Flint knapping is very meditative, just don't get too relaxed working with razors! I need to make a new bopper. Do they take your rocks at the airport? lol.
idk about the airport, but my school lets me bring in knapping things as long as they’re dulled and don’t look like weapons
Gotta say for a recommend channel from CZcams for once I'm quite happy they popped this up on my feed. Going be watching a lot more videos of yours in my free time, the chill yet educational nature of your videos just draws me in.
Being in continuous commune with nature makes one a true philosopher. Perhaps I'll never get a chance to meet Donny in person, he'll always be a good friend! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🇮🇳🇮🇳
Thanks for this.
👍👍
I think it is funny seeing somebody make and use a stone tool while wearing a fancy modern day digital watch device. Lol. BTW, this video reminded me I have a bunch of flint knapping stuff I totally forgot about. Now I wanna go dig it all out and learn how to do it, finally. 😀
It monitors my heart rate. I wear it sometimes. It’s a thing.
👍👍👍👍
What till he figures out what this guy is filming on
Fynn& Donny🐺💚😊
Yep You are the Go To Guy 🤙
Nice I'm early, probably won't have to use this stuff ever but I enjoy learning how.
Wow, Man. Great Job. U r the real Robinson Crusoe))) Liiiike✌️
Wow that turned out Beautifully, well done, I’ve been collecting material for knapping, been collecting arrowhead’s for 26 years but I’ve never attempted to knapp a point, I appreciate the knowledge, Thanks For Sharing 👊🏹
Thanks. Appreciate you watching.
Start with it, it will highten your respect and appreciation of our ancestors so much more, I recently started and it’s such an amazing thing to do with your time, it’s hard(i am not even novice level) but when you make something functional and usable from “just a rock you found” it gives so much satisfaction.
Outstanding that's the best way I have ever seen it done thank you for sharing five stars my friend
👍👍
You Sir are awesome in your skills.
Thank you brother Donny always learn something from ya videos
awesome video, cheers from Spain 🇪🇸
Nice work looks great 👍!!
Thank you for sharing!!
Hi👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏
Love your work brother. No matter the video, you are a great help to those of us who want to live like the true ways of our ancestors. I truly do appreciate your work and videos! May mother nature bless you in your travels.
Love the honesty Donny brings forth.🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙂
👍👍
Thank for video my friend 😉
Thanks for the video. Could you also show what it looks like to find such stones and where they are often found and how to recognize them
the blade he made probly was obsidian obsidian is black and glass looking
Yeah I have trouble finding stones
Semper Fi, Dude...
Great video
Awesome as always brother. Respect Donny. 🤙
Those look like perfect spearheads
I enjoy watching the things you make and carve. Some of us might need a little more education on choosing the correct stones for doing or at least practicing some of those crafts. I enjoy every time 👍
nice
A joy to watch as always. I started a project recently, pecking and grinder a hand sized red granite oblong mini boulder into a a classic
style full grooved axe. You can't appreciate how much skill and labor that goes into just one tool, until you actually try it. There must have been a lot of one eyed indians, cause that debris seems like it is doing it's best to get your eyes
I never done flint knapping before I always wanted to try.
You sir. You are Awesome.
👍👍
Very nice video
Great channel Donny 👌👍 Great instructions always keep teaching us the primitive skills!! You the Man 😃😃
Cant wait to try it myself. Here in south america we got plenty of rocks
Please do more of these knapping videos! Ever since Shawn Woods stopped knapping and only shows mouse traps i've been on the lookout for a good flintknapping channel!
Really cool stuff. "Stone utilization for production". Really interesting and beautiful stuff.
👍👍👍
One day my kids will find your points and wonder what tribe and time period they came from. Hopefully CZcams will still be around so they can study the Donny era
Great work man! Love your videos. When I watch your videos, I realise that even if you have nothing, you can still make it, make your own tools using basic materials if you have the knowledge, the will to try it and patience to craft them...
I really like football shaped blades. Tear drop blades are still my favorite though.
Very Nice 👍 I crossing fingers 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍☺️
Solid plain truth.
Great video man! All of them
👍👍👍
Wish I could do this arthritis won't let me💔love your videos & your dog is cool 🐕👍
Love the video Donny, can you make one going over your tattoos?
Seems like you made that with little effort!
Do you heat treat any of your flint? If so could you do a video on your method?
This stuff is so cool and I feel like it could be a fun and relaxing hobby but I know I’ll never try it.
안녕하세요.
말이야기 재미있어요.
수고하셨습니다.👍🏻🙇🏻
🙌🏽💜🤙🏽 God!
I have a request please show how to make different types of water bottles/water containers to transfer water
Can you make obsidian or stone machete type weapon
the hero and the stones, he is associated with the stone and the axes and a series of animal skins. I admire, ideal type. great friends👌
I’ve always wanted a hand -napped knife for my collection. I have specimens from the 1500’s to present day. Have you ever made one to sell. If so how do we acquire one? Your skill level is absolutely amazing!
👍👍
I've never done any knapping but would like to try after seeing your videos. Any ideas what to use for leg protection if leather isn't an option? Will a large folded towel give enough protection? Also , I don't see you using eye protection would you recommend it for a rookie? Thanks and thanks for sharing you beautiful art of stone work with us. 👍👍
Greatly enjoying your videos. Extremely practical, straightforward, yet all the important detail looks to be there as well. I have a question on using the finished product to score a sapling- is it possible to simply take a large flake and do this with much less time invested? I would think a large flake would not last NEARLY as long, but if you were in a situation where you just needing some shelter materials would the flake be able to score a sapling that way with out breaking up too much?
you should do survival journeys bro.
Speaking of intricate, can you make a Calf Creek point?
What would be in your opinion the best or most complete flint napping tool kit....
So cool man. Im excited for the day i try flint knapping. It just feels like an obvious eventual step of mine. Just curious, do you ever get stone splinters?
Ouch. That doesn't sound fun
Just started a few weeks ago, and got my first today. It's not too bad, happened to be holding a piece in the wrong spot and didn't notice the teeny little shard that got me until it was in my thumb
just curious, whered you get your huaraches?
Are there any specific places where you can find this kind of stone? Great video as always!
The specific chert he is using is Georgetown flint from Texas. You can find retailers on eBay, etsy and other websites. Just to warn you, 20 pounds will cost around 100 bucks shipped.
👍👍👍
Can you show how to identify different rocks
Lucky
I want one with the sheath and handle! Would you make one to ad to my collection?
I wonder if I can find that slate like rock around here
Can you make a leather sheath for a stone knife? My grandfathers friend took a trip out west and brought back a stone knife with an elk antler handle for us both and I would love to make a sheath for them but idk what design to use. Thanks in advance
,👍👍
Hey I’m new to « survival activities » and I would like to see you making « wires or like »
Can you show us how you would go at cleaning and skinning an animal with a flint blade.
Where would you find fint in the woods and where in the country is it more prevalent.
I need a guide to help me identify which stones, rocks, etc. would be the best choice. How do I tell which stones are going to work best? Would be great to be able to go to a flint knapping / pressure flaking workshop or something. Dig the videos though, dude. Thanks
👍👍👍👍
could you make the double bow from farcry primal
Are those 3 to 4 inch flakes sharp enough to make something with?
Where do you find your rocks and how do you tell what kinda rock it is?
How do you go about finding flint or a good substitute?
👍👍👍
Can you make stone sword
Am I first?
Early Tribe 🔥
@@DonnyDustsPaleoTracks yes
Do you heat treat your stone?
How often do you have to sharpen it
Which knife companies do you like?
How would people protect their eyes back in the day with this crafting?
Has anyone ever told you that just a little, you look like Otis from house of a 1,000 corpses, no disrespect just an observation I love your content by the way
Thanks. I do get that every so often. Thanks for watching.
@@DonnyDustsPaleoTracks ok I’m not alone! To be more clear you would represent a very much cleaned up version of his dirty ass but again love the content you post I’ve shared with lots of buds that enjoy your videos like myself, thanks for the reply 👍
@@WRVTH420 awesome. I appreciate it…I will say I do have some photos of me butchering game that might be a spitting image of Otis!!! Haha. You get me!!!
Yo Donny you should make these and sell them online man I'd buy as f****** Stone knife you made just simple like the one you just showed with the little leather wrap I definitely buy that I'm sure a lot of people would
👍👍
👊😎🤙🔥🍻🇺🇸
Do you sale flint
Can you make sandals? (Like the ones we’ve seen in your videos)
He's got a video on just that posted around 10 months ago.
@@camelusdromedarius3789 oh right! I did have a quick look but must have missed it. Cheers!
P.S. 3 mile walk up and down the mountain to electricity now. I can't dig with blisters on my hands, and my bortja neighbor poisoned my spring water. I had to rebuild my entire stream, plus dig, plus clear mediterranean jungle over my home foundtion area lol. I want a day off lol. Gin and tonics at the bar!!!
i bet that you could make a knife from almost all the parts that fell off at the start
i live in ohio and i wanna know where i can find big pieces of flint
You know Ohio's state gemstone is officially Flint, right? We should all be asking you where to find big flint! 😁
@@chucklearnslithics3751 wait really? nice thanks for telling me
@@mc_flre851 😂 Every knapper dreams of pilgrimage to flint ridge and nethers farm...
@@chucklearnslithics3751 well lucky go me then
Dude, I'm living out on a mountain now. The plan is to build a stone house with simply hand tools. I'm digging through mountain ground now. You have to use a machette, it is too thick for a shovel. Full dry stone house with a clay core (celtic style but... I'm an inventor, and I want to keep the bugs out). Once my foundation is done I will make a bow out of olive wood (I am in the balkans [but I'm American]) and knapp my arrowheads.
I have heard boar take a bath in the marsh 50 feet north of me. Both a sow and a bull. I will not kill unless I can utilize the full corpse, and reach proficiency with the bow, for sure kill. It will take a while.
Goal is full natural with steel tools (saw, axe (most used as a hammer), machette (probably most important), and I got some pruning shears for the vines... Stonecraft I will need sledge hammer and chisel... woodcraft I will need a sharp chisel). and synthetic cordage.
Totally custom, totally natural, with my own hands, solo.
I'm living like an animal now. It's healing my body and soul. I'm stronger than ever. The cot I made out of spiny tree branches, rope and reeds is healing my lower back from years of hunched over life. My muscles are growing like crazy. My patience is increased. My acceptance with the sin and satanism of the world is increased.
When I was scouting and going out there, I would fall on my knees and cry to GOD for the continuous evil of the world. now I just cry occationally. Seneca has helped me accept the evil.
I'm trying to build my home. A home better than anything anyone can buy. If I can make moneys, I will get some solar next year and even be able to run a pump from my spring. The water heals. The nature heals. The pain heals. The work heals. Apparently to live like an animal is the beginning of living like a man.
👍👍
Cool. Did u purchase land or just find a remote spot?
@@JennySimon206 just a random remote spot with a spring. It makes you crazy strong ;)
I’m kinda curious after watching for as long as I have, what’s the worst injury you’ve ever gotten while just out and about doing your thing? Deep laceration just seems so plausible from as many times you’ve done this sort of thing but idk
👍👍
Was that a smartwatch? Pretty odd to see him wearing it
It monitors my heart rate. As someone who had a heart attack, I like to keep tabs on the old ticker. I don’t wear it routinely, but when at high elevations I try to play it safe.
@@DonnyDustsPaleoTracks oh, wow. Make sense. Better be safe than sorry
Aren't these too brittle to be used as a knife for years on end ? Single strokes break chunks from it
👍👍👍
Even Among all my modern tactical and hunting equipment, I still won't be caught alive without a copper rod and obcidian blade.
Because when all else fails, there will always be the old tested and true ways.
We are still a slightly evolved breed of monkey.i Never forget that.
👍👍👍
Don't they break easily?
Bro you and primitive technology need to get together
Insects don't chase you out there?
I bet you smacked your fingers thousands of times doing this but I want to do this so bad
Can u make a diamond sword from mineceaft
