. Thanks a lot ! Carlos.
Hi, Carlos. The company is Collide a Scope, located in Asquith, NSW.
The fellow’s name is Lawrence.

Great video. I own a 22' Int 650 Orange Crush. What pipes do you have on this bike? It sounds good.

I changed the brake pedal using the old arm and modded it...much safer
👌👌👌👌👌👌
looks better but now you also lose over a litre of fuel capacity.
Wowwwww
Hey
Any fueling issues in the bike after you got the gt's tank?
Hi, Sanjay
No issues at all, the bike ran perfectly 👍
Absolutely Horrendous Mirror's, you must have more money than sense lol 😂
Why go to 865 then ride like an old lady?
