I am surprised that in 10 years the battery life has increased so so so little that it still is inconveniently small. I’ve bought and returned the Apple Watch (and Ultra’s) every year in the hopes that the battery would last long enough for me, but sadly no.
People can’t really get mad at the band situation. You’ve had 10 years to be able to re-use them on every watch up until this point. I think it’s time for a change to help improve the watch overall
Micro LED starting small makes sense because each large display can be cut down to make the most of each expensive display. Once they nail the tech, they can spend less on each slab of display, and cutting it keeps costs low.

When you were talking about the new band system my mind immediately went to blood pressure measuring. I always figured it wouldn’t work with the current band systems because you need something to build pressure around your wrist to measure but introducing a new system should make room for that.
You don't necessarily need a band which builds up pressure to measure the blood pressure. At the moment it is done with optical sensors which have to be calibrated every once on a while with a regular blood pressure monitor.
When glucose monitoring? Would be a groundbreaking update imo.
Rumors say that that's coming in the early 2030s

I am skipping the Ultra watch for the Series 10. I’m really hoping for a sleek redesigned watch that isn’t bulky like the Ultra
Even if they do put in a larger battery, I'm not sure that will translate into longer battery life. There have been battery improvements throughout the watch's history and the battery life has stayed the same, basically, because Apple use the extra battery life to do things like power better displays, better chips, extra health features, etc.

Is this a good idea or shall I wait for the 10? I’m iffy as I wouldn’t want to pay full price when the 10 comes out so would have to wait another year for it to go down

I would like to see a touch less mode with more buttons, honestly. I had a series 2 and 5 and gave them up for Garmin. The AW Ultra action button only helps slightly with the sweat and gloves issue.
There is already a touchless mode. You can set it up with accessibility.
So the sizes now are 41mm and 45mm, what sizes would the 10 be? 45mm and 49mm?

I’m planning to upgrade my series 4 next year. Think I’ll get next year’s Ultra. Hoping for a black version too. Let’s hope whatever new features the 10 gets they add to the ultra too.

I’m currently an Apple Watch S5 user , and would like to upgrade if the additional health features ie Blood Pressure & Blood Sugar monitoring is available due to my catching up age…..

Today, I ordered 2 Watch bands and a 3 way charging stand. My current charging stand is 3 way technically, but the "third" provision is a USB-A port. The new stand actually has a shelf for the watch to charge on behind the phone charger.

I've daily the SE 2nd gen Apple Watch since it basically came out purely bc it was cheap and I didn't require that much from my watch. I've since been focusing a lot on my health and utilize my watch a lot more and I would love to upgrade to get a specific set a features for my particular case. I'm mostly excited for a bigger battery on the watch. I can get a consistent day and a half of use on normal use, but workout mode eats up 20% - 25% battery after a 1 hour workout. So maybe if I can get a full 2 day, 1.5 night battery or a complete 48 hour battery on the watch, that's all I can be happy for. As much as I would enjoy the ultra's battery life, I can't justify that $800 plus the cellular service I would need to use it.

² I got the ultra too but I don't have an iPhone so it's just a black watch that still wear it for $850 I'm wearing it everyday even if I don't have an iPhone I can't even tell the time on at least you know I got it
for me what I really want is a circular design and a battery that lasts at least 2 days
I had a dream that iOS supported the generic video call profiles and the Apple Watch got a camera and a belt clip accessory (idk why), but it’s funny that this is the first video I see when I wake up 😂

You’re totally wrong about Apple working its Micro LED tech from small to big. The most difficult aspect about Micro LED is the miniaturizing of the LED. It is easier to make larger displays, and that is why Micro LED displays are in the over 100” categories, and they cost $100,000 USD for the smallest displays at almost 100”, and the displays are not even 4K in resolution.
This is how hard it is to make the LEDs small.
Also, Mini LED is an LCD display, and the main difference is the back lighting, which uses small LEDs in zones to control how much light is utilized.
Loved the iphone X, i still remember picking it up on my way out of town, got to the hotel, couldnt wait to set it up, went though the process, setup the passcode, so it finished and reboots and asks for the passcode for the first time, and it keeps telling me im wrong..and locks me out! I was pissed. I had to wait till i got home to connect to my PC to do something that i cant remember to get it working.
4:04 I don’t think so mate. Planned obsolescence is what apple lives by. If they can make old bands unusable to sell more new bands then they will do that. As user friendly as ios is the company is opposite.
I agree. Otherwise they would have designed every phone to fit in the same covers as the last one, but they have not.

the ultra get to 39 hours so in theory, 49mm will be a new size that offers bigger battery.

Interest in the Apple watch is slowing down because you really have two options: dated design or too freaking expensive. The Apple watch ten needs to be somehow affordable yet different enough to generate that boost in interest. You know, what three Apple vision pro won't be able to do.

I have a couple of Bandwerk bands. They’re great; really nice quality leather.
Now that lightning is phasing out they will probably change the Watch design, so everybody has to buy new watchbands.

apple needs to make a new band system where there are connectors at the band connection point where the band itself can be the battery that charges the primary battery in side the watch. not sure why apple hasn't already done that
I literally got rid of my apple watch series 8 within a few weeks purely because of battery life... been happily using my garmin forerunner.. gets easily 1.5-2 weeks of battery life even with sleep monitor turned on
I don't think a magnetic band system is the way to go. Wouldn't that make the watch easier to fall off of your wrist?

Oof. I have a Series 6 which has a maximum battery capacity of 80% now. I’m also torn about trading it in for a Series 9 model or waiting for next year’s X model

The band is a bad idea to me because of people's investment into buying so many styles of them. I purchased the Apple watch 6 44mm GPS & CELLUAR and then they switched to 45mm the next year🤨. I purchased very expensive cases and bands for the 44mm thinking this was going to be a standard. The next watch was the Ultra but nothing after that. The new 44mm is the SE... no go👎🏽! If you want me to spend money "this ain't it"! This helped me understand why so many people have older version of this watch. So then the next the price hike because they miss the money. The Ultra2 went down in price too fast. Samsung did it right on the bands the old and new so far fit... Love your straightforward videos!

I hope the X has some more angles to the chassis akin to the Ultra. The current design has gotten boring and almost makes it look cheap. We need a more affordable rugged looking option. I’m not paying $800 for features I’ll never use just because I want a better looking wearable.
At least 11 day battery life….may be then I will get over my Garmins.

Blood glucose is the health feature they need to bring to market now.
I will never return to an Apple Watch until they bring back the ability to receive audible notifications on the iPhone while having an Apple Watch connected. Then we need to talk about the one day battery life. I mean, wearing it for the day, then trying to track your sleep, except the battery dies. Genius! Have 24 hour functions, but supply a battery that can’t make a full 24 hours before charging

7:40 wrong. It can’t be peak maxed out. I’ve had the original Apple Watch and now I’m on my Apple Watch SE from a few years ago. My mom just got her first Apple Watch. My dad , My sister , my nephew doesn’t have one. A lot of my coworkers don’t have an Apple Watch. Still more sales to capture.
