Best description I've heard about Heilung. Heilung makes you homesick for a place you've never been, and a life you've never lived.
A sense of peace, belonging, tranquility, and an overall sense of home among other things washes over me and I am brought to tears by Anoana

Same. And THAT was the deciding factor in me unabashedly burning through $2500 (and skipping 3 days of college in central USA) to attend the Berlin ritual. I’ve never had a song do that to me before, so well worth it.
I was at Hammersmith in that crowd for this Ritual. Breathtaking just does'nt cut it. Loved this reaction.

I don’t want a single song- I think they’d make a gorgeous collaborative album. Heilung’s first three albums are actually so good that I’m nervous what will happen on their 4th if they don’t mix it up and add someone new who can complement their sound nicely, and aurora’s voice and aesthetic already more than suits them, especially their softer songs.
This...experience (to call it a "song" would almost be insulting), is beautiful beyond words.

Wow, thank you! This is one of my favorite songs of all time. It was one of those songs that after hearing it the first time, I was just stunned. The way it builds without being obvious... The ambience of the piece... I feel it is as close to a "perfect composition" as we can ever hear. Good to see you again! I just wish they could have brought their tour closer to Michigan! Maybe some day...

I've seen them 2 times now Detroit and St Louis. There's just no way to describe that experience. Takes days to decompress and process it all.
I had a 6th row center seat at their show in Greensboro NC a few weeks ago. This and every other performance was indescribable! I already had high expectations but they were blown out of the water. I'm 79 and a frequent concert attender, this was the most mind blowing show I have ever seen.

I can only imagine how great it must have been. They are a show I have been dying to see for a few years now and they just were not close enough to where I live. Believe me, had they been within striking range, I would have been there!
I decided to start saving for WACKEN 2024, so from here forward, that is pretty much where all of my disposable income is going... With any luck, there will ba a few good shows around the same time. My plan is to stay for 10-14 days. My fingers are crossed.

Amen brother. I’ve listened to it 100s of times and break down time and time again, in grief and joy. There is no other music I have ever encountered in my life that produces such emotion within me, period. It is simply put, beautiful, tribal, grounding, and takes us back right to our roots with the sounds and chants of our ancestors.
Just saw them live last week. It was truly magical. Almost 4 hours of amazing music and feelings that I wish never ended. I could've stayed all night if they could've played all night.

Heilung messes with my brain in the best way possible. Those drums and the vocals send my mind to another dimension.

I was at the Denver performance a week ago. The ritual is still staying with me even today. Albeit the view was not as good and the sound loses a bit due to room acoustics, it was still a magical night. To be in the audience and feel the drums and the spears striking the stage really does add to their performance. They are amazing artists and are allowing us a window into our past. Priceless.

There’s something powerful about watching reactions to songs that already make me cry tears of spiritual delight. “Surely it can’t be just me, right?” And with Heilung, it’s ALWAYS a shared experience with the content creator, which reflects back to me intensifying my own experiences…😅

I just went to the concert in Denver on Sunday. I love music. Been to a couple hundred concerts. Mostly Black metal,Goth, industrial ones. Others too. This was the best I have seen in 25 years. I cried. I don't cry. I had energy sensations in my chakras to the point I was getting scared. No church can make you feel like that
I was fortunate enough to see them live with my son. Amazing, transcendent performance.
Like others in this comment section, I too got to see them live in South Carolina just last weekend and had tears streaming down my face for at least 50% of the performance and was elated and shook for the other 50%. It was astounding and the audience was SO into it. Wolf and bird calls (really good ones too) could be heard as well between songs and during the final closing bits of Hamrer Hippyer after Kai says those last guttural final words, he threw up some quick rock/devil horns 🤘and whispered "thank you, you were amazing". Agh! My heart!
I've always felt that music is the closest thing to tangible magic that modern humans still have a connection to that runs deep, but good gods if Heilung are the first music I've ever heard that makes that idea cut to the bone.
The show sounds absolutely amazing. I am green with envy! I hope beyond hope that they head in a more northern direction the next time they tour the US! Thank you for this amazing and descriptive comment and for taking the time to leave it!

With the live "Official" videos, I am usually pretty confident with that click. My first exposure to them was the LIFA "Kriggsgaldr" performance and that pretty much set the standard! LOL

Heilung are hitting a part of us that Needs their music. I would call it magical, spiritual......I can't watch them without being changed from a depressed, life laden person into somebody that feels more than human, full of awe.
When I listen to Heilung, I feel like my soul receives something that it's been missing. I love them so deeply!! I hope you continue to review other titles from them. Heilung is the very definition of healing and God knows we could all as a collective use some of that!!! 👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏

I was fortunate to see them last month, and oh my goodness, hearing Anoana in person was impressive. The whole concert was a potent ritual, I feared I was not going to sleep at all that night.
No idea if there's still tickets available, But Heilung is nearing the end of their current US Tour, with a concert in St. Louis today, Kansas City the 3rd and Denver the 5th. And then a concert in L.A on December 11th.

The “big” pieces from Heilung are spectacular, of course, but Nesso is my favorite. It feels intensely personal.. gets under your skin.
It is a spell against disease and pain, and it illustrates perfectly how much in tune with the source material, Heilung really is.

Heilung in Studio already is way beyond devine human music. Always a joy when a new album is out. But their songs ripe like wine until they are finally performed live.
I discovered these about 6 months - 1 year ago and I think it`s been my best musical discovery ever. I remember the excitement as a teenager, hearing Gothic and Metal bands for the first time, that pure adrenalin feeling. Hearing Heilung all these years later has brought that all back, I am so excited about them and I cannot wait to see them live.
I absolutely love this live version! Chills! They are performing live in Colorado this weekend and then in Los Angeles in December.
I keep hoping that maybe they're going to extend their tour to the northern portion of the US. One can dream, right? Thank you for watching and commenting!

A friend recommended them just before they performed here in Australia, and Anoana live on stage was incredible. The audience was transfixed. Saw the ritual on 3 Nov in KC. There are no words to describe what I believe to be one of the most moving events in my life. Beautifully Primal is as close as I can get.
Saw these guys at a Viking festival in York, England a few years ago. Had no idea what I was going into and it melted my face off. Been absolutely obsessed since, something about those vocals and drums that just gets in your bones

Like you, I tear up with many of their performances, there is something about them that seems to reach deep inside me.
The difference between the official video and the live performance is that the official one visually tells the story of the young girl transformation.
All i can say is that their name couldn't be more perfect - Heilung = Healing and that is without hyperbole exactly the effect their music has on my soul.

Around seven years ago, a Scadinven Prime minster called for The Scandinavian ruins to be prohibited when Heilung Lifa was first performed.
I can understand both sides of that one. On the one hand you want it preserved, on the other you want to use it for celebrations. I don't think I'd ever make a good political leader, I would never make a decision one way or another on that kind of a thing. LOL

"The people have become more sophisticated, and we should change the Law appropriately", and this is what's transpiring. Of course, It is up to you how you process this. I may add for context Sweden is being ripped apart, rapings, shootings, including grenade attacks and crimes of an exponential nature. They have considered activating the army, and fifteen years ago (or so), the Swedes were considering closing some of the last prisons in the country. This, while the Swedish system was sporting diversity, is our strength, but now the prisons are full, and they are having to open more. I am not trying to change your outlook. Missed seeing them in Glasgow during this tour due to ill heallth, was kicking myself, but at least there live performances are available on youtube. Outstanding performance, sure to try and catch them next time they are in Scotland.

I remember hearing this song for the first time while watching the video and one of the first thoughts I had (having seen their other live work and having listened to songs like Traust and Nesso more than any other single song in their catalogue) was “how the fuck are they going to pull this song off live?”, particularly with the culmination in Maria pitching up during the bonfire sequence at the end of the music video. Idk who noticed it but she is going even higher in the live version than what she did on the album, which exceeded what I expected or even feel I deserve. the transitions before and during Kai’s portions were executed smoothly too. I know they had some hiccups with stage issues during Tenet at some of their performances, esp with lighting effects, but this was just so gorgeously done and they managed to capture the epicness of the song without the stellar visuals of the music video. I’m so so impressed. I can’t wait for the full 2024 Lifa, mostly because of Nesso. I’m dying to hear it live.

Normally I’m one of these silent observers that doesn’t comment. I just really enjoy people experiencing music I love for the first time or in a different setting. I was there at the Apollo, third time actually. First time I saw them in the Roundhouse in 2019 an experience I treasure and hopefully never forget. I met someone I thought I’d spend the rest of my life with. We attended the second ritual in York. Danced with the warriors, got covered in black body paint which the hotel was very happy about (not😂). But unfortunately 2020 decided to have different plans for us so we went our separate ways. Anoana was my comfort song during this time. So when this started and the moment hit where it was just Maria singing I think 3 years of build up pain and everything came out (I wasn’t the only one crying) What I’m trying to say is that if anyone is in doubt to see them please do because you will never experience anything like it again. I’m not a religious person but this is probably the closest thing I’ve felt to something higher existing. So to you good Sir I really hope their next tour is closer to you and allows you to experience their ritual as intended because they are indeed quite “Healing” 🤍

in the movie Vision Quest, a cook [?] explains watching a soccer game in which he watches another human being [Pele' ?] flip upside down, kicks the ball in for a score and it brought him to tears. that is how i feel watching this performance. it makes me feel glad to be human that i can enjoy their performance and have it stir my emotions.

I've been to their show last year and I can't even describe how much I did enjoy that! Hands down the best live concert I've ever been to (I and believe me, I've seen many).

Unforfortunatelly (well, depends...) I would say, that this band cannot be captured by any camera... You have to be there to experience that fully!
Believe me, I plan to! They just need to get within 200-300 miles!
