- The young French-Italian singer Lea Desandre sings the playful aria ‘E un foco quel d'amore' from Handel’s pastoral cantata Aminta e Fillide. Discover the album here: w.lnk.to/it-cantatas
She joins Sabine Devieilhe, Le Concert d’Astrée and Emmanuelle Haïm on an album of Handel’s Italian cantatas that Gramophone chose as its Recording of the Month for December 2018.
“Both singers have unblemished voices of beautiful quality,” wrote Richard Wigmore, “Sabine Devieilhe, as Aminta, pellucid and free-soaring, Lea Desandre with a dark flare in her high mezzo … They interact vividly in recitative, and in their arias strike an ideal balance between refinement and intensity.”

I can't believe this doesn't have millions of views. Though I'm doing my part by watching and rewatching this magical performance regularly.

Lea Desandre Diva.❤❤❤
Can someone give the sound guy a kiss on the forehead ?
It's just so crisp and clean

WOW... what amazing job...!!!😮
Warner Classics--All the best-looking young musicians in the world.
Lea is a certifiable wonder.
I am NOT a fan of opera but I can't stop watching her. Her passion is overflowing. She makes my face hurt from smiling while my eyes are watering. Bravo!! What's happening?!
@@antondriller8022 IT IS BEGONE NOW!!!!
This is not opera
@@Alternivma it’s opera-cantata “Aminta und Fillida”
You don't usually hear a sound like that done with sensitivity like that from someone under the age of 30. She's really remarkable.
Yes, you do, if you know where to look.
@@plinyelder8156 I'd love to see them. It's always good to discover new artists.
I find that, with the kind of freshness, youthfulness and technical perfection with which young artists leave conservatories, they often blow older performers out of the water. Especially with regards to emotion, sensitivity and nuance. The clarity and pure joy that transpires from young artists often makes me feel like they don't necessarily become better with age.
@@plinyelder8156 - Yeah, that's right, give us some names
@Pliny Elder - Please, show us some. I am always eager to listen to such talent and skill.
two minutes of perfect beauty
Yes, the music is extraordinaire. I like the video concept. Informal, playful, behind the scene clips that are less guarded. The art still comes across as high brow but makes it more accessible to novices like me. Well done.
Agreed, Sir!
Anything Baroque comes off "high-brow" lol
I actually hate the notion that people think Baroque music, or any Classical music is "high brow". It is beauty created by humans for other humans to enjoy. That enjoyment or appreciation can be felt on many levels and cause intense reactions but it is not "high brow", which to me means it is not meant for everyone, it excludes.
Such a unique talent to make Handel sound so animate and true! Thank you !
I am addicted to her. Her passion and feel for music makes me tingle.
¡¡BRAVO!! ¡¡BRAVO!! ¡¡AMAZING!!
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Greetings from Buenos Aires Argentina.
Beautifully sung by an exquisite soprano.
È un foco quel d'amore,
che penetra nel core,
ma come, non si sa.
S'accende a poco a poco,

Such a wonderful addition to the musicality of all to see she enjoys her voice so much. May you long do so Lea.
Perfeito.

Hermosa
I can't imagine how expensive those microphones are to pick up her beautiful voice from that far away.
Probably Neumann mics. They're amazing
I mean, probably pretty expensive, but that's not very far for recording a classical singer. You want all the overtones and such that ring in the room.
@@Immortal__ Probably definitely. No probably about it. The Neumann diamond logo clearly visible.
Wow.
10 people either pressed the wrong hand or have no idea what they just listened to
I like this sort of recording much more than the staged opera when the performers are free to be themselves and to express their own emotions. The joy of “doing” the music comes through.
What is there NOT to like with this performance?!! Thank you.
from paradise...
Handel's connections with the Hanoverian succession is interesting.
Handel had met King George I before his 1714 coronation (when the man who was to be king was still the Elector of Hanover).
Lea Desandre's voice is blithe and merry and will delight many.
Emmanuel Haim!
😮
Eyebrow game on point.

Is that Italian? What's going on?
When can we listen Rejoices plz miss Lea
Italian:
È un foco quel d'amore,
che penetra nel core,
ma come, non si sa.
S'accende a poco a poco,
ma poi non trova loco,
e consumar ti fa.
English:
Love is a fire, of that sort
which invades the heart:
but how? Nobody knows.
It is kindled ever so slightly
to the point where, having no further fuel,
it turns upon you.
How the hell did listening to Revenge lead me into downloading the album?
I wish I didn't have to go look up the meaning of every one of these.
Can't someone just tell us in the description or comments?
Maybe you should try learning a bit of Italian. Then you can appreciate the poetry of the language as well as the music
