  • In this video I rebuild the carbs in detail and also run into a HUGE issue with a rare "shim" not many know about. Resurrecting a Seadoo 97.5 GSX Limited aka the Gray Ghost. This was the first year of the big 947/951 Rotax Engine

    Very educational. As someone who did this in the last year for a 99 GSXL 951 carb set, this should help anyone working on the carbs. Following along on your progress, and caught many of the other episodes, can't wait to see the end results!

      Glad you like it. It's a journey on this one. Turning attention to hull now .. gelcoat and new decals .. may get this running end of season

    When the screws are stripped you can use a pin punch or a large nail set and drive the stripped head back into near the original shape, and then the impact will work.

    What size are the fuel lines. Thanks for the video I just rebuilt mine but the fuel lines are not maked with the sizes? Pretty sure bigger one is 1/4 but what size is the smaller ones?

    • @jonparkmac
      @jonparkmac  Před 3 měsíci

      Smaller vent and return is 1/4. Input is all 5/16" for the hoses from tank to carb. The smaller ones for the accel pump or primer I'm not sure, I reused my OEM ones. Use tygon there, you can get a multi size pack from amazon

    Awesome video. I have a 98 limited with the 951 and was thinking about doing a rebuild on the carbs. Do you think i should change to the richer sizes or stay oem? Also were do you recommend getting rebuild kits?

    • @jonparkmac
      @jonparkmac  Před 6 měsíci

      Osdmarine for the kits. Only use OEM. The cheep knockoffs are prone to have issues. If your engine is stock ..stay with stock jets and turn your H speed out a 1/4 turn and see if it makes a diff. If it does it's a signal you could go up. If you change air filters to say Proc ..they most definitely need to up size or you'll run too lean.

    Nice videos, just subscribed. I am almost done installing my gaskets, opened my accelerator assist pump and noticed that little round orange rubber came off. How important is that?

    • @jonparkmac
      @jonparkmac  Před rokem +1

      It's very important. Check valve I think. I'm told they are hard to find. See if it can go back in. Try to link with this guy, I know him ..he can assist m.facebook.com/2smokecarbrebuild/

    What exact carb kit do you need for stock carbs on the grey ghost ? I got the 46i

    • @jonparkmac
      @jonparkmac  Před 4 měsíci

      This is what I used and fits all 947. But I would not advise stock jets, springs, and n/s for the white setup. The stock leanment system will ruin the motor. I have a second video explaining why. Here's the kit osdparts.com/index.php?main_page=product_free_shipping_info&cPath=595_602_1&products_id=11683

    Great video. How do you adjust them from what I can tell looks almost impossible once installed. Newbie here. Just purchased one running one but with plugs fouling and terrible throttle response.

    • @jonparkmac
      @jonparkmac  Před rokem

      These are the white carbs which are upside down and L screws on the bottom. I have to take carbs off to adjust. Later models are on top and you can get to those. Google seadoo carb chart and see what you need stock and go from there.

    Great video series. Can you tell me why you went up for the jets and needle and seat? Is that in anyway determined by the fact you have oversized pistons or is that unrelated? Thanks!

    • @jonparkmac
      @jonparkmac  Před 2 lety +1

      It's because the OEM setup was way too lean and know issue. This updates it to bring it up to 99 specs. I have another video that explains it

      @@jonparkmac OK thanks. So if I have a 787 engine that has been bored out to fit larger pistons, that doesn't necessarily mean I should change the jetting and n/s?

    • @jonparkmac
      @jonparkmac  Před 2 lety +1

      @@jackbrody7324 right, you can turn out your speed screws a little like 1/4 inch. Those basically are jet bypass channels that increase the flow a little.

    • @jonparkmac
      @jonparkmac  Před rokem

      You have to remove diagram vacuum lines so they're open to atmosphere, remove needle lever shims, use 80g spring, rejet to 99 specs and bigger n/s

    pump side the last black gasket was put on backwards you can tell cause it protrudes

    • @jonparkmac
      @jonparkmac  Před rokem

      No. That gasket has one purpose. To seal the pulse side of the pump. Which is confirmed with a simple vacc test on the nipple. Or did you mean the metering side ..which is not related to the pump
