    STEP # 1 on all DIY videos: TAKE PICTURES! Take them before you dissemble anything at every step of the way. Those pictures may save you a ton guesswork or re-work. Just about everyone has a cell phone these days or has access to one to take nice pictures, so there's really no excuse. Trust me on this one folks. TAKE PICTURES! A picture truly is worth a thousand words. Personally I don't use any sealer on the gaskets on the water pump. The latest kit has a steel gasket for the very bottom, then the contact plate, then another gasket that has sealant already on it (face it up when installing).

      Actually you should take pictures anyway .. regardless of making a DIY video. Also, if you are making a DIY video... then you already have a digital record to refer back too and usually don't need pictures 😉. But yes it's a great point, I do it one way other the other .. especially on intricate projects like carburetors and chainsaws. Thanks for the comment!

    I am in the process of rebuilding the top end of my 2001 XP and have encountered the very unfortunate problem of having an odd number of needle bearings recovered from the piston removal process. I had not intended to do anything with the bottom end (in fact the engine is still in the ski). I have searched high and low but cannot find the missing bearing, even having taken precautions to prevent it falling into the bottom end. I assume that leaves me one option - is there any other recourse other than cracking the case to make sure it's not in there? I appreciate any guidance.

    • @jonparkmac
      @jonparkmac Před 22 dny

      Tilt the ski up a little in the front and spray water under the engine on the hull. Then check the bilge area for the bearing. Use a magnet to fish around there and see if you can locate. If you can't find it ..it's a gamble to run the engine. You could take the bottom end apart anyway and at least replace outter seals and inspect crank bearings. It's not much more work ..just a lot of bolts is all. I have a video on that too

    Great run down on the oil pump. Have the same one on my 787 RFI in a SeaDoo 3D. Everything runs great. Debating whether I should change the hoses going in and out of the pump. It's such a critical component. So, I'm trying to calculate the odds of me messing it up on the exchange vs tube failure on unchanged pieces. Impossible to quantify.

    • @jonparkmac
      @jonparkmac Před měsícem

      I would change them. If they are the black original ones for the smaller lines, it's a must do. They get brittle and crack #1 reason for injection failure. I've not worked on a 3D but the hard part is removing the small lines and getting tiny ear clamps off. A pair of diagonal wire cutters will do it. You'll want to be gentle with those tiny nipples ..they can break. I accidentally squeezed one shut one time 😂. OSD Marine sells the hose and you can use zip ties. I use ss ear clamps where possible, but zips will work. You'll want to bleed the big line and prime the small lines. You can't run premix so it's critical they get primed. Sounds like a lot but it's not bad.

    • @kevinkhater
      @kevinkhater Před měsícem

      @@jonparkmac Appreciate it! I will bump it up on my priority to do list. Follow-up question...are there 3 lines coming on the output side of the pump? • @jonparkmac
      @jonparkmac Před měsícem

      The oil injection small lines go to each intake manifold channel. If you have a 3rd small line it goes to a compressor ..but I thought that was only on a DI. The CB is not fed from the pump as it gets it's oil from the mix south of the manifold. If you have 3 lines total, then two smalls are injection and large is the oil feed to the pump from the tank.

    yeah... People, please dont do what this guy did. I'm a plumber and have been since 2008. The fitting and the way he configured / used them violates many plumbing rules/regulations. For one you can have that many 90's that close together. it will cause drain issues. Second if a plumber would ever need to cable the drains from the toilet flange he would not be able to now because all the close 90's. Third the fitting themselves are incorrect. When you do use 90's for drins line this it should be longsweep. the exception to this is the toilet but only on sharp turn. By the look of this video he used three sharp 90 turns. People just call a plumber you will save yourself money in the long run.

    Great video. Quick question, I have 98 GTX Limited with same flywheel 2 contact points, however I don’t know how to time those raised points to the piston. Can you explain how to properly time it. Apparently only the 98 951 carbs had 2 raised bars on them that mag setup. The 99 and ups had 4 raised bars not two. Thanks for you’re help

      I wish I could give you a solid answer my friend but I'm not familiar with those differences. On this motor there's a standard orientation of the cup holes and risers so I didn't even think about piston timing. Have you looked in the online manual? I usually do that first. If it's not in there, join the FB group called Seadoo 951 Owners. Lot of good fellas in there.

    hi, whats happen if i didnt put what 8 o rings?

    • @jonparkmac
      @jonparkmac Před 2 měsíci

      Those are for anti rattle from what I understand. They don't seal out water from the engine since the channels should be sealed anyway. That said if water does get in there .. it will rust and corrode up the studs down where they screw into the case

    Perfect video, has just the right amount of necessary information! Thanks for making this. I should be able to repair an old Samsung plasma with this.

      Well you nailed it. My replacement speakers came today, it was an older Samsung plasma, but the install was pretty much the same and it's now working.

    That sling seal seals oil into the top half as well, it will push itself into place when you slide the shaft into the top half won't it?

    • @jonparkmac
      @jonparkmac Před 25 dny

      Actually no, nothing touches the top of that seal. That's why they provide that plastic tool. It's not for oil, it's to keep water from spraying up into the upper unit and of course keeps pressure up. It's not supposed press down onto the housing very tight. I see people leave the plastic tool in there thinking it's a part lol

      It's broken in and runs. But having trouble tunning it. When it does open up its like a rocket. I have a gremlin in it somewhere. I've started on 96 GSX now. I'll return back to the GG this fall

    Great video! I just got my 787 3D out for the year and found the 5a fuse was blown. I replaced it and it’s running now but I wouldn’t be surprised if I have to do this soon. It wouldn’t be the first CDI/MPEM I’ve dug the potting out of to replace components.

    Good video, this will help me when I prime my 787 rfi because I can't run premix in a fuel injected engine.

    • @jonparkmac
      @jonparkmac Před 2 měsíci

      That's true. And premix on these models is not a good idea anyway.
