The crowd in US Open is the worst - I went to US Open several times and the level of noice when players play is insane. Also they forget fairplay when it comes to US players - cheering in between serves and after a double fault. Sad😢

Eloquent? She used a double negative when speaking to the umpire and yet another during the post-match press conference. Here at 0:57 she screws up an easy adverb in the span of a two-minute talk. It shows a lack of education and that's true of many tennis players who have devoted their life to athletic practice.

The 25 second serve rule should simply be implemented for the receiver as well.
From when the umpire calls the score the reveiver should be ready in 25 seconds.
These rules should then not be applies by the umpire but by automatic line calling device.

Every time a white commentator or analyst says a black athlete is “very well spoken” , I take that as a back handed compliment. It’s annoying how black people are perceived and not expected to convey our thoughts reasonably and fluently.

How much time was the German taking between points? I don't watch tennis anymore, but back when I did and when I played local USTA tennis, we got 20 seconds between points. Was she taking longer than that? If she was within the rules, so be it. It doesn't matter how fast the person serving is playing. There was a guy I use to play and he liked playing fast. Even on change overs, he was fast. I found out that taking my alloted time really made him mad and threw his game off. As long as the players aren't breaking the time rule, it can be a good tactic against someone that likes playing fast.
The alloted time is 25 seconds. Laura was repeatedly violating that rule but only got called twice after Coco complained.
Why not read the story before writing a devil’s advocate dissertation about it? She clearly violated the rules.

i think its evident that the other girl just took things too far, to the point where she put the entire stadium against her. i understand gamesmanship and trying to break your opponent's rythym, concentration, etc... but she was only able to do it to such an egregious degree because the umpire allowed her to get away with it.
