@@tomfroekjaer If that's not indiscreet, how old are you ? How did you stumble upon Caruso and opera in general ? Did you get interested alone or did someone introduce you ?
@@abcdefgh-db1to I'll be 70 later this month. My father introduced me to Caruso and I bought an LP around 1970. Classical music has interested me since I 13.
@@tomfroekjaer Oh wow, personally I'm 17 and I discovered opera approximately 1 year ago by stumbling across Franco Corelli's Di Quella Pira on youtube, I was completely mesmerized by that incredible voice. I discovered then all the other great singers ( Caruso, Del Monaco, Di Stefano, Gigli, Schipa, Pertile, Lauri-Volpi, etc... and also the great sopranos and baritones ). Haven't returned really to the other types of music I used to listen, even though I can still enjoy them. I'm still discovering new singers and arias and am still amazed by the incredible instrument that is the human voice when used with great virtuosity that solely the very greatest of opera singers have !

What a pity we don't have high fidelity stereo recordings by Caruso.
*Nutzer jeden Alters hören* an ihren *Endverstärkern* - sogar mit sehr guten *Lautsprechern* - Musik und ebenfalls Sprache meist nicht ganz *'echt'.* Das ist wichtig, denn wenn jemand glaubt, dass Caruso in NATURA so geklungen hat, wird er enttäuscht werden müssen. Sie können eine exzellente Übertragungskette haben und trotzdem wäre der Klang erst 'natürlich' einzustellen, falls Sie daneben den wahren Caruso singen hörten! Dann *könnte* sein, dass Sie mit geschlossenen Augen einen Lautsprecher kaum von Caruso unterscheiden würden. Der *physiologische Höreindruck* muss bei jeder Wiedergabe berücksichtigt werden, selbst wenn noch so gute Restaurationen vorgelegt wurden. Deshalb ist individuelle Klangbeeinflussung mit einem EQ 'legitim'.

Die kleine Mühe der EQ-
Einstellung lohnt sich....
Der Eintrag wird ergänzt, weil es sehr unterschiedliche EQ gibt. Er bezieht sich hier allgemein auf eine *'Bass Booster App' 🎧 - ohne* das Zuschalten des BASS BOOST. Die meisten gehen heute mit Bluetooth im Endgerät/Handy mAn. richtig um ('Advanced settings' *überprüfen,* den BBoost selbst vorsichtig verwenden, falls man ihn nutzt).
'Compatibility Mode' der App und evtl 'Sound Field *FLAT'* Ihrer Anlage. Bitte *Artikulation* oder Begleitung beachten; so wird die Auswirkung klar: detailreicher, brillanter Klang - obwohl EC ohne Mikro.
Vergleichen Sie bitte ab 0:25 mit/ohne die EQ-Variation .... wie ein etwas verschwommenes Foto insgesamt klarer/schärfer wird. Auch an Instrumenten oder Textverständnis ('Surrogatparameter') ist der präsente differenziertere Klang erkennbar. Warum es sich so verhält, kann man am *Graph* der Funktion, die aus dieser *genauen* ! Regler-Position ( kein preset ) resultiert und eine Crescendo-Verstärkung der hohen Frequenzen zeigt, diskutieren: Er erscheint im Display. Wiesehr hochwertige Lautsprecher den Klang verbessern können, ist bekannt. Dass ein EQ das Ergebnis günstig beeinflussen kann, ist viel *weniger geläufig.*
Caruso's voice is magnificent, crystal clear and incomparably better than Ernestine's!!!
She was 52, as I recall, in 1913, so she had seen better days, I'm sure.

@@rigoletto6115 No excuse necessary. She was a star when he was still singing in restaurants for pennies. She performed for Brahms and with Mahler. Richard Strauss selected her to create Klytemnaestra in Elektra. Caruso felt honored to sing with her.
@@chickenschnitzel These "achievements" you mentioned have nothing to do with the singing quality of a singer.
EINE HERRLICHE AUFNAHME
Not their best performances, objectively, but I will say that Ernestine emoted more realistically than Caruso. Caruso has sung better and more realistically on other recordings, where his voice radiates like a shining star.
However, S-Heink's singing techniques are obviously flawed, and the aesthetic feeling is also slightly insufficient. It is not worth advocating to sacrifice singing technique and aesthetic feeling in order to highlight emotion.
Many of Ernestine's recordings have some unsatisfactory aspects, but few people mention it
I don't judge her by the styles of today or of the 1950's. She sounds absolutely consistent with the expectations of many singers of her era. Styles and interpretations change. It is wise to look at what each era was attempting and considered the best representatives of their time.. @@belcanto9387
