I’m surprised by all the people disappointed by this thing. I think people are looking at it compared to the stomp when they should be seeing it as the new M5. I can’t wait to try one of these out!
I agree. It seems a lot of people want this to do what the HX Stomp, or even HX Effects does. Which is really cool, because those products exist!
People should really be comparing it to the H9 which still costs double
@@adamnesbitt11right
@@worshiptutorials For the price why not get a pod go?
@@easilyoffended7772size? I got this as my “delay” pedal. But having tons of other effects on tap when I’m not using delay is an insane plus.
Thanks for this. You are an excellent demonstrator
I love the poly sustain! Like you said, I could just get lost in it playing for hours. Nice ode to beauty and the beast btw!
Brad’s trem!!! Was my first thought when I saw the details of the Flux 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 hope it gets added to the other stuff.
This review and demonstration are great! You, sir, also have a genuine spirit and that means a lot, especially since it conveys over digital media!! Thank you!
Whoa the flux stuff is super cool. Definitely hope they include that on other products in the future.
A simple update should be enough for the rest of the HX to have it, so let see if Line 6 does it.
A pitch pedal and multieffects, with only 1 effect at a time for the price of 300. I think is quite overprice, the price of pod go is 500 and you get so much more.
Seriously, I’d even be happy with just 2 effects at a time…
So disappointing
A Pod Go is massive in comparison. This is not much bigger than a Boss pedal. You are looking at it like $300 is a lot for one effect (we can pretend like Strymon's don't exist for this convo but I meeeeeannnn...) when in reality you are getting access to over 260 effects for $300. Pretty sweet action there to me.
Pod go in an all in one, this is not
It’s priced better than other things in the market. It’s cheaper than a Blue Sky, Dig, Flint etc, and is more than just one effect type. It’s only a few bucks more than the new cheaper Strymon pedals. It’s way cheaper than an H9.
I mean I get it. For someone with an hx stomp it’s hard to justify the price tag. But for someone with no hx effects at all, it makes a lot more sense. Lots of really high quality effects for the same price as other pedals.
I knew you'd figure out a way to get that overhead angle shot going........I'm proud, keep it up.
Very different situation/scenario here, Plex
That flux ramping option is awesome! And all it takes to add to current hardware is a firmware update. Imagine 3.7 being able to flux between snapshots! That's probably too DSP heavy, but still, being able to assign knobs on your Helix to flux between two reverb settings rather than jumping so you don't get that weird decay drop...that could be huge!
With a midi switcher (PBC) you can use this pedal as a place for unique effects on a song by song basis… helpful for those songs you could benefit from that “one unique pedal” that you don’t always need on the board
Having the shuffling looper in there is nice also
It reminds me of the line 6 m5 ❤
This is a great product to get your feet wet in the e-guitar scene. Great sounds that you guys showed here. Line 6 should pay you guys for getting more of us on the train 😉
… they don’t
Very cool product 👍
Indeed...
I guess its just hard for me to see why I would go with this over the HX Stomp. Its just so much more value. An entire guitar rig, plus audio interface. I also love the retro reel :) I use it on almost every preset
Half the price, half the power draw, half the footprint.
@@jonsee4164 This would be fair if could run half the blocks (4) of an hx stomp. Even if it was just able to do amp+cab + one pre/post effect.
Because some of us don’t like HX Stomp. If I want to dial up an effect quickly, I don’t want to wade through the menus of that little monster.
Could be used in addition to a stomp. For all of the unique effects or DSP heavy effects. It has midi capabilities so if you build presets on a stomp you could tell it to be something different for each preset. Just an added layer of versatility. I have the Stomp XL and I could see a use for this being a pitch, poly capo, second delay/reverb, etc.
This is not meant for hx stomp users at all. It certainly works as a one off pedal for someone running a non amp modeling rig.
Looking forward to Brian's next studio/life update
Enjoyed the video. If you use the Mission co branded SP1-L6H expression pedal with the HX ONE, and connect via a TRS cable, you will get both expression control and one switch control over that single TRS cable.
Great to know! Thanks Paul!
The great thing about pedals like this and the M5 is that they cover loose ends on your pedalboard. Great for effects you may use once in a while. I know people will complain about the price, but you can easily spend as much or more on just one effect. I this and the M5 are made for that, and musicians who a more straight forward pedal. M5 is probably more in my budget, but nice to have this as a option also.
What a great demonstration! Thank you. I don’t use modulation and pitch shifting a lot but need them every now and again so this is perfect. Were you using drive before or after the HX One when you showed the pitch effects?
Retro reel pushes the envelope 👌 it's giving Mobius vibes. Very similar to the Destroyer preset
sound cool
I mean it’s a useful pedal for sure, I loved my M5. Bummed when it broke down. But…I think you need some looper style mastermind thing to make it be extremely useful and place wherever in the chain you want it for the effect used and midi changes.
God bless you Guys!.... #1❤

Sold!
Please upload a long video version of this!!!
great stuff always coming from line 6 just like the old POD in steroids, and without stomps
Does it have a seamless or gapless preset switching? Does it have a trails function when switching presets or bypass?
First example sounded brilliant. I thought, yeah I need that. Then…. Oh darn!! I’ll need a Matchless and an Oxbox as well 😮😂
All the hate makes me love it more! This thing is awesome and like you said, the Swiss Army knife for a medium rig. The flux parameter is worth it alone.
It is so funny to me the folks complaining about it. Especially the folks saying buy another stomp if you want this. Like people that is near 2A of power needed. You are then having to buy a whole extra power supply or use the crappy wall plug for them! Not to mention we have people like Eventide and Strymon making single algorithm pedals that cost nearly as much, or the same. If I was doing a pedalboard and had a switcher that had programable loop order I would be going to town with placement on this thing. New patch now this is your reverb or delay, another path, now this is the poly capo at the front all with a single button press.
I think this can have several approaches to use, due to the number of effects it includes, gain, delay, modulations, filters, reverbs and even compressors and equalizers, all for guitars, basses, keyboards, etc. In a studio, where many times you record each effect line independently and you have this HX One where you configure and record, this also for recordings or productions, or simple layout at home or on the road. For live, it can be a total replacement for those that use a "Delay DL4" and "M5" together (I have them and I think I will proceed to sell them and get the "HX One" that has more effects in a larger size. reduced), just adding a Midi controller and you free up a lot of space on the pedalboard. And for live sessions, depending on the musical genre, where you don't need to bring a complete pedal board, not even a mini pedalboard, you would just bring this one and that's it.
Making me cry there at the end
It feels like a missed opportunity to make an Amp sim to compete with Iridium and the likes of that
It's this generation's M5, but I agree, this should absolutely have been able to run amps/cabs.
Yeah, if only they had a unit with effects and amps…oh wait.
Huh?
It would be cool if they also made a unit that was only amps and cabs, but if they included the effects, they would be completely undercutting their own product with the hx stomp.
I agree. It would’ve been nice if you could choose amp and cab as the effect.
I don't own a HX One because I am a fractal guy, but I watched the video just to hear the PRS Special Semi-Hollow. I would love to see a comparison video between the Special Semi-Hollow, 594, and Cu 24!
Do you know if you can adjust the waveform on the tremolo? I'd love to get one of these, but I'd want to be able to use an amplitude (volume, not harmonic) tremolo with a square waveform.
This unit makes a lot more sense after seeing the pod express
what are the settings for the retro reel? sounds really good but I can’t seem to get that sound
For a second I thought this was a standalone amp sim with all of the HX amps and cabs, for which I would gladly replace my Iridium and ACS for
Huge missed opportunity! Unless of course that would take away from HX Stomp sales. To be honest, the Stomp isn't that much bigger than the Iridium, but does SO much more. This may hit a better market niche of the studio guys who want to be able to access ANY effect in a studio session without a spaceship pedalboard.
It looks like an update/replacement to the - Line 6 M5 Stompbox Modeler
Can you switch from that clean poly to and overdrive by stomp?
If I was to put this on my pedal board to use it at delay, or tremolo or even the looper will it quiet down my chain? I heard it had gates in it that may damper the sound?
So basically, it is an M5 on steroids. I was wishing that product line since Helix was launched. However, I was hoping that at least, it could handle some basic IR capabilities (Think the sonicake IR loader), that would really help for stereo scenarios, but in general it looks cool and probably will upgrade my M5 soon.
When does the bad cat patch drop!? Appreciate all you guys do for the worship community!
We were planning on releasing it today, but we pivoted a bit for this release. We'll have it out tomorrow!
I could see this being very useful if you have a looper with reorder-able loops like with the GigRig G3.
Yeah I thought of that exactly, send midi to change the effect and reorder the loop to place it wherever. Could kinda do that with like the helix or stomp and use the loop block but that would be more of a patch by patch thing with the g3 you can do the loop reordering for any of the switches, granted that might get into overkill territory! haha
Is there a way to have an effects chain--say reverb/delay/chorus with a single button push----kind of like the Zoom Multi Stomp 50G+?
Worth it just for Tye trem and retro reel 😂
Awesome Really beautiful pedal. Could you please tell me what guitar you have in the video. Its really nice. Cheers
Could you use Morningstar mc6 to control the Line 6 Helix One?
Did no one else catch the "see what else is coming" After he told us to go check out line 6 and their socials?!? Should we be cautiously optimistic....? But great review! That pedal is basically a compact catch all that would be amazing for mostly modulation stuff and then the occasional pitch shift or other whacky effect
Meant absolutely nothing haha
A man can dream…
I have a feeling this will be replacing my Neunaber wet stereo.
Was thinking the same I have a neunaber.Did you proceed and what do you think?
Bradford does this have a editor to dial sounds or is it just a updater and preset mover?
Unless you could control it with a midi pedal like a pod hd 500x. I’d like to know how you can organize this. I have in my studio a sound module for a midi keyboard. It’s loaded with great sounds, I could only ever use this in my studio.
Not Bradford with the Disney licks 🔥
Ight that Flux feature needs to come to the other Helix products PRONTO.
AGREED
Was this set post drives for the poly capo?
It was physically but the drive came from the amp for that clip.
Can you choose the color of the LED lights? Or are they already preset?
Good question! Not 100% sure off hand but you can adjust on the Helix so I’d imagine so!
I would use it for worship music and interested if 12 string guitar effect is in that?
That’s basically what zoom did a few years ago with their MS 50 Bt… a single pedal that can provide effects you don’t use often like a tremolo, phaser, octave maybe.. just one pedal to replace all the odd and weird pedals you only use for one song intro every once in a while and don’t want taking space on your board…
Can you load just an IR? 🤞🏽 If you can, I can see it as a good option for weeks you play acoustic only so you don’t have to carry your Helix just for an IR.
you could get a tc electronic ir loader, for about half the price used...if thats all your using it for...
If it loads amp blocks and IRs I would be interested,
No amps, unfortunately
2 switches and only being able to toggle one single effect at a time was a big miss IMO not giving us the option to configure it to toggle 2 separate effects.
I love my stomp HX but the form factor of this thing would have been perfect for a cramped board but I REALLY need to be able to toggle 2 different effects.
Not really related to the pedal, but how do you like that Special Semi-Hollow compared to a DGT or a 594?
to me they are veeeerry different. The Special is like a souped up 335. DGT is more LP-esque. To me.
@@bmitchellmusic If you could only choose one to have as your only humbucker guitar, which would it be for you? I appreciate the insight, that's kind of the vibe I get too, but out of those three I've only ever played the 594.
@@paultiplea I'd say a 594 sits in-between the 2. If you want a 335-esque thing then get the Special. The DGT was meant to replace David Grissom's 335 tho funny enough haha
I don't typically answer 'if you could only have one' kinda questions the way people want cause I can think of so many scenarios that would change my mind or yours. But if it helps...I don't own a DGT. I do own the Special ;)
@@bmitchellmusic It definitely does help. I appreciate you taking the time to engage in this convo!
Between the DGT and the Special… That’s a tough one. DGT definitely has more LP vibes to me, too (this is Brian BTW).
Neck on the DGT is also different. If you can swing it, you’d definitely want to play the two before spending that much money to see what you really bond with.
Personally the 594 is 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
You had me at flux capacitor.... I mean parameter 😅
How close are the effects to Fractal? Is this truly in that echelon....
The pedal is OK, but that guitar is amazing!
You can now carry a helix around and mix it up with your analog pedals or use it at the very end to kill noise. OR you have everything but you just want a Minotaur with your big sky möbius timeline morning glory and ocd drive and tube screamer and your kilt. Or you have awesome irs and you just wish you could just have that amp without buying an iridium
Demo for basss players plissss
I’m a line 6 fan going on 2 decades now, have a lot of line 6 gear. I’m sure this sounds helix all the way, but if a person wanted to use this live , I just don’t see any way to quickly look for sounds on a song by song basis. Ie presets. ?
Wich amp was used for this demo?
Bradford used his Matchless H/C-30 and 3rd Power Dual Citizen in stereo. We like to refer to this as 'Budget Rig B', haha.
If you have a moment, what are the dimensions on the pedal?
5" x 3.75", roughly. Just noticed that nobody has the specs published. Kind of strange...
Thank you!@@worshiptutorials Off to Pedal Playground to find a spot on ye olde pedalboard! 😎
Does it have a tuner?
it does and a looper
So.. I’m guessing this can only do one effect at a time right?
From what I heard, yes
Can I use this pedals to delay only?
Yes it includes all the delays from the HX modeling
Thanks bro!
Great idea to replace the outdated M5, but it's too expensive for what it is. It should be two hundred dollars or less.
Poly Sustain Beauty and The Beast cover?!?
I came to point that out.😄
🤓
This is what I came to the comments for. My 2 and 4 year olds ask for it on repeat.
anyone does this pedal have a built in tuner?
Yes.
My guy playing Tale as Old as Time “ barely even friends, then somebody bends…” @ 10:45 seconds ish.
I truly feel like $300 is too much for this pedal. Although the tones are ,I'm sure amazing, but your not getting the amps nor IRs ext.. you can only use one effective at a time, and for that price, you can get a used HX stomp for that.. just wouldnt pay over 200 for that... but good review!!
Hopefully, you are equally disappointed with eventide charging $300 for single algorithm pedals like Blackhole, or the H 90 which does only two algorithms at a time for $900.
@@keithbolves278 H90 is a whole nother level of ridiculous joke! But yeah, $300 is kinda the norm now.
You can't get a used HX Stomp for $300, lol.
@onefourteen yeah you can. I've found some on Facebook market place as well as on reverb for 300.. just have to look around.
@@Jrocketsands may want to look again…. Cheapest was $412 on reverb plus tax and shipping. FB is $400 and up. $100 more than a new hx one and $200 more than a used one.
People will complain and then go out and spend $400 on a compressor pedal, granted it is a great compressor pedal, but still $400.
If it was $200 it would be a better buy. That said how many effects pedals out there now hit that $300 range and only offer one trick? I could see adding a couple to a HX stomp pedal board just add some more blocks. Question is since it has MIDI would you be able to turn the foot switches in to additional snap shot switches on the stomp? That's a game changer if it could.
No because the stomp can only do 3 snapshots.
@@UTAH100 Haters gonna hate

do not have one of those!
zoom is much more functional, but line 6 is certainly better in quality of effects

A good analog pedal will never sound like all these digital products
you like good warm tone: you don't buy this kind of pedal
you like digital effects: you take your daw and your analog pedals or a software
that's all
Everyone, please, it can be bought used for $200. Keep in mind the H9 which does ONE effect at a time is $599 new, and it doesn’t have overdrive effects aight.
Get your panties out of a wad.
Real missed opportunity to make a budget HX Stomp. Even if it was just two effects at once. How hard would that have been?
We need an hx amp pedal
Can't you use more than one effect simultaneously?
Just one at a time
Dude, an ad at the start that's fine... but 3:40 min in another one? Poor.... won't be back
Not on us. That’s Google! Sorry!
That's nothing. I recently changed the knobs on my amp. They are numbered 1 through ELEVEN. That's one louder!
If you could run 3 effects at once it would be worth it.
But then I’d want an effects loop.
They make that already. You’re describing an HX Stomp my friend ha.
This pedal does everything…except amps
Doesn’t that kill the HX effects ?
Videos only been out for a few minutes - keep watching 😂
HX Effects is like 6 of these (or more) in a single box, and for less money. So it's really just what you want out of a multi FX thing.
It's more of an attack on the H9.
@@revbaxter3681h9 sounds much better though... Something doesn't just become an h9 by being overpriced
@@pb25193Except that I hate the algorithms in the H9. They’re ancient algorithms and sound like it.
The Line 6 M5 does just about the same for almost half the price
that M5 is ancient at this point. This is probably their way of updating this. It has all the effects the M5 has plus all the Helix effects.
Mmm…. Sounds like its closed in like all line6 products
If this could run more than 1 effect it would be on my watch list. As it is though just get a used stomp for a bit more and almost as small a footprint.
I am not sure who this is for…
I explain that in the video :) A Stomp is twice the size. I have no desire to run one of those on my board. And I don't need a pedal that runs multiple effects at once. I know I not that only person feeling this haha
