- This week we discuss what makes us wanna quit CZcams. The big question is, has CZcams broken us with disgusting comments?
We thought long and hard about this over the past few days and we thought this needed to be addressed. Recently we have received some really disgusting comments about us and we think these have pushed it to far. We know that we put ourselves out there but there is line and we fell it's been crossed.
Over the past 4 years we have taken the constructive criticism really well and we feel negative comments are welcome as we use that to improve our videos but when its targeted at us about our looks, it really gets us down.
This is not an episode where we are looking for sympathy but we felt it needed to be addressed as its affected us badly.
We will not quit and will be back to travel episodes again next week.

Not sure if you guys remember us but my husband and I met you guys at a Caravan show in Melbourne last year... I am the lady who was shorter than Sue ... lol.
After watching your episode today, I absolutely had to get on and respond in writing to your content and this is something I rarely do.
We were super excited when we ran into you guys at the show since we look forward to watching you each week. You have inspired us and driven us in our own caravanning journey.

You're both down to earth, real people and we adore that about you both.
Jason and I are disgusted to hear about the nasty comments some people will say and it made me sad to see how hurt and bruised you both clearly are (and rightly so too). Those with such nasty comments are usually the ones who are unhappy with themselves, so it makes them feel good to project it towards others... absolutely disgusting and there is no excuse for this kind of behaviour. I believe you are right, this kind of behaviour needs to be addressed!
PLEASE do not quit. You guys are inspirational.

From a fellow full time caravanner (with a French Bulldog!) and retired psychologist, can I just say you hit the nail on the head - 99% of your viewers (99.9% I'd say) are the positive people you should rightly hang your hat on. The .01% who write clearly odd and socially inept responses - it might help to hold a lens up as to why they feel compelled to write what they do (lots of research on this). There's the basics like anonymity (breeds negativity) and immaturity, all the way through to narcissism, misplaced aggression, projection, power and control (which are all about helping themselves up from their own insecurities or negative position in life by bringing others down). At the end of the day it really is about them and not you. Because you two are such a lovely couple, and it's no surprise people really like what you do. Hope to see you on the road one day (we're in SA too at the moment - never say never!). Safe and wonderful travels - screw the oddballs (I can say that now, I'm a retired psych after all).

Have watched every episode since No 1 and have followed a number of different families going around Australia but you guys are the only ones I constantly watch every week because you are just you, you are down to earth and upfront and you deserve everything you have built over the 4 years
We recently completed an 18 month lap of Oz and went to a lot of places because you had showcased them and inspired us

I am so glad that you have called this out. No one is forcing anyone to watch your videos. If people choose to watch them, then sit back and enjoy them as we do. If you don't enjoy watching your content then move on and watch something else, it's quite simple. How anyone can sit there and watch videos and say such distasteful things and be so critical is absolutely beyond my comprehension. Keyboard warriors who are simply jealous of the life you have built for yourselves.
Derek and Sue, please do not change, please jeep doing what you are doing. We love your videos, we love your honesty, we love watching you travelling and the odd mistake that you make. As hard as it may be, please try to ignore the negative comments, hopefully there is a a way you can block those people from watching your videos. Above all, please keep being yourselves, we love your videos each week.

We just wanted to reach out and thank you for opening up about the whole troll situation. It's a tough topic, but one that definitely needs addressing. The impact on mental health is real, and it's something we can't just sweep under the rug.
I've been thinking about what you said, and it really struck a chord. You know, I've always felt like a lot of the trolling comes from jealousy. People see what you're creating, the life you're living, and they just can't handle it. It's like they'd rather tear you down than admit they wish they were doing the same.
Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that your work means a lot to so many of us. And who knows, maybe our paths will cross someday out there on the road. Until then, keep doing your thing, and don't let the trolls get to you.

Guys I don’t comment very often on any channel. All I could say to you is keep doing what your doing and do what you enjoy fishing beach camping bush camping what ever as us that watch and follow will enjoy it and forget the negative people as in this world there is way to many jealous angry negative people out there. Love what youse do it’s light hearted and fun I have a giggle at some mistakes youse make as yes we all would make the same ones. You just keep doing what makes you happy.

You’re 100% correct Sue in that others don’t know what people are going through, and a flippant remark like that can really impact people. I’ve learnt that I can’t control what people say or think, but I can control my response, so take the high road and keep doing your thing, as you are great at it 👍

Coming from SA as you do, I am sure you will understand the (translated and made polite) saying “don’t let the (mental) dwarves get you down”.
As you say you are out in public and unfortunately there are way too many sad, jealous, mean, vindictive, sociopathic and pathetic people out there who will want to try to break you down to their miserable level, so please try not to give them anymore of the attention they so crave it only feeds them.
While it’s easy for us to say report and delete offensive comments, it must be very trying to have to deal with on the regular.
Please just know the vast majority of us just wish you only good things and want you to keep on being your awesome selves and are very appreciative of all your efforts.
Good on you for calling this disgusting behaviour out. For every 1 x 'hater' out there, there has to be at least 100 times more followers and supporters behind you 🙂

Hi Derek and Sue, we recently found and started watching your channel and since has become one of our favourite shows. I am not a fan of fishing but his doesn't mean that we wont watch the segment. We watch your channel because we enjoy the whole content that you both create as a package. This includes your destinations and activities that you decide to share. We come along for the ride and are able to share your experiences, which I believe is a huge privilege! So thankyou. These people, persons or whatever who post these unwarranted personal attacks are cowards as they hide behind there keyboards and wouldn't dare to personally attack you when confronted in person. Unfortunately they do exist and take some sort satisfaction to lift there miserable existence. I personally hate someone who takes pleasure and gratification at someone's expense. unfortunately when you are on social media, it brings shit people to the surface. I feel they comment for the thrills it gives them to be rebels. I also feel they attack as they have insecurities of their own. As the saying goes haters are gonna hate 😒

Myself and my wife have been following you for the four years, my wife passed 2 weeks ago after a long illness but every midweek when you made those videos and every weekend she so looked forward to your videos and as larger people you both inspired us to get into our swimmers and into the water when we could get away for trips, i continue and will continue to watch your content as long as you put it out there. As you say the vast majority of comments are positive but you are always going to get that sort of crap from some people, don't let them get to you , keep up the good work and hopefully i will see you on the road sometime in the future. Keyboard warriors and haters are the bottom barrel of the earth; not only are they throwing dirt, but they do so in an anonymous manner without repercussions. These people never say it to people's faces because they would soon learn how 'impactful' their feedback is.
You need to do what is good for you, and it is great that you talk about these things and expose the horrible behaviour. Sadly, some people are so horrible, but it is a reflection of them and not yourself. It would be sad to see you finish up because you inspire so many people, but understandable. Don't feel pressured and do what you love and for the reason that you got into it. You are great mental health advocates, and I am glad you are talking about this, even if you shouldn't have to.

When my wife and I came across your channel a couple of years ago we were so pleased to find a couple the same age as us just out there living their best life and sharing it with the world.
No glamour shots and bikinis, just genuine people doing what the rest of the world aspire’s to do.
There’s always going to be people putting you down to make themselves feel better about the fact they’re living a life that hasn’t turned out the way they really wanted.
You can’t help those people mate, but you’re helping many others, to plan and inspire and seek out a better life.
I hear you on the mental health thing Derek, it’s tough when you’re genuinely doing what you do for the love of it.

I know that i have been judgemental in my life and my want for you (and anyone else who has been made to feel judged by others) is that you understand that those comments are not really about you. It's about that person and what they are projecting onto you. Believe that you are imperfectly human (just like everyone else). Continue to strive to be the best versions of you and live your best life and keep kranking out the content 😁
Keep doing exactly what your doing, yes it’s hard to ignore those negative comments but unfortunately trolls are a part of life, just remember while your out there living your best life making amazing memories they are hiding behind a keyboard putting down other you tubers I suspect.

I'm 65 yo and have been subscribing/following you for a while. My beautiful mother always told me, drummed into me, drilled me to:
1. never comment on the way someone eats or drinks
2. never comment on the way that someone looks or their appearance (including choice of clothes)
3. never comment on someone's bad dentition (missing teeth) because they might be, typically, a Collingwood supporter
4. never comment on someone incorrectly leaving their shopping trolley in the carpark, they might be, a humourless Collingwood supporter
5. always carry a black beanie and black wrap-around sunglasses when in Collingwood country, even caring to wear them at night, if necessary
6. never under-estimate a Collingwood supporter, anywhere, anytime
7. understand that 'bad' never lasts forever
8. pejorative comments are never about you, it's about them
9. be happy with yourself
10. need another numbered point :)

I havent previously subscribed to your channel even though watch it regularly, but thought I needed to support you guys in what you do. I have travelled most of this country & i find that its people like you and the many others that share their journey with us is so valuable when planning our trips, places we probably would have missed if not for people like you. Yes the content might not always interest us but its pretty simple dont watch it or comment on it. looking at your recent comments you do have a lot of support so keep up the good work, dont let the odd fool spoil what you enjoy doing.
