Hurrah! What a pleasant and enjoyable sound is the melody played by music-box. Parchelbel's canon is one of the most excellent melodies. I like the melody of Parchelbel's canon. I like it more when it is played by music-box. Some antique bracket clocks played melodies for each hour on built in music-box in addition with striking the hours on coiled wire gong. Nowadays some door bells that contains electronically recorded and programmed circuit board of sound chips connected to speaker that imitates the melodies played by music-box. Some quartz clocks too contains electronically recorded and programmed circuit board of sound chips connected to speaker that imitates the sound of melodies played by music-box and hour strike on coiled wire gong as in antique musical bracket clocks. But nothing can beat the real music-boxes and chiming clocks.

It is, the 144 notes are night and day different from the 50/72 as far as sound quality. However, this one will set you back about $25,000 plus...if you can find one.

More notes not necessarily better. Thorens IMHO produced the richest deepest cleanest sounds and mechanisms. This one here is nice without a doubt, but a 50-Thorens sounds so much richer than a 144 modern Reuge 🤷
