I’m Luke Sherlock, welcome to my channel. This CZcams channel will feature the Bookshop of Wild Dreams series where we renovate, decorate, and launch an independent bookshop focused on sustainability, the environment and conservation. It’s designed to give an insight into our adventures in Frome, Somerset and what it takes to start a small business. We hope to get creative and inspired, sharing the highs and lows of life at Sherlock & Pages. We will also be featuring stories on the English countryside and my passion for heritage and conservation, particularly historic churches. We hope to give you an honest insight through our content and hope you can enjoy, hit subscribe and help support us as we take the leap and hope to do our little bit to make the world a better place.

05:21 Our Story So Far
How exciting for you! My partner and I are planning to open a used book store and book restoration/repair/binding shop in our small town in Pennsylvania, US. We'll keep checking in to see how you two are progressing. Best wishes from the smalltown America.
Congratulations! What an amazing dream. Your location seems perfect, with the beautiful picture window and sitting atop your street. I am so excited for you both and look forward to sharing your journey with you!
Yesssss! Zummmerzet! Happy for you both and excited. Seem like lovely people. I live in Glastonbury so I’m close by, cant wait to come visit the bookshop when its up and running! Woop! 🙌🏻
Good luck! Fabulous project. We have bought a little area of wild forest that used to be a conifer plantation and we are bringing it back to life. I really chime with what you are saying. Don't worry about the climate. It has always 'changed'. There are plenty of books and research papers to prove that. I think it is the lack of human connection with the natural world that has caused many of the issues humans have to experience. I read The Machine Stops when I was 14 and that story has never left me. That is the way humans are headed I think unless we reconnect. But nature will be fine and regenerate. We have seen that in our forest. When we don't go for a few weeks the plants have already taken over the paths we have made. The abundance in Spring is mind blowing!
Thank you algorithm for presenting this to me. Best wishes to you both. Looking forward to following...
Glad you have enjoyed. Wow - definitely our first time in this CZcams algorithm. Cheers
What a wonderful story and adventure! So glad you'll be sharing it with us here.
Thank you Beth! The next few weeks will be really fun as the big changes are coming now
Such a wonderful idea! Good luck with your book shop, hopefully everything turns out as you wish.😊
How exciting for you both! I live in Frome & can't wait to visit you.
When I am in the UK next I will definitely make a trip to Somerset to visit your bookstore. Best of luck.
Cheers!
Well.... attuned to all things 'Sherlock' I would visit - but perhaps vicariously from Canada... lovely location! Absolutely perfect.
I have family in Canada! How you enjoy following our progress
How exciting! Look forward to checking out the bookshop next time we visit!
So happy for you both. I’m really looking forward to following your journey.
Here’s a poem I wrote in the voice of Mary Shelley’s ghost. Like yourselves, she also loved books and nature so it seems appropriate.
Mary Shelley
The blood moon hangs heavy in the sky.
The church clock tolls once, twice, thrice
as the earth trembles, turns and tumbles
and a springtime of knucklebones
surges up through the soil.
The bones of my mother
crawl out from her grave
shrug off their earthen mantle
and embrace me.
My father reaches out
takes my fleshless hand in his.
Others join us
together we stand -
the army of the dead.
Lightning paints us icy white
thunder rolls barrel-heavy
and the lychgate creaks upon its hinges
as one by one
we exit the graveyard.
and shuffle our way up the narrow street.
The first scream rings out
with deafening ferocity -
the impudent woman
who left her car engine running
just a little too long.
The cries of a fly-tipper follow soon after.
Others are ripped from their beds -
the CEO of an oil refinery
who never cleaned up his act
a government minister
who always voted the wrong way.
If I had tears, I could cry for pity
but what else can we do
when the temperatures rise
and the forests burn
and there’s more plastic
than fish in the ocean?
There must be some redress
there must be some retribution.
Yet there is still hope
for those who labour for good
and those who labour to try.
They, perhaps, shall be spared.
For when our work is done
we shall slip once more
below the ground
with those we have acquired along the way.
And with their bones and blood and flesh
the roots of the cypress tree shall be fed.
And its branches shall grow ever stronger
and its leaves shall grow ever greener.
(From my collection ‘Thirty Angry Ghosts’)
Such passionate words 🙌
@@lukejsherlock Thank you

Thank you! More episodes to come soon
Best of luck to you both! I look forward to seeing your progress.
I love that your motivation is to do something positive in the face of your high level of knowledge about how climate change is getting worse and worse... thank you for letting us in.
Thank you - really pleased to read this comment :-)
Cannot wait to visit! :)
We can’t wait to be open. Pushing each day to make progress :-)
Absolutely brilliant! What a fantastic project, cannot wait to give the bookshop a visit as soon as it opens!
Congrats Agathe, what a great project!
Love from India !
I love this so much! As someone who also suffers from climate anxiety (eek who doesn't) I completely relate to this and so exciting you are channeling into such a positive output. All the love and luck! x
Thank you so much Alice. Hope you can enjoy following along. A gentle smile reading this…though sympathy on the anxiety front. Mine was SO bad last year but it seems to be under control with a new focus
All the best of luck, what a truly brilliant and inspiring project!! I can’t wait to visit the store 😁
Cheers Aaron
I'm so excited for both of you! I'm looking forward to what you create together :)
❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
You need to stock one of my favourite books Britain's Pilgrim Places!
We will do!
😻😻😻
🙏
Still not sure about the dog 😂 as long as it's happy 😂
I'm from Argentina but I live in Spain with my British partner. As I attended a British school back in Buenos Aires, that little bookshop in that little cobblestone street, looks like a dream. The words climate anxiety resonated strongly with me, I have suffered it since my teen years, since I first heard about climate change in school. I do as much as I can since then (vegan, carbon conscious, constantly learning, and educating, you name it).
I wish you all the best in this new path you have chosen. Hopefully I can visit soon and get a couple of books. Best of luck!
