- Welcome to another Don't Starve Together guide! Today I will walk you through Day 1 of a new world and talk about how to survive in your first Autumn, how to fight basic mobs, what to gather, and how to tech up as you map out the world. Autumn is an important season for learning the location of resources and preparing for Winter in Don't Starve Together, and I hope you find the info useful!

The debris from the moon didn't just reach the forest. It's influence has penetrated down into the caves as well, not only mutating its already strange occupants, but opening areas that had been long forgotten. Forgotten Knowledge is the sixth major release of updates under the Return of Them theme and adds two new cave biomes: the Lunar Grotto and the Ancient Archives. It also adds several new mobs, three new crockpot recipes, and two crafting stations including another moon altar and a station for crafting natural turf.
Troubled Waters, the fifth Don't Starve Return of Them update, added new ocean mobs, foods, craftables, structures, and eight new crockpot recipes. It also added leafy meat as a crockpot ingredient and renewable volt goat herds.
She Sells Seashells went live in April 2020. An Island fragment of the moon has left a lonely creature stranded. Is it friendly? Time will tell. New features include messages in bottles, the moon fragment island, the Crabby Hermit, Crab King, new seasonal fish, the Wobster and Wobster Den the Winch Boat structure, sunken treasures, and singing shells.
Throughout 2019, Klei released a series of game updates available to all players, under the single thematic focus entitled “Return of Them."
"Hook, Line, & Inker" will be remembered as the big fishing update. We finally have the tools we need to go sailing and fish around literally anywhere in the ocean. This update added over a dozen new ocean mobs, three new crockpot recipes, and tons of new craftable items and structures. Most of these new additions are tailored toward the goal of dramatically expanding the fishing experience in DST.
Charlie’s machinations have come to a head as she turns her attention towards the skies - and the mysterious entity that awaits there. Our Survivors will be forced to contend with terrifying monstrosities beyond their comprehension, and yet, there may be a silver lining: their minds and horizons will be expanded under the sublime light of an ancient moon.
Here is an overview of what was added in the first update, "Turn of Tides:"
Added a new multiplayer-centric boat mechanic, where players can build and deck out a boat for multiple survivors to travel together on
Added a new Seafaring crafting menu
Added the Lunar Island
Added Enlightenment
Added 3 new Lunar Island biomes, along with new creatures, objects, and craftables
Turn of Tides focused primarily on building the fundamental tech and infrastructure for Return of Them. Since then a significant amount of content has added to both the islands and the sea.
Don't Starve Together is the standalone multiplayer expansion of the uncompromising wilderness survival game, Don't Starve. Now including Reign of Giants; adding new characters, seasons, creatures, biomes, and Giant new challenges to Don’t Starve Together. Cooperate with your friends in a private game, or take your chances with strangers online. Work with other players to survive the harsh environment, or strike out on your own. Do whatever it takes, but most importantly, Don't Starve.
Day 7 and man has got a hambat and a miner hat. Day 7 and I'm just starting to prototype stuff 😂
Day 7, 2:43PM: _Still_ running from the Hounds chasing me since day 4 I got here. Surviving on seeds that came out of birds' butt and random carrots I find lying around.
He got the ham bat on day four 😂
Me: c_supergodmode()
Exactly
Day 7 I’m like “ I finally got gold!! “
i've just crossed 1000 hours in DST, so, i guess, it's time to finaly learn how to not die.
same
im just causing me and my friend to loose, so im trying to figure out how to play, sadly this strategy is comepletely different from how ive played
it's not my fault if the title screen music is so good i don't wanna start playing
@@garethmilo there’s definitely a learning curve. make sure you look into bosses as well, otherwise you’ll do fine until winter day 30. for Deerclops on your first winter I’d suggest luring him into a forest and making him destroy trees until a treeguard spawns and fights him. if he survives just keep doing it
When you said "I know I talk a lot" at the end but honestly all of that info was well said and very helpful no doubt. Big thanks man.
Everyone new to the game should watch this! Most new players seem to be completely lost
Darkness go brrrrrrrrr
I definitely was although darkness wasn’t that bad for me
Absolutely lost :/
For real, there’s no tutorial or anything I had no clue what to even do, this help a lot.
@@l2high_759 yeah the game is really not friendly for new players, I played with friends and eventually we just stopped doing anything because we were clueless "what now?" after we have gathered most of the resources around us then out of boredom we left, am trying to give the game another chance and learn the basics of it
"You might find the advantages of other characters more alluring."
Wes it is!
great guide, jazzy. very well made. my personal advice to new players is learn how to fight shadow creatures ASAP. i see a lot of beginners dying to shadow creatures. they're super easy to kite and you can farm nightmare fuel which is a really valuable resource. another advice is to always be doing something. a lot of new players just sit at base. don't be that person lol.
At the risk of sounding too "aLwAyS bE iNsAnE," I tried making that suggestion as gently as possible. But I totally agree.
@@JazzysGames haha yeah, i totally get it. some DS elitists scream bloody murder if you're not insane 24/7. being insane all the time can be annoying if anything when i want to get stuff done and i already have a chest filled with nightmare fuel. people have a problem with the visuals/audio from being insane which is why i have a mod installed that completely negates the effects. super useful.
for anyone reading this and is curious about the mod it's called "insanity begone." once you make the switch you can't go back IMHO.
I use Sanity Volume Limiter. Godsend.
@@JazzysGames I use my headphones not working.

Great job

Finnay a good guide for my friends
Edgy rick also has a good guide on it. Would recommend it as well.
You guys have friends?

@@m3gusta17 czcams.com/video/-s1JpLmZn70/video.html that's the guide I'm assuming he's talking about, looking past his controversial personality he definitely made some great guides.
@@m3gusta17Almost all of his work are good you just try to blame it on his bad past.
Thank you!!! I got this for the Terraria Crossover and my son and I are running around on a full moon stressing over where we put the science machine trying to grow berries...
it’s been 2 weeks. have you fought deerclops yet?
I learned more in just the first 5 minutes of this video than through stumbling around the game world for 11 hours. Nicely done, thanks a lot.
Lmao some guy joined and broke all my pig houses then said i should uninstall because I told him he can’t do that 😂
If you learn nothing else from your first solo world, you will learn to set players to 1.
I hate when people do that
@@1bingbongtingtong1 pig houses that are scattered around the map are pretty much worthless and they're just waiting for you to break them.
Think of pig houses not as of meat generator but more of "Dead DFly" or "plenty of gears and frazzled wires".
@@d4cto uhhh no, when I go to ruins, i use like 8 pig skin from breaking pig totems and maybe 1 or 2 pig houses, breaking every goddamn house is unneeded and just stupid. they weren't talking about only pig houses scattered across the map, they meant every house, how else are you supposed to make pig houses now besides hammering totems, and there isnt many in the world
@@1bingbongtingtong1 no one breaks every single pig house on earth for rushing ruins or killing bosses, too much hassle as there's always tons of them and even then pigskins are highly renewable and you can find yourself swimming in it pretty easily as long as you keep killing werepigs and I see no reason to not do so.
Jazzy this is a ton of info really fast for new people. I find a lot of new players struggle with food and setting up decent farms at the start. About 80% of the new player worlds i join relay on rabbit traps and beefalo for protection as well as for some reason replanted berry bushes. I am glad you mention all the hambat stuff and stuff just endure you tell them to turn caves on as they use to be off by default. Othen then that pretty good video.
Thank you. I do plan to discuss early farms when we get to Winter. I believe caves are now on by default?
A very well done beginner guide, one of the better ones I've watched! I'm at about 400 hours, all solo, and well past the "trying to survive autumn" stage now -- though I was there not too long ago. Still learned some new things from this video! I'll also note you included some useful stuff (like the pre-crafting) that I I already knew, but learned the hard way, and wish someone had told me when I was first starting! Looking forward to your next video in this series.
beginners guide :
me with 69420 hours : interesting
that is around 8 years of non-stop playing dst
if you invested all that time into one file, you would almost be on year 7418 and day 519260 or above

@@jimmykman7357 wow, you’re a smart one aren’t ya?
Thank you for making this, I’m an absolute noob currently and needed a bit of guidance on how to survive and not die stupidly
Awesome! I just started this game about a day and a half ago, and can't get past maybe day two or three, I watched this and I think I finally have enough knowledge to actually go a week without dying! Thanks!
Love the vid jazzy. One minor thing, even though you did make a point to show the different skins when crafting, building just the default item may be more helpful for new players if they took the time to look at your inventory and keep track of what you are carrying. I know this was one of the things that tripped me up a bit when I first started.
And also.. tree meat. Too good.
Fair enough. I tried to show footage of picking skins in the crafting tab but I get how that might still confuse.
Right off the bat, even though it's from last year, love the fact that you don't try to force anything, you say it's your decision
thank u soo much for creating beginner guides! one of my best friends introduced me to this game very recently & im quite overwhelmed w the game. your beginner guides help so much!
if you can kill every boss in klei official sever, you're legend
1:01 THANK YOU! I play how I want, Games should be played how the player wants to play.
I'm new for this game and this guide is so helpful
This is my favorite guide for new players like myself currently, you make everything seem possible which cant be said for most of these beginner tutorials where everything seems so hard to do lol
Good guide… although it’s more of an intermediate guide. I need something which explains the basics of the game. Like what to do with all the materials you find at the beginning, how to survive the first 3-5 days, basically.
yup. this dude went way too fast..
You have no idea how much this helped me, thanks for the amazing guide!!! :)
This guide should’ve just been the word; *E A T*
How to not starve in Don't Starve Together: eat
Jazzy you are the best source of information. Keep them coming my good man. A friend and I have only just started DST so these guides are priceless!
Thank you. I'll keep working on them!
Probably the best guide out there.
Clarity, newbie friendly, your talking is much needed as they are very informative.
9+ hrs in, I'm familiarizing with the craft icons, and also recipes (played as Warly).
holy shit thank you. the realisation that the miner hat is super easy to craft has been an absolute game changer. for some reason i always thought it was a super endgame item.
I can survive forever meanwhile im addicted to these beginner guides. I have no idea why
Porkus Approved beginner guide, nice job Jazzy
Don't starve is one of the few games that I'm fairly decent at and yet Jazzy is so entertaining that I'm watching a noob guide with things I already know.
ay good one jazzy, was just thinking about inviting a new friend to play, i think its a bit overwhelming to play when youre the only one with less than 10 hours but i guess your vid's gonna help him get the hang of it
The most important part should be learning that HAMBAT exists.
I wish I could know that when I started playing the game.
thank you soooo much
i am new to the game and i was dein all the time by the darkness
and you helped me alot
Thank you so much, I always thought I had to build a base, because of all the machines and the possibility to dig out bushes and grasses. I hate that the game have no tutorial !
I gave a friend DST as a late Christmas gift so im gonna send this to him.
I just got the game this morning, and I've been very lost about what to do. I've made it out to about day 7/8? This video was exactly what I was looking for! An ACTUAL starter guide! Thanks man!
Cool cool, let me know if you have any questions!
Im new to the game and absolutely destroyed by the game. Died a few times. So i find a guide and this is a great guide!
My advice to new players would be explore and fight, learning combat is great to gain new skills and abilities along with giving you lots of resources, exploring is good because you really want to know exactly what your world has to offer before you build a base
Best guide till now, i judt bought it and havent even played and this guide was straight to the point.
The ugly butterfly would make a great nursery rhyme.
Thanks for this
It really really helped a lot cos I just started the game last week
Thank you, this is a helpful starter guide. Just some simple steps to follow.
I have three days playing this game and it's so much information. I'll save the video, thanks 💓
I have 800 hours in that game, but your guides are so good, I will probably still learn something
me and my friends are starting a beginner world, made them all see this to make sure we survive
As a beginner this guide seems good on paper. But I think you need to focus on one part slowly then build up. I did not understand any of it because it was just so fast, well done for trying though hopefully this will help a bit.
With all of the guides out there that waste time with slow narration to hit that 8 minute monetization mark I have been proactively creating content that goes against that style. Some of my guides I purposefully overload with info because I value my viewers’ time and have a ton to cover. If the pacing felt too fast you can always rewatch at slower speed.
I appreciate the feedback but this is honestly the style that I settled on. I hope you found some of it useful.
you said you talk a lot, but I was hooked the whole video, thanks for the tips!
Oh my god i finally made the science machine, but i had no food and died from hunger. When i resurrected at a touch stone, freaking night came and darkness killed me because i had no items to make a torch.
But your guide helped me anyway and i can share the suffering with my friend.
You did so much in 6 days than my group of 3 did in 25 lol!!
Oh my god, so much info! I just bought this game and all this sound extremely complicated haha!
I bought Don't Starve and all it's DLC's, as well as Don't Starve Together like a year ago or something. The thing is, everytime I play this game I can't survive long enough cuz I'm always low on food, and then I stop playing and eventually coming back to it couple days later with the exact same results 😩
try imp
@@pieru imp?
Don't play on public severs, better play with your friends, otherwise you will get blamed for doing any in-game action. Like they will kick you for picking flowers, for eating your food, for chopping trees and planting seeds etc
Thanks a lot! I. have had this game for like 2 years and never figured it out! I kept trying to learn it but couldn't. I also couldn't find a good tutorial before finding you! thank you!
so helpful now I can survive longer
That's really helping me out, thank you, please do not stop 🐟🐟😤🧎
Me on playthrough #5 day 6. "I have a map?"
Nice a useful guide the last one I watched almost the same title as this proceeds to all the season boss
thx
Looking forward to the summer guide.
I know this is a relatively old guide, but if you ever make another, you should mention Dragonfly. I always tell new players to stay the heck away from lava lakes because I could imagine a lot of unfortunate deaths from people being told to scout the map and getting curious about some lava desert.
I consider it a sort of a rite of passage for new players to go say hi to Dfly.
I wish I knew this 20 minutes ago..
So much info in such a short amount of time. I'm going to selfdestruct now. Good bye.
wow this really helped me and my gf, we didnt have a clue what we were supposed to do

I play Webber because I can eat my giant stash of food to keep restoring the damage I take from not doing anything in boss fights whilst my army of minions does all the work for me
Dude very good video fast easy very explanatory thank yuou so much
Personally I much prefer keeping the spear, and any other recipe's I haven't needed for when my sanity starts to get too low, then prototype to sanity heal
Pretty good video, not really new information for me, but I didn't think there will be any.
One thing that displeases me a little is the fact you use skins for your items which alter the look of the item in your inventory by alot. While most players will be able to recognize them, I believe very very new players can have a difficult time to see the difference. Especially when there are multiple tiers of items, pickaxes or axes for example. I would have stuck to the default skins for a guide like this.
I do regret using the skins. Didn't think much of it at the time, just picked skins that I like using. I don't think it will cause too much untoward confusion but it definitely could.have been simpler for presentation.
As a begginer this helped a lot tysm❤❤
You did more in a day than I did with 2 other people in 5 days...
Thanks, I need this
I’ve been playing Dont Starve for years now and I still learned a few things, thanks!
Love jazzy's YT!!
4:42 , I wonder how you keep a whole pig house in your inventory or crafting menu......Wilson must be strong af. Lifting houses.
How about even a few pieces of literal walls the size of the character himself? Survivors find it extremely hard to carry statues around yet 60 stone pillars are totally fine.
