    Commenters are concerned about what happens to the water after it goes through the DPF. While you might think it just goes down the drain, it does not. The machine operates a closed-loop system so the water gets filtered, and used again. No soot or ash goes down the drain!

    • @ElaBellll
      @ElaBellll Před rokem +9

      well, its not really blasting it out into the atmosphere during a regen. What is happening is the high temperatures cause the soot to oxidize, turning it to gaseous compounds like CO2. The point of the DPF is to keep the fine particles out of the atmosphere, CO2 is much less harmful to humans than the soot particles, so that is the method taken.

      This is a video of a DPF (diesel particulate filter) being cleaned. Every diesel engine has one of these and it helps to remove the harmful exhaust from the air before it leaves your tailpipe. Overtime they build up with soot and ash and either need to be replaced, or cleaned. What you're seeing here is one being cleaned, we pump water and detergent though the filter to remove the buildup then let it dry before reinstalling on it on the truck.
      Here is a video that explains the after treatment system better if you're interested: czcams.com/video/EqKtocVNM4I/video.html

    Just imagine the hydrocarbons and emissions this facility and others produce on all levels? Does anyone really believe this offsets the diesel engine emissions? Think about what it took on all levels to create an entire industry to reduce emissions? What do people think it took to build the buildings, manufacture the steel, mine the rare materials distribute the equipment, planes trains trucks ships all run on diesel or jet fuel all from oil, do you really believe it works? You May reduce emissions directly out of the exhaust of the vehicles using it but the entire industry produces more emissions in return. So think about it there is no gain. Your just moving the emissions from one place to another people need to realize this.

The cleaning machine is a closed-loop system too, we clean and reuse the water and when our cleaning filters are full, they are disposed of safely.

    DPF air flow rate is about 8000 liters/minute for a 2 Liter diesel engine at 4000 rpm/minute ... air is less dense than water for about 800 times ... but generaly speaking air will leak 300 times faster than water ... so doing the math 8000/300 is about 26 liters of water per minute at normal engine pressure ... at 0:21 , 0:22 seams normal to me ..... what doesn't seams realistic is the flow at 0:24, maybe the pressure will force that volume of water , but can it damage the filter ... thats my question

    • @hasturm1232
      @hasturm1232 Před rokem +2

      Guardandolo a velocità ridotta sembra una spruzzata di picco istantanea per creare una pressione sufficiente a cercare via di sfogo in modo da stappare i passaggi. Probabilmente la laminazione crea frazionamento e schiuma che visivamente fa sembrare la portata maggiore del reale. Inoltre durante la laminazione il fluido aumenta la velocità e probabilmente il getto che consegue, sommato al frazionamento, fa sembrare la quantità maggiore.
      Il dubbio più che altro è se non subisca danneggiamento, il sistema è studiato per passare gas, non ho idea se sia studiato e calcolato in funzione della resistenza che opporrebbe con un fluido come l'acqua (o quello che viene usato, in caso sicuramente si userebbero detergenti con tensioattivi per ridurre la tensione).
      In definitiva, passare ci passa fin che la resistenza lo permette, il problema è sapere il limite di sopportazione e sapere se lo danneggi o porti suvessive conseguenze.

    • @hasturm1232
      @hasturm1232 Před rokem +1

      Aggiungo che appunto anche io avevo scritto che l'acqua è più densa ma basta dare una pressione sufficiente precisando che non deve essere tale da "sfondarlo".
      La pressione si trasforma in velocità, per fare un esempio semplicissimo, come quando si mette un dito davanti al tubo del giardino per far arrivare il getto più lontano. Si sta laminando il flusso e se il tubo lo sopporta si può laminare fino al limite in cui lo strozzamento, non avendo più energia sufficiente, inizia a ridurre la portata.
      Comunque questo sembra un macchinario "studiato", non un "fai da te artigianale". Credo e spero abbiano fatto bene i calcoli quando lo hanno progettato.

      The holes that the gas pass through under normal operation are the same holes that the liquid is passing through during the cleaning process. The filter is made of a very fine material which is big enough to allow the passage of gas (and water) but not the soot that is generated during normal operation. The water/detergent mixture is pressurized going into the filter which allows for more liquid to pass through than one might think.

      Quel filtro sembra grande.
      Se calcoliamo solo 5 litri di cilindrata ed un ciclo ogni due giri avrai per un regime di 2500 giri minuto:
      5×2500=12500 litri minuto (208 litri al secondo)
      12500:2=6250 litri minuto. (104 litri al secondo).
      Ma come sappiamo, la portata dei gas di scarico è maggiore di quella in ingresso quindi maggiore nella realtà, questo calcolo vale per la quantità in ingresso e non il volume non è poco.
      Se la cilindrata fosse maggiore come il regime di giri, immaginiamo quanto "fluido" può passare.
      In pratica l'acqua ha solo una densità maggiore e necessita di una quantità d'energia sufficiente per passare, bisogna solo non superare il limite in cui la resistenza al passaggio sarebbe talmente alta da "sfondare" il passaggio. A mio parere e a parere della fisica, ci può tranquillamente passare.
