GOOD MORNING AMERICA'S HOMEPAGE:
gma.yahoo.com/
Prince & The Revolution were and still are the biggest musical influence in my life. Wendy & Lisa made it cool "for a girl" to play instruments in my hood. Prince was the ultimate performer and he will always be missed...
The interviewer is so good! She stays out of focus and gives the band their space and time to finish their sentences.
Very unusual to see that in american shows.
Sunflower ..Good point..Yep asked her Q,then kept her mouth shut..👍
Prince was at his creative best when he was with The Revolution.
Anthony Quinn
He was at his creative best when he picked up an instrument.
Aisha B Hahahaha I totally agree!😁👍
Yes
I agree
for me, this band identifies with Prince far more than the other bands. along with Dez and Andre this was his soulmate band, they were born to be with Prince!
Zrocs1 yasss I sooo agree 🎤🎸🎹💜💜💜💜 So NICE to see them together again.⭐️️⭐️️⭐️️⭐️️⭐️️
The quintessential Prince sound was The Revolution without a doubt IMHO. The Wendy/Lisa vocals were so integral to Purple Rain... just a spectacular band all around.
Zrocs1 True indeed! That was the sound of my early childhood years!
That's because unlike the other bands The Revolution was immortalized in the movie Purple Rain.
@Zrocs1 : I think its because the Revolution actually have an identity all its own. Just like the Time they had their own style and sound- they were a complete package. The other bands Prince had never developed their own definite image, not even NPG.
I give the highest praise to the members of The Revolution. I pray for blessings for all of them always.
"phantom limb syndrome" -- it's gone but still hurts. Wendy nails it.
Perfectly put beautiful people x
Thank You for educating us Wendy. Something to Read about .
I love Wendy playing the guitar in Computer Blue.
They will always be Prince's most well known band
Craigslist
@@gregoryruffen6314 not sure what that means
Very arguable since the New Power Generation had more albums and did more with him, including their debut in a movie also.
@@cryptozoomauler5505 new poer generation will go down as prince most boring era in music even if they musicly were more capeble.
@@jimbombadill I find the opposite to be true. In my opinion, they were the best. I have listened to all the bandmates. You can't expect a consensus from all the friends of Prince when there are so many of us.
Wendy and Lisa were by far his best colaborators. I chuckled when Wendy said she thought it was a girl the first time she heard Soft and Wet because I thought the same thing lol.
Same. I was 11.
The way Dr.Fink killed that keyboard solo at the end of When Doves Cry is super crazy. One of the best bands ever, all stand alone talents. ❤
I still hate that Prince is dead but he will never be forgotten. RIP Prince
Larry Banks True dat
But he's not dead. Haven't you heard? No one famous dies anymore, they just become a series of "this can't POSSIBLY be a coincidence!!!!"'s, and are in hiding somewhere to escape the pressures of fame, etc etc.
Wonders ahhhh meh
I fuckin hate it too bro smh
As with many, Prince's music was the backdrop of my life. Hats off to the interviewer, I can tell she was a true fan and she let the group members express their thoughts. And as for the band, THANK YOU to you all. What exceptionally talented and kind people you are. You have no idea how much you all touched my life.
abunchahooey : Thanks for making this statement. I feel exactly the same way.
abunchahooey I agree with you 100%
True fan??? C'mon she didn't get Wendy's name right at first.
Prince was the man
Willie Sky fuck yeah
This was Prince best band! The Revolution!
Prince chewed em up and spit 'em out!!
It wasn't that bad. He later reunited with Wendy and Lisa and performed with them.
True, wonder how often he gave any of them a call after 1986. Once, twice..?? Bet you can count them on one hand
Prince never called you should know that
For all of you that don't know what it was like to record and play with Prince it was Amazing the best lesson in music you can learn., he loved every Band that he worked with.., All of these guys deserve to be Heard Don't hate .. Christian
all of my purple life 😢😢😢 im still all choked up I miss you Prince Rogers Nelson
Charlie Murphy told that hilarious story of meeting Prince, playing his crew in a pickup basketball game and Prince serving them all pancakes afterward. I guess we now know who made the pancakes!
Tom Dulle hilarious
this band stayed true to Prince and you can see all the love & respect they have for him best band ever RIP PRINCE you are so missed :( one of the best interviews ever
Kimberly Stull I know they NEVER trashed him after the break up. That rare in the age of victimization identification. They still love him and honor his memory.
What trash comments did Wendy said
Extremely sad day when Prince died, so sad. When Vanity passed away a few months b4 I was nostalgic about that Prince era, then he suddenly passed away and it was crushing. Heartbreaking. Gone too soon. It's good to see the Revolution back together. Prince is a BEAUTIFUL MAN, inside and out. He'll live on forever through his music and beautiful films.
Lovely statement, thank you.
lavina braz it is still so hard for me. I try not 2 think about it
Beautiful statement
Like how Fink still rocks
the stage costume.
Dumb
Lol.
DOCtah!!!
Yeah I noticed that also LOL
Hes been the most comfortable band member for 35 years
The chemistry this band has is still incredible. I'm happy to see the banded together to help one another through their grief via music. Great interview!
That is why he chose you. He knew that day would come, and he needed a band that would be there for his fans. He saw you as no different from himself. He was you and you were him.
Patrice Morris What a beautiful thing to say
Patrice Morris I am in love with you...
Everyone else knows this isn’t true.
Well put! I agree!
Real Talk, I met the Doctor one time, I'll never forget it. He is a real laid back genuine person. He had some very funny stories too.
Prince always will be with us.
IT WAS A GIANT PLEASURE TO HAVE ONCE BEEN ON THE SAME STAGE WITH THESE LEGENDS!
P has had bands with more skilled and flashier musicians, but he has never had a band that was more iconic and accessible to so many fans. Much love to the Revolution.
Now, that's the best interview around. As a kid growing up in the 80s, They're the best band with Prince! I know there's NPG and Third Eye Girls. They both good. But, The Revolution! SWEET!
yass
1987 to 1988 set up was pretty damn sweet as well - Levi, Dr.Fink, Sheila E and Miko - even Cat was a very big part of the legendary Black album.
+Wonders the Counter Revolution lol
Shalawn Dillon i cant stomach third eye girls
Lisa was always the quiet one. Even during the purple rain tour , a. Very talented wall flower.
Damn!...Lisa still looks good!..mystical almost!
NO, SHE'S OLD
@SUGAR XYLER
So will you be one day. Your mind however... needs to leave kindergarten.
She actually looks better, aged very well..
Please never leave us, Revolution...You are keeping us alive!! We love you. The video was so intimate and genuine...We all felt we were gently with you...throughout the interview!! Our Purple Family!!
Prince had me at Soft N Wet (15 yrs old). Purple Rain took me to a higher level. Love this band. True, devoted and genuine.
true Prince fans absolutely knows them!!
Yes! Love every detail!
Shalawn Dillon 💜💜💜💜
She's doing great. Still singer and a mother of one. I followed her on twitter and FB.
Shalawn Dillon you can't Jill's music here...she's really talented. You can hear the P influence. And see why he was into her.
And we love them!
Yep. Prince gave ME the side eye when I peeked over the DJ booth at Glam Slam West in 1995 to catch a glimpse of him, I was like oh-boy...dropped back down, it was actually kind of funny looking back, but I GOT A PRINCE SIDE EYE! .::Moderniare
wendileona I used to go to Glam Slam all the time back then!! Lived a few blocks from Paisley Park Studio. Would drive under the Graffiti Bridge going to work at a music store in the Eden Prairie Center. Later I had a job where I would drive past Paisley Park Studio every day. I would always wonder if he was there jammin out when I was passing by. Went to MN to visit family after he had passed away. Got there around 3am drove right to the studio. Seeing the security guards and all the flowers, poems and things that people put around the fence made his death become so very real. I just parked my car by the studio and cried. It is still so very hard to believe that he is gone.
@@Lockdrumpfup honestly working in a music store would be the best job ever especially for somebody like me who's a music junkie
The Interviewer was Brilliant, she asked great questions and let them answer. Hat goes off to the Interviewer
Wendy's face after Lisa says "it sounded like a good opportunity" 😂
This female host from ABC needs to have her own talk show. Out freaking standing job combining compassion, laughter, and keeping the interviewees interesting on topic. I was hooked every second. This is the way talk shows used to and should be again.
This was definitely the best band Prince ever had.
Nah dude. The best band that YOU are familiar with. Hardcore fans love the lineup with Andre Cymone and Dez Dickerson and in some cases prefer NPG. You just love Purple Rain
@@thetruthhurts9296Agreed. The Dez Dickerson, Jill Jones, Andre Cymone version is the best. It's still The Revolution though
I loved him because he was different.
I love the restaurant analogy by Wendy -- chippity, chop!!
Prince said that the Revolution was the best band ever,
Damn I'M TEARING UP WATCHING THIS.. I GREW UP LISTENING 2 THESE GUYS
Still love me some Lisa. She is still so adorable!!!
JellyBean2144 This almost doesn't look like Lisa
She voice never change-she sounds exactly the same way back when she was so much younger
I'll be 40 in January, As a young 7,8 year old young lad from Milwaukee, I loved and worshiped Lisa!!!!!!
Hey there, I live there now. Well actually in Wauwatosa, 67th & North Ave area. So you might as well say Mitown. And I loved Lisa too.
I had a really big crush on Wendy when I was a boy..Purple rain started that!
Bobbie Z put it best: the world is just now catching up with what he saw in Prince. I agree. And unless you have been closely following his career and ALL his released music, if you still only associate him with Purple Rain, you are still at least 3 decades behind. And you still don't know PRINCE.
Keith Bell + this was Prince who lost me and others after Purple Rain. His doings
Kim Salama Everybody can't hang. Glad I did.
The ones that grew up with Prince, from his peer age group to younger audiences were simply lucky, they, us, we, experienced Prince through his journey, we know Prince, at least those that listened and watched closely. We were lucky. Future audiences, missed all that, as Prince released music, his videos, his music. They may NEVER understand. .::Modernaire
Keith Bell Exzzzzactly
Purple RAIN MADE HIM. and showed the world who he really was!! don't mistake that.. Always ahead of the times, pushing the envelope, and reaching heights never thought to had even existed... his following albums some were great some went another direction and he lost followers ONLY for that album or two but everyone would rush back to hear him perform no matter what song he did
they all look so good and the love they had for Prince so moving. I knew i love Revolution
thank you Revolution for each story you share about our beloved prince I still can't believe his gone R.I.P prince I got a broken heart again.
THE REVOLUTION! PRINCE'S BEST BAND EVER! They were the first people I thought about when he passed. I'm still not over it.
Revolution rock on in honor of his Royal Badness and great musical icon Prince
I want to personally thank the revolution for such great work and I really can't separate Mr. Nelson from the revolution.
Oh my Lord.....Wendy said, "he would be over in our house in tube socks and jeans and then we would go and buy grapes!!!" oh my God.....that made me laugh!!!! i don't laugh that much cuz i'm so darn old.....but that was funny. it is strange to see them without him. i keep forgetting that his spirit is still here....and it is, thank God.
John Brinkman, until the day he died, when Prince was relaxing at home, he always wore tube socks.
The day he passed, I was numb... until the moment that I turned off the TV, walked to my cds, and Grabbed “ Parade”.... put on #12, And the first lines of the first verse were so haunting... and that is the moment I broke down!!!! It was real.....
Sometimes it snows in April.... and there I was on a cool day in April...
That was the eeriest feeling listening to thise words!
Very, very ironic
Prince is Prince everytime i Saw Him....when i look at the them...they look like common people ....
I'm really glad that the core of the Revolution still are together. Not like some of these other groups who have like 9 different versions of the same band. Just know you can't fool the true fans they know who suppose to be in the band......
Nice interview with The Revolution. They all had a great sense of humor and will always be remembered as Prince's first band!!
Saw them twice within the past week. SO awesome to experience. We laughed, cried, danced and sang along.
Prince & The Revolution exuded a strong soul moving mystical vibe. Their showmanship along with music that was loving, hard driving and blues driven was something to behold.
A hole in the world. Love you Ptince.
I have paid tribute to Prince since 1983 live on stage and will continue to as long as I Live
4-20-2018. Tomorrow makes 2 years since his passing . I just finished watching Purple Rain on t.v.
Dez Dickersen who was the first guitarist for the Revolution once described his auditioning process.
He and the other hopefulls had already arranged that since he had a gig to play with another band that same evening he should go first. Prince, Andre Cymone and Bobby Z arrived two hours late, no explanation, no apologies, not a single word. They got on stage, Bobby behind the drums, Andre on bass and Prince on the keys and started to lay down a really slow but extremely tight groove and Dez just joined in played what made sense and after a nod from Prince did a solo Before excusing himself reminding them that he had a show to play.
So that's when the very first words came from Prince and he told him he'd walk him out. Prince asked Dez questions: where did he see himself in five years, what kind of stage experience did he have, in hindsight, Dez realized that Prince was asking him all this because he wanted to know how he would handle touring, if he was down with Prince's driven musicality.
Dez became a Revolutionary but he wasn't aware of it yet.
a yr later, i still cry. my heart has a huge hole in it. i feel like i'll never get over it. i'm crying now typing this. it's still hard to believe. i wish it was all a lie. i've listened to him almost everyday since he left. my fav color is purple because of him. my passion for music exploded when i first heard him. i love him and miss him so much! 💜
Thank you for staying together!
I'm so SUPER PROUD TO SEE THE REVOLUTION IN SEATTLE. You did an outstanding job and I was the Security Guard with the mohawk standing right next to you guys in for a minute I started tearing just looking at you five signing autographs and taking photos. I was proud to be giving Wendy and Lisa's guitar pick and I would cherish it for the rest of my life in memory of Prince & The Revolution,
I love you guys and keep praying for as long as you can.
Prince recruited some great musicians to support him. He knew talent and picked well.
I remember when the movie Purple Rain came out., it had such an enormous impact on fans and artists of all genres of music. Some of my best friends were die-hard heavy metal and nothing else. And they were blown away by him. He couldn’t be defined any one genre. He was influenced by several different ones and created his own.
The pancake story was cool. Reminds me of the Dave Chapelle's comedy skit. Guess he was a huge fan of pancakes.
"Dearly Beloved... We are gathered here today to get through this thing called, Life!"
Best interview I have seen with construction work going on in the background
Music in The Vault = Prince Music Will Live Throughout Many Generations To Come
The unique thing about Prince is that if you're a real fan you may not have liked everything he did like I did but there's definitely enough variety that he'll catch you with more you like than you disliked. R.I.P. Purple One 🌂☔️☂️
That’s Prince knocking on heavens door in the background. Sure miss The Purple One’s genius 😇. Great interview!
Prince's most iconic band.
they look great but still grieving. B safe please
After the Revolution was fired, I always missed Lisa's backing vocals. They were an essential ingredient in the sound I loved. I realize now I was done with new Prince music after Around the World in a Day.
What about Parade? Huge Lisa presence/influence on that album.
A very good interview, good questions, her heart was on the same level as the subject matter.
Thank you so much for the mentor interview! Whoever at ABC News decided to give them plenty of time to talk we the hardcore true fans greatly appreciate you! Tremendously!
If they get inducted in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame , they should include Andre Cymone and Dez Dickerson .
tubagee I wasn't the only one who noticed that
This band was Prince's "bread and butter". The Revolution was extremely talented and awesome.
LONG LIVE the Revolution!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Am I alone in hearing how profound the "The World was late" quote from Bobby Z?
MarkAntney you are not alone, I always said Prince was misunderstood and underrated simply because he was way ahead of his time, what he composed years ago is what we hear as new music and it somehow relates to our lives as if he just wrote it last night....what a musical genius, what a tragic loss!!
@MarkAntney You are not alone...He always said "You all aint ready for this" Bobby Z just confirmed it...
This was so refreshing to see and hear these icons! True musicians in it's pure form! Thanks The Revolution
I miss Prince so much Im still grieving. I love and adore Prince and is Music forever
OMG! I was listening to music in my Alexa ECO while I was watching this video and the song KISS from PRINCE and The Revolution came on...my GOD I miss him just to think that he's gone make me and my wife cry. Prince and The Revolution was the best band ever. I just think this is a nightmare and I need to wake up!
Some of these comments make me chuckle. Trolls are such sad creatures. Viva Revolution!
He trusted them with his best from dirty mind thru....Much respected
Happy to see the Revolution band on ABC after Prince' ROGERS Nelson's passing in 2016. Txs, ABC news,
Remember in the Purple Rain Movie when the guy stood on stage and said ; LADIES AND GENTLEMEN. : THE REVOLUTION. !!!
Purple Rain was admittedly bigger than all of them, but not bigger than Prince. Bravo Revolution. That is why you were his “true” band.
WOW! THEY ARE THE BODY AND PRINCE WAS THE SOUL THX 4 POSTING .AND WE ALL GONNA C HIM ONE DAY IN GODS WILL!
Great interview... Love the Revolution; that being said, it's Nov 21, 2018 and I'm still grieving over Prince.
💜🎸🎤🎹🎶🎵🎼🎺💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Prince was just 1 of a kind. There'll never B anyone like him and I love all his bands in their own spacial way. They all had their own sound, but the also were very much alike. Prince pushed the boundaries on every level and made funk, rock, melody, pop, psychedelia and best music as amazing as ever possible. I still mourn his death, but I believe he is a free spirit now. I believe he is resting in peace even though he had so much more in him. I just feel like he was worn out due to pain and the hidden medication abuse. It's not what he envisioned, but it was inevitable. so sad and I miss him every day.
💜💜💜💜💜💜❤️
Never again!
I am healing and thank you for this showing. It is a shock that he is gone. I pray that they come to Florida.
What a beautiful interview. And my goodness, not only does their love for him shine through from the off with it but Wendy is just so razor-sharp when she speaks, always has been. Came here through a Dr Fink interview elsewhere and all this time after can still listen to stories about Prince over and over again. Magical stuff.
Wendy reminds me of Carrie Fisher a lil
i get that too good call
Jemel Moore And is Lisa tryin' to give some low key Bonnie Rait?????
inspectorbudget yesss!!
Jemel Moore you get it!!!!
i do
Awesome interview.
this was and Is the best band that he had ever had!!!??
Lisa and Wendy was so pretty back in the revolution days. I mean they are cute women now, but they were so pretty back then.
Your just as great Anita Baker love your voice. Thanks for the memories.
Prince was very creative. His music will live forever. His music will get discovered by generations to come!
Saw them last night at the Majestic. They were wonderful! It was the healing that we needed. I didn't cry for once!
AWESOME INTERVIEW!!! LOVE THIS BAND 💜FOREVER💜
I'm crying...I can't explain why...anyway it a testament to his vision that these ppl are still the characters he created
I absolutely loved Prince music with this band more than the others. The movie and music was one great era that definitely made history. I love all the stories of how they came together, great interview.
I guess pancakes must have been Prince's favorite snack, Charlie Murphy and now BrownMark say that he ate them! Excellent interview. Thanks so much for posting. It really means a lot.
overwhelmed when they came to Detroit ..it was so exciting to see them all alive on stage...and wendy said...ohthats the ride I remember to Detroit...I WAS EXCITED AND PROUD ABOUT THE WHOLE DEAL
I am a true, die hard, hard core, fan. So I would be the first one to see you all. But the pain. It would be so painful. And depressing for me to be there and him not being there, I know I couldn't enjoy the show.
