What's on in Newcastle 21st - 23rd October 2016

Tony tells us what's on in Newcastle between the 21st - 23rd October 2016.
First up on Friday Bernard Fanning will perform at the Civic Theatre in Newcastle. The performance is a part of his `Civil Dusk` national tour which marks the 10 year anniversary of his solo career. He will showcase songs from his new EP and also, some old favorites. Tickets are available on the Civic Theatre website.
Also on Friday, `Andre Rieu` will perform at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre with his with his Johann Strauss Orchestra. He is described as the `dutch king of waltz` and is the world's most successful violinist having sold 40 million CD's and DVD's. Tickets start at $80 and are available on Ticketmaster.
Then on Friday, Saturday and Sunday the Biannual Newkulele Festival will be held at the Newcastle Jockey Club. The event attracts over 2000 visitors from around Australia and New Zealand and the world's best ukulele musicians from around the world. There will also be workshops, comedy shows and food. and on Saturday `The Sydney Hotshots` will perform at the Hamilton Legion Club. The tour marks their 20th anniversary and their sellout tour is still in high demand. The performance will feature tributes to Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake and more. Tickets are available on Ticketmaster.
now something for the family, this Sunday `VOLUNTEER MARINE RESCUE` will hold an open day at Lakeview Parade Park at Pelican. There will be a a large range of emergency and community services on display including The Police, water police, fisheries, fire brigade, SES, customs and the Westpac Rescue helicopter. Other attractions include market stalls, food and an entertainment stage. The pelican boat base and Swansea Heads radio base will also be open with a free regular shuttle bus between Pelican and Swansea Heads. Information on the Marine Rescue Lake Macquarie Facebook page.
Also out west on Saturday and Sunday the balloon festival will be held at Pokolbin. Here you can enjoy a spectacular ballooning adventure with 20 colorful balloons then indulge in a delicious champagne breakfast on the deck at Peterson's Champagne House. Visit the website for more information.
