Dee’s bass line in “love lies bleeding” is insane.
I couldn’t agree more! It’s absolutely amazing.
@@OnlyKidWithCamera it’s tragic that Maria passed away in an accidental fall 10 years ago. At least they are together
Yes I agree , his bass line on love lies bleeding is over the top, call me nuts, but behind bonham-jones rhythm section, I think Dee and Nigel fall right in with them , in a different way of course because different styles of music...anyway nobody's really cares but those 2 RHYTHM SECTIONS we're my favorite two rhythm section's...

@@OnlyKidWithCamera thank you very much, it sounds awesome!!
I'm so glad this is on CZcams. Dee Murray deserves to be remembered for future generations. He was such a wonderful bass player, and contributed so much to those early Elton songs.
Agreed!
Jon - I have to also say what a great account this was of your time at the New York 9/11 concert. Very moving. Thanks for sharing.
@@davecostello560 Thank you Dave! That was a surreal time; to be in New York so shortly after such a terrible tragedy, and seeing how Elton's music and presence was a comfort to the people of that city. It really was a remarkable time.
@@OnlyKidWithCamera and music is such an important way of transforming grief. I was struck by the high vibration of the 9/11 McCartney New York concert, and then later by the Concert for George. Musicians are shamans during such times! Bless you Jon
I couldn’t agree more!
I went to all the way through high school with Maria Gombatz (and her sister Lisa) who was Dee's wife. She introduced me to Dee amd the rest of the EJ band back in 1977. He and Nigel were the most humble (and in Nigel's case, the most shy) of the whole band. I was crushed to hear of Dee's passing and especially Maria's passing on Christmas day of 2012. I hope both are reunited again in heaven.
In the early '80s, I worked at a grocery store down the street from Nigel's wife's house. I bumped into Nigel and Dee on separate occasions. Nigel was driving a Ferrari 308 at the time.
He was very underrated Bassists. His work on the album 11-17-71 live in studio was phenomenal
Agree
Check out Early Elton Trio if you're in the tri-state area. They gave some upcoming shows.
Jeff Kazee -piano
John Conte - bass (yes, he cuts it)
Rich Pagano -drums
Totally agreed! One of the best live albums of all time.

Underrated is an overrated term.
You prayed for him and bless you. When Eltons mother passed away I took the train to Northwood Hills and walked passed Frome Court the flat Elton and his mother and grandmother lived at and prayed for Eltons mum . It’s a special place to me and Captain Fantastic is a special lp
Dee Murray was the reason I started playing bass. He is my all time favorite bass player. So talented-thanks for featuring him
That's really cool! You couldn't have begun with a greater role model. Gus himself said he had never worked with another as good as him.

I am only 20 minutes into this and have tears running down my cheeks. 😢. This is a very moving narrative and I thank you for this Jon. It shows what a fabulous guy Dee Murray was. I grew up with Elton John, and got the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album along with the Don’t shoot me album for my 14th birthday. I studied the covers and knew who Dee, Nigel and Davey were. They have been with me nearly all my life. Fantastic to listen to this right after watching Elton at Glastonbury 2023, with Nigel and Davey. Thank you.
Thank you Steve for such a kind message. I’m so glad it resonated so deeply for you. It sounds like you had a similar trajectory that I did! I’m assuming you’ve seen my most recent video? The Elton John Band 1970-75 - A Celebration of Musical Excellence

Being a true Elton John fan in High school in the 70's wasn't an easy thing to admit to it when all your friends were into 3 chord rock music.
I totally get that! All the kids my age where into music I didn't like at all; especially as it got into the late 70s.
Just letting you know I added a shot footnote to my Dee Murray story; czcams.com/video/spa1XxU-8zI/video.html
so true, at the time it felt like rather a small club
As a self-taught bassist, Dee Murray pretty much taught me every thing I need to know about what goes into a great bassline. I cried so hard when he passed away. My biggest regret is never getting to see him play live with Elton. Whenever people ask me who my favorite bassist is, the answer is always the same: Dee Murray.
Dee Murray is my favorite bass player. The foundational bass line from "Crocodile Rock" is perfect.
I LOVE that bass line! It gives the track it's entire feel and backbone. I have a really cool mix of the instruments only with all the reverb removed. You can really hear what an amazing performance everyone puts in. Thanks for watching! Have you seen my latest video about The Elton John Band? czcams.com/video/03EY5Vq-XNk/video.html
Dee Murray taught me how to play bass. I learned every line of his! A very good friend who I worked with in the studio often played on a country compilation with Dee and spoke very highly of him. When my friend told me of getting to hold "THE" fender bass Dee played throughout the years I was touched. I so wanted to connect with his wife and see if she had the bass still just to take a picture of it. He was the greatest! I will forever be in his debt as a bass player.
Thanks for sharing! The music all those amazing musicians created is more than just music. There’s something very special that was happening when they were recording and touring together. They experienced a rare phenomenon. Very few artists have recorded music that will still be discovered and celebrated centuries from now. What an amazing legacy.

So many people determine a bass players “greatness” by how much they play or how good their technique is. It’s less often about blend and pocket but more specifically.....taste.
Absolutely. Dee just had great taste and was influenced by great players. In all my years as a musician I still haven't found anyone I like more. His playing brings me so much musical pleasure. He and the other 2 guys were without doubt a very significant part of what made EJ music so important and legendary.

Wow! What a great story. I was little kid in 70's and loved Elton's music. Wondered about his band that were able to play such great music together. Thank you!
Thank you for the kind words! And for watching!
Dee seemed like such a nice person. How wonderful for you to have known him❤
Thanks for watching! He really was such a cool guy. From the moment I met him I felt like I had known him for decades. It may sound strange to say this, but he really was one of the warmest, instantly likable people I’ve ever met.
I saw Dee Murray and Davey Johnstone playing with Alice Cooper in 1978, a very pleasant surprise because I had no idea that they were part of his band at the time! I kept thinking "those two look like the guys from Elton John's band!" So when Alice introduced the band, it was confirmed that it was Davey and Dee! That concert was made even more special by the fact that AC/DC (with Bon Scott!) opened the show!
Good to know I wasn't the only one who was a huge fan of the Elton John Band back in the day. Great memories, Jon. Thanks for sharing them with the die-hard fans.
Thank you so much for listening!

a shame how elton did them so dirty. similat to how bowie and stewart ditched the bands that made them big
Gus Dudgeon (Elton producer) said he never found a Bass guitarist as good as Dee Murray.
I have to say I agree with Gus. I'm a musician myself and have worked with countless bass players. And I've obviously listened to all the greatest players (as we all have). I have never heard another player as talented as Dee. He has amazing technique combined with an almost otherworldly creativity. Lots of players are technically great. But Dee had the most amazing natural and unique style. I often listen to Elton tracks and totally focus on the bass and it never ceases to amaze me how excellent he was. It still blows my mind on a regular basis.

@@OnlyKidWithCamera Dee Murray was a genius Bassist. He had a melodic awareness on the instrument which meant he could create counter lines on Elton’s tunes which were just PERFECT to expand Elton’s songs to their full potential..He helped to create and optimise so many of those classic hits. We miss Dee and his talent so much.
@@OnlyKidWithCameraHis bass lines were such a study in tasteful melodic counterpoint weren’t they ? Just listen to the bass parts in Crocodile Rock,,,Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting, Daniel,,,the bass line on the Movie version on Pinball Wizard on Tommy….Such melodic intelligence on his instrument…Such a wonderful GIFTED ear.

What an amazing experience! What a wonderful gift to a big big fan of Elton and his original musicians as I am! Dee and Nigel were such as gods for me ! I was very disappointed when Elton fired them, and very happy when he called them back! I live in Milan and I saw Elton and the band on the 6/ 11/1984 during the Breaking hearts tour. It was a great concert! Thank's for shearing your fantastic experience!!
Thank you Mario! That was the only time I saw the original band as well; on the Breaking Hearts tour. I wished I could have seen them in the 70s but was so thankful to see this amazing band at least one time.
Was Nigel the only drummer then, I know he has had Nigel and another these last few tours? And is that album good? The one you saw that I guess he was touring for, if I recall right hadn't he just got Nigel and Dee back ?

Meal Ticket is definitely one of my favorite songs from Elton and one that I rarely heard even mentioned on radio. I do request it on my radio station here in my little town but that's the only time it ever gets played. Peace!
Really glad I found this. 11-17-70 hooked me on Elton and have been a fan of him and the band ever since. So great to hear these stories. Thank you!

Thank you for producing this video! I work at an auto dealer in So Cal, and Nigel has been a service customer of ours for many years, and he is always the most pleasant, quiet gentleman whenever he comes in (it was 2-3 weeks ago when he was last in). We were a Fiat dealer for a time, and he would occasionally bring his Fiat Abarth in, at times wearing a full racing suit and shoes, probably on his way to the track. He's always happy to chat for a bit, and we're honored to have him as a customer!
I would have copied Nigel’s fills note for note too - why mess with perfection? Those sweeping down-the-stairs fills are so iconic.
Nice recollections, I got Dee's autograph and still have it when EJ played the Forum in CA. Dee was very cool to this young fan.
That’s one of the signs of a class act; a famous guy who makes a fan feel welcome. Thanks for sharing your story.

Great story Jon! How awesome you got to meet and record withe Dee and Nigel! I also was a big fan of the Elton John BAND. Elton's early albums through Captain Fantastic were HUGE influences on me. When "Rock Of The Westies" came out and Nigel and Dee were not on it, I was like ???? It sounded so different. It took a while for it to grow on me. For me, Captain Fantastic was the last GREAT Elton album. I liked certain cuts from later albums, but none were great albums over all for me. I became a bass player in my teens and still play to this day. Dee's playing was great. So sad he is gone. I'm sure there are a lot of fans/musicians out there of Elton's early great work with this band - the best in my opinion. Thanks again for posting this.
Thank you so much TD! I had the same exact reaction to Rock Of The Westies. It was good, but was not even close to the incredible creative statement of the original line up. Not even close. The original team was creating pure magic; legendary recordings that will still be admired centuries from now. I'm so glad that I've been able to share these experiences with others. I tried to share what it was like to be with these people and in these settings because usually all we hear are narratives in the form of biography etc. I wanted to share what it was like to be around these very talented people. It was a series of events that I have always considered a gift from God. God knew how important these musicians were to me and I've always believed He orchestrated my meeting and working with them. Thank you also for the comments about my song. It's funny you mentioned it doesn't sound like "Nashville"; that's exactly why I only spent 5 years there; because I was more of a rock/pop artist and Nashville was all about country at the time. Of course now country music is nothing but terrible pop music with a twang! Anyway I'm glad you liked the song. If you're interested in hearing more of my music please check out my CZcams channel or my website @t. Blessings to you!
Love dee and Nigel...but Roger and Kenny were awesome..
And gave Rock of the westies such a great rock and roll feel to it.
Hey guys!! Great video. I loved the Dee/Davey/Nigel lineup as well. But I also LOVE “Rock of the Westies,” fantastic songs and performances. I think ROW is the last great Elton album.

I love Blue Moves. To me, that is the last great Elton album. It has a couple of weak tunes but is overall, an amazingly progressive and mature album. As a kid, it challenged me and expanded my tastes. Songs like Chameleon, Tonight, Idol, One Horse Town, Crazy Water, Cage Of The Songbird, Between 17 & 20, etc. I'm glad that George Michael loved and promoted the album as he became a more mature artist and moved away from pop.
This was great Jon and thank you for sharing with us! Dee is absolutely my favorite bass player of all time for the same reasons you mentioned. Nobody played like Dee and nobody ever will. Such a unique player.
Thank you so much! I agree!
Holy shit I’ve found the other Dee Murray fan lol. He’s my favorite too. I flipped out as a kid when Elton fired Dee and Nigel
@@demonhoopa good man!! It was such a terrible decision.
@@Facts_dont_hurt Right?
@@demonhoopa I did too! I was so mad and confused. I was such a fan of the Elton John Band. They were important to me the way the Beatles were important to the previous generation. Elton's new band was obviously a good band but they were no where near the creative and unique band as the original 3 guys. Dee, Nigel, Davey, Elton and Gus were an incredible team who created some of the most important music in the history of popular music.
What a beautiful story. Thank you for sharing this.
I appreciate that. Thank you for listening!

I remember transitioning from my parents C/W, to the pop/rock sounds on "XL" radio, in the early 70's...EJ's music was a major part of that scene....I wasn't playing quite yet, but my fave musicians/bands were getting that avenue, "percolating"... I remember so often going over the "Yellow Brick Road" cover...my fave pic was of Dee Murray and his bass, that PLANK just lying in the grass! I was fascinated by that!,,,,a few years later, I started playing guitar, and one time a Strat (lefty) I ordered, showed up as a P-Bass! Needless to say, I took it, and still have it....and Dee Murray remains a bass/musical "hero/influence", even all these years later! Thanx, Jon, for sharing these memories! AWESOME!!

i can’t imagine having Nigel in my home to play drums. Being a drummer for over 50 years I was a huge fan of Nigel. He is the drum fill master and played so great on the back of the best. . A true master
What great memories of your heroes you have and thank you very much for sharing it with us. Elton John has many very nice songs but for me the best one is Pinball Wizzard.
Pinball Wizard is an incredible track. It’s one of the best produced tracks from the 1970s. Heck I’d say it’s one of the best produced tracks ever! It’s just a masterful performance in every way. And I can’t leave out Gus dudgeon. The man was the perfect producer for Elton and the boys. Thanks for watching!
I agree, Dee Murray was such an amazing bass player. It's great to hear what a cool dude he was. One of the first albums I ever got was Elton John Honky Chateau followed by Goodbye Yellow brick Road. Even as a kid in middle school, I appreciated the bass on those records! I later became a bass player. RIP Dee Murray and thank you for your music!

Hi Jon, cannot thank you enough for sharing your "once in a lifetime" experience. I, too, would go into my room and pour over my EJ albums and focus on members of his band. I got such a kick out of reading, what to me, were exotic names of guest musicians on some of his songs, like Jean-Luc Ponte, Caleb Quay, Herbie Flowers.... Good for you, striking up that initial conversation with Dee. Your story gets even better from there. Glad you shared the recordings of phone messages he left you. I cannot imagine how touching it was for you to hear Nigel's eulogy at Dee's service. I read over that just the other day. Discovering that Nigel lived in Nashville and respectfully pursuing a dream that was becoming a natural reality. Not least of which, being able to give Marie your condolences. No matter how far advanced technology becomes, there is nothing like that face to face contact when expressing emotions. To me there has never been a more cohesive fit in music than Elton, Bernie, Dee, Davey, Nigel, Ray and Gus. And thanks for sharing your own music with us. You have just the right amount of ballsy and a feel for understanding what lines NOT to cross. Congrats!! And once again, thank you.

I enjoyed listening to your recounting of these exceptional experiences. I have a similar life history with Elton fandom and saw him for the first time in 1976. I actually got a brief handshake from him the moment before he bounded up the stairs to the stage as the concert started. In the eighties, I was one of the lucky ones that got to speak with Elton and ask a question on the radio show "Rockline" (if anyone remembers that). I think I might still have an audio recording of that someplace. Later, as a working photographer I shot an Elton show at The Spectrum in Philly. I share your respect and admiration for Davey, Dee, and Nigel - and for me those years will always be the years the magic happened. Nigel is the most underrated drummer in all of rock history - I've said this often. His fills are literally the punctuation that defines the words Bernie wrote and the melody Elton created. Listen to those early albums. Nigel absolutely OWNS Captain Fantastic... his playing on that album was off the charts. Sorry for the long comment on an older video. I'll search around for your music.

Thanks for your great comments! I’m working on a video that celebrates the EJ Band 1970-75. I have been having so much fun. I feel confident in saying a lot of people are going to love this video! Thanks again!
Fascinating ride, thank you for sharing it with us 👍
Kool stories !! Thanx !!!
Great production, Jon! Thanks for bringing all this fantastic material forward to us all. Yup, Meal Ticket is a beast of a song!
Thanks for that. It was a really personal story which is refreshing!
Thank you for this Jon, and for giving both Dee and Nigel the attention and value they so richly deserve. All you need to do is listen to those early albums, or a tune like "Danny Bailey" to understand Dee's unique style and lyrical bass brilliance. And as you noted, the vocal arrangements those three did are the gold standard for pop vocals. I have shared your love for the band and as you have, was fortunate to experience them many times in those early years-from The Hollywood Bowl Yellow Brick Road show to many other LA shows and as I lived in Seattle for 20 years, some great Key Arena shows as well. I never had the pleasure of meeting them, though we did cross paths when I was under contract for a production deal at Sound City in LA and the band was doing some work there. We were in adjoining studios and I would occasionally here wafts of the basics being laid down, and some brass parts that I believe ended up on Caribou with the brilliant T.O.P. guys. I grew up playing in bands with Rusty Anderson, who I'm sure you know played on Songs from The West Coast. He later Produced one of my albums, and he told wonderful stories of how fascinating it was to watch Elton and Bernie work on tunes in the studio. I am so envious of your experience playing with these guys. What a treat! Thank you for sharing the experience with us.
Thanks for writing and sharing your own very cool experiences. I'd love to know more about your story too. I know Rusty Anderson played on "West Coast" but I know him more for playing with McCartney. Rusty has been a great asset to Paul and he plays Paul's music with such respect and integrity. I'd love to talk with Rusty and hear some of his stories! I produced an album in Nashville and hired a keyboard player named Gabe Dixon who worked on one of Paul's albums with Rusty and the other two guys who tour with Paul. He told me some great stories about working with Paul and those guys. Told me a great story about how they were throwing a birthday party for Paul and when they yelled "surprise" Paul picked up the giant cake and jumped into a swimming pool with the cake! I love those kinds of stories. I'd love to talk music with Rusty sometime if you have contact info him? I'd also really like to hear your music. Is your stuff available online?

Jon, Wow! Fantastic! Great posting. Absolutely loved it. What a great experience. Being an Elton John fan, I became a big fan of Dee and Nigel. I especially loved Dee and his style and playing. Every time I play Dirty Little Girl, Danny Bailey, Grey Seal, etc, I just smile because of his great playing. Thank you for sharing your amazing story.
Thank you for your kind words. So glad you enjoyed my stories!

Good stuff, Jon. I ran across your video on the 1st day of my vacation ( this morning ) and it kept my interest the whole way. Thanks for sharing. Preach the Word in season and out and I’ll be back.

What a tribute and insight you gave. A true fan with a lot of respect given. You made it an easy listen and was quickly gripped. Thank you for putting this out. I was never a huge Elton fan, but as I have aged I have come to love and respect the man and his music together with his band. I'm not a musician, but I love musicians for how they can make an average person feel with their expressions in music. Thanks again.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Thank you so much for sharing these stories. Dee Murray is still my all time favorite bass player. I am so jealous that you got to meet Dee and actually have him come to your house and play on your album. I am always looking for more stories, interviews and videos of Dee. I am also glad to hear that he was very nice and humble. My favorite bass lines with Dee are Danny Bailey, Amoreena, Elderberry wine so many to list.................
Thanks for listening

Fascinating stories, I can't thank you enough for making this video. I've loved and been fascinated with anything Elton and his band since 1972 when I discovered music lol. I never knew where Dee passed away until now. Vanderbilt in Nashville where I've been many times since living near Nashville since 93. RIP Dee ❤
Thanks for your kind words! I hope your trips to Vanderbilt have been for visiting purposes only! 😎

Thoroughly enjoyed this video. Makes me laugh in some ways how amazingly you got chatting or contacted these guys, and incredibly got them to work with you. Nowadays you would have to battle through red tape just to get a message to someone like them. Different times I guess.
Wonderful stories and a great insight into not only how talented these guys are, but what nice people they are too.
Wonderful stuff. I'm now off to watch the session you mentioned. Thanks for posting.
Very interesting stories. Thank you for sharing.
Jon, really loved hearing your amazing account of meeting and working with both Dee Murray and Nigel Olsson. You definitely have had a 'Charmed' life, Dee was an incredible Bass Player and Nigel still a great Drummer. Thanks for taking the time to post this.
Glad you enjoyed it!

This is an invaluable documentary, both of your song, and two musicians it focuses on. Great job, buddy! I envy you. Thanks for posting this. Good to know more about this period of their lives, too. The song itself sounds very Lennon-esque, not what I was expecting from a Nashville musician, but thats the deal with Nashville Cats, they can do anything. The description of Dee's bass when you saw it really brought it to life; I think only a musician would be able to observe and describe it the way you did. The descriptions of the post-9/11 concert made me feel like I was wandering around backstage myself. Thanks for posting.
Thank you William! Your comments mean a lot to me. They really do. If you're interested in hearing more of my music please check out my CZcams channel or my website www.jonblackstone.com. Blessings to you!

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Jon! What an excellent voice you have taking us back in time, narrating some very special moments in your life. So grateful you shared this with us all. I also love your music. I watched the video that followed your Dee/Nigel story. Love the sound, and the message: Peace, Love, Hope❣️
Wow thank you for the kind words! That means a lot to me. You're among several people who have said they enjoyed listening to me tell stories so I decided to start a new video podcast that tells the many joys of being a kid in the 1970s. I hope you will check it out. Thank you for writing! This is episode one: czcams.com/video/1WSw49ccyHM/video.html

Wonderful production Jon. I'm so glad to know you had these personal experiences and thankful you chose to share them with us. Hearing your stories confirms the genuineness, if you will, that I always imagined was Dee and Nigel. I also grew up a huge Elton John BAND fan. My first drum influence was Nigel. I didn't even have a drumset, just several different stacks of loose-leaf notebook paper that I sat out in a circle around me on the floor while I tried to play along with Nigel on 17/11/70. I always wondered about those Slingerlands - wow- "The Blaster" eh? ha ha, no doubt the name is qualified when you hear songs like "Tower of Babel" and "Better Off Dead." Okay, well I'm off to listen to Captain Fantastic now. ;-)

Thanks for this Jon. Being a huge Elton fan and a radio programmer, I thoroughly enjoyed this. I got to hear a "chesnut" song like you mentioned when Elton performed "Have Mercy On The Criminal" for the first time in 15 years, the last of the 4 times I have seen him. Great moments you shared here.
Thank you!

Amazing stories. Thank you so much for sharing. It is so nice that Uncle Elty [who shares a birthday with me] likes to add b-sides to his setlist from time to time.
Really enjoyed your stories about Dee and Nigel....I saw Nigel Olsson and Davy Johnstone play with Elton John last night and the band was awesome...probably the one of the best sounding shows I've ever heard and there have been plenty. Thanks for sharing!!
I just saw them in Jacksonville, FL a little over a week ago and they sounded fantastic! Davey Johnstone blew my mind!

Jon ...Thank you these stories are awesome! I am like you a huge lifelong Elton fan but even more from the Elton John Band. Dee was a one of a kind musician his bass lines on Elton's records are just unique and the backing vocals were superb! Thank you for sharing your stories!!

What a wonderful set of stories! I tried to get tickets to the concerts for Dee but as you know they were very difficult to get. I once flew from Atlanta to Tuscaloosa Alabama on the same plane as his band in 1976 but also didn't want to be one of those people who bugged them but my heart was racing the entire flight!

Jon, Thank you so much for those great stories. I can't imagine meeting the Elton John Band. I have been an EJ fan since 75 but my true idol has always been Bernie. My life long dream has always been to meet him. He came to Shelby, NC in Nov. of 2019 for an unveiling of his art to commemorate the great Earl Scruggs. He was one of Bernie's idols. I live close by there. Bernie's appearance was not announced ahead of time so I didn't know he was going to be there. I was devastated Bernie was so close and I didn't know it. Hopefully there will be another opportunity . Again, I enjoyed your video so much and your voice is so professional.
Thank you for your kind words. So glad you enjoyed it!

Tx Jon for all those great 👍 stories! WOW. So moving! This is by far the best hour lve ever listened to on U Tube. I had to delay what I was doing to finish listening! I too am a musician, so wow those times must have been so awesome 👍. My former band played all over the country so I have got to run into so famous musicians from time to time but nothing like this! I'm recovering from major shoulder surgery so I'm not able to play guitar or bass but I can play my 🎹 piano. So I've been going back to some Elton John songs that I have played before and learned some ones I haven't! Like you I love the songs of Elton and Bernie! I was in highschool in 1973 when I heard Elton, Nigel, Dee and Davey. They along with the Eagles, The Doobie Brothers, and Dan Fogelberg got me to learn the guitar and piano! Saw Elton in Boston in 1974. In his hey day! Blown away. And the Band. Unbelievable! Are you still in Nashville and how is your career going? Tx again Jon your stories made my day! Sorry for the lengthy message! All the best to you and your family! Blessings Bob

Wow Jon. This video is a treasure. I’m so happy that you had a chance to collaborate and strike up a brief friendship with someone you admired and one of the greatest bassists. What a kind and humble gentleman he was. Thank you for sharing the experience of praying for Dee. What a gift. Doctors say the last sensory function to leave the body is hearing and that people in comas can hear. Perhaps he heard you guys? It seems to me that Nigel’s sessions with you may have been a way for Nigel to reconcile and make peace with Dee - all because of you perhaps! Amazing considering you idolized the EJ Band. Cheers, Jeff
