i think you forgot to mention that catcoons can also be useful as butter farmers they kill butterflies but dont eat the butter leaving it for collecting

I'm not familiar with the latest updates, but it used to be that the world generation quite often made a great spot between Dragonfly and the Beequeen. There was almost always a cave entrance somewhere nearby and if I see somewhere warmhole... BINGO!
But then I am not a mega base builder, more a boss hunter.

Where is base?
I used to base in oasis a lot, but it's just such a pain when summer arrives. Yes there won't be any wildfires, but the trade off is having to wear desert goggles all the time (plus you need flingos for grass/twigs to grow anyway). I think the ultimate solution is the lureplant + flingo system which sadly requires quite a bit of time to pull off since you have to wait for lureplants to spawn in spring. In the mean time I choose to just fuel the darn flingos.

@@denizmergen418 It's kinda playstyle dependent. For example, I like to finish cave exploration early summer. I can either keep a desert goggle in my inventory the entire time while I'm downstairs or return home mid summer completely exposed to the desert storm. (Now that I think about it, I could just build a chest near the entrance to store goggles) If I stay in base all summer, I sure as hell would be annoyed by the storm even more since I can't wear eyebrella for cooling and no minerhat at night. Idk, some people are okay with the tradeoff, but I got tired of the extra steps I gotta take to base in oasis (probably because I've done it way too many times).

Don't forget basing at spawn!
I recommend only doing it if you have an endless world and or your running a public server. But keep in mind this may make your base more assessable to greifers

Re: wildfires - lureplants are your friend (they are prioritised when picking a flammable to start a wildfire on; Jazzy made a video about it)
With that in mind:
- basing in Dragonfly desert - easy heat, deerclops trap, trinkets (wigfrid yay), invincible sources of grass and twigs. Not as great of an upside since the disease was removed. Need to wall off the lava pools and/or the tumbleweed spawners - which, if a moose/goose spawner is nearby, is VERY tricky. The sandy turf blocks eyeplants, so no need to craft flooring/change turfs to make use of lureplants.
- Boats/ocean naturally block eyeplants altogether, so I imagine a lureplant with a waterpump every couple of boats takes care of the problem - haven't tried that yet - the amount of wood required for a decent base is insane o_0

@@Woundedstork Wigfrid continuously uses gold for her helmets and spears, and the tumbleweeds provide a steady source of trinkets to exchange for gold with pig king.
I wish you had talked about dfly desert basing, because:-
1-you have cactus which grows all year
2-tumble weeds for grass and twigs
3-easy meat farming with the hound mounds
Though living in dfly is very good, one should not directly do so, he/she must evaluate his/her situation and pick a the most optimal option, a dfly desert at the end of the map with no wormholes is acceptable, but there probably are better options.
Thumble weeds sometimes chougt on fire and set your base to fire but still it's a good option

I always like to base near pigs becuase I love turning monster meat into regular meat, near two worm holes, or close to the tumbleweed desert
Demon: Savannahs are so spacious and central!
The savannah in my world that has one beefalo herd and can only fit half a base, and the only way to get to it is a 2 tile wide landbridge, and on top of that it's on the edge, and that the worst part is that there is barely any grass: lol
It'd be great if you'd make something like a combat guide or something, especially that 60% of the game is basically you fighting something or you defending from something.
I found a great world I had a oasis desert between 2wormholes its great
i like the savanna too because i don't have to deal with randoms trees spawning all the time

I also agree about living at the centre of the world. Living near portal has the potential to lag as that is where more players will spawn. Also need to consider putting too much stuff near each other may lag the server for poor pc users. I mostly prefer an area that access to 3 biome: swamp(reed), desserts(DF, oasis, cactus), and pig king. A lot of things now you can just shovel or bring over. Immovable objects are more important than any other items.
You should mentioned about they setting "loop" on their world gen too. That one giant lake in the center has been fun (tedious) xD
The last "loop" world I had was a complete circle except for the tiniest gap meaning we had to go the whole way around until we could build a boat bridge 😂

i Usually have 2 basis: one Overworld Base near the Pig King and a Underground Base near a lightbulb field.

the things that are important to me to know where would be the best location for the base,
- between important biomes ( pig king, swamp, beefalos, desert)
- 1 or more worm holes near
- ponds (for watering can)
- Sinkholes

Yaay that was the video that i was waiting ! The only thing that i am confused is on which day(s) exactly you start to settle down when revealing your map? Because when i play solo it takes so much time before winter to figure out the best settlement for the base
I know that is not normal for everyone, but I have the tendency to pick a location in my late first autumn. I just keep exploring anti all the edges are found.
Most people do that in 10 days or so, but mine would take around 15 days.
Knowing where the beefalos, spiders and getting mushrooms from caves should keep you with A LOT of food for winter.
There's not an exact day for building a base, but that is my personal experience
@@NadiaCBorba yeah i am a little bit afraid of winter cold that's why I try to settle down as quick as possible to put down the alchemy machine and build the winter gear but there shouldn't be a rush right ? 😅
My general plan for a world is the rush precrafting my entire base and everything I'll need by day 5, explore the map for 5 more days, then day 10 set up base in a good spot, spend the next few days making a pig and/or Bee farm, and then just collect resources and food for the rest of autumn ready for walrus and Klaus in the winter

Oasis doesn't have tumble weeds, that's the df desert
So, as Webber, is it the play to build your base around other existing spider nests and expand on them? Taking out others when necessary (Such as lvl3's to avoid the Spider Queen from spawning + get more eggs)
And when playing with friends/other people as Webber, is it smarter to build your own base away from theirs? I'm guessing even if the nest is decorated, sooner or later someone will fuck up and hit a spider. Or just share the same base and put the spiders further down the road?
just dont base around ALOT of nests. it will lag the game.

I used to like the desert cause of tumbleweeds dfly and cacti, but honestly, tumbleweeds are kind of underwhelming, you've got 20 days (I think?) between each dfly kill, and there's also cactus in the oasis desert, so I think Ill be moving there from now on. Going into the caves every summer for pretty much the entire summer can be a bit annoying

mobile boat bases completely change the game, yes it’s high risk but it makes me look at every world gen for the best places to dock especially in loop worlds
@@somenameidk5278 w/ the newest update you can add bumpers but mostly I use sails just for the lighting conductor
@@somenameidk5278 I usually make shell bumpers (and boat patches) as soon as I find pearl's island, if I add a nautopilot boat I try not to move too fast by using oars instead;
boat leaks are always from pirate or mast-related collisions, so I prefer moving slow and steady
@@somenameidk5278 I never needed more than 3 boats, I wouldn't know what else to build on them, if you're dropping anchor suddenly that could be why they're taking so much damage
but using a driftwood oar shouldn't be so fast that they start leaking if they bump into each other; I'd check each boat's HP regularly or at least slow down before dropping anchor

I'd encourage everyone to play with them on at least once but I always turn them off now.

When I first started playing DST with my brother, who claimed he knew everything about the game and was so amazing at it and knew everything, he wanted to base in the mosaic biome, and didn't believe me, a newbie who only played solo DS before, that there are meteor showers in the mosaic...

Baseing near beefalos is such a waste of time. Even if You don't know how to kite hounds you can just tank them, its 10000 times more efficnt
Maybe for the first few waves but I strongly discourage tanking hounds beyond that without hefty armour or Abigail.
@@DemonRebuilt yeah tanking is not the best solution, hopefully l know how to kite them and the time that they get bigger l already have toothtraps to deal with them

uhm, it's labeled as a beginner guide FOR WHERE TO BUILD YOUR BASE. you can find that all on other guides (perhaps from other channels) THAT ARE ACTUALLY LABELED AS SUCH. or maybe just.. play the game??? the stuff you're very rudely asking for is REALLY basic, and should be evident from just a few hours of gameplay.
