I give TOTP credit for putting on a heavy metal band in 1980. Other than a small group of dedicated fans, metal was treated like persona-non-grata back then. I was looked at like the Devil for my Judas Priest shirt!

I can imagine that lead guitarists’ entire family ,mates & work mates bursting with pride as their lad enjoys his bands’ first Big Break then his big moment to deliver his lead guitar break - he’s obscured in dry ice but at least it’s him - for 6 seconds to then be cut for the presenter to introduce Shalamar or a video by Queen or ABBA . 😩👍
Saxon are brilliant, one of the very best heavy rock bands to come out of the U.K. Biff Byford’s vocals are perfect for the job. This is one of my favourite numbers, my absolute favourite is “Crusader.”

Yeah! I'm Italian, and I heard this song in 1980. I was struck by that sound, and Saxon became my favorite band.
