SUMMER ME MADE WARDROBE FOR KIDS | Capsule Wardrobe DIY Sewing Clothes for Toddlers and Babies

As we head into autumn here in Australia, I thought I would share with you all the clothing items I made for my kids this past summer. I'll be sharing the 'me made wardrobes' for all four of my kids aged 4.5 years old, 3 years old, almost 2 years old and 2 months old. I'll be sharing different projects including shorts, dresses and hats in today's video.

Welcome to My Mum Makes! I’ve started this channel as a creative outlet to share my sewing projects online. I’ve loved to sew since my Mum taught me as a little girl and I find it relaxing, productive and fun. I love the chance to make things for my kids, myself and our home and I want you to feel motivated to give sewing a try and get creative. I think creativity is good for us especially as Mums. We can get so stuck in our everyday repetition, but spending some me-time creating something is a great way to unwind, prioritise our needs and use our brains in a different way to the everyday. Love how thrifty you are! I am also a big believer in hand-me-downs and secondhand clothes 🙌 I haven’t actually been brave enough to sew anything wearable for my kids, other than a hat for the baby haha. But would love to make them something matching one day!

Oh for sure me too. Gotta love a good box of hand me downs - always feels like Christmas hehe
It can be hard to commit to sewing clothes because they grow so quickly and will grow out of it. But it is fun to see them match for sure

Fabulous makes, they look great! I really appreciate your attitude towards making kid clothes, like only for special occasions or special requirements or as an upcycle. Or for the fun of it!

I'd love to see your winter wardrobe video! I have a 6 wk old and it would be super useful to see what you need and how you organise things from someone also in SA! Being a first time mum I'm still figuring out what we need. I wish I had time to sew more clothes too, I've only manages a few bibs atm, haha😅.

Isabelle’s glittery dress is fabulous! All the other makes are great too. Your not needing to make for Alice bought to mind my nan. The eldest of 10 with an aunt only 5yrs older than her she always laments, ‘I remember mum making such beautiful dresses for Daphne and Vivienne, but I had to wear Aunty Everil’s hand-me-downs. They were nice hand-me-downs but I wished mum would make me something new like the other girls”. There were 7 girls so I assume the other 4 were also in hand-me-downs too? 😂

Wow yes that's a lot of girls to hand down clothes too. And very true, I want Alice to feel special too. I'm looking forward to her having a favourite colour or style preferences so I can make things she'll really love too.
