Nice. How much was the machine?
Thanks man. Unfortunately we didn't buy a home til mid-2021, so I couldn't buy a machine until they got much rarer, more in demand, and way more expensive. I paid around $5-6k, this was towards the end of 2021. It was a J-cab privately owned by a single owner since around 2000 and lived in his parent's climate controlled basement pretty much unused for the majority of the time. It came Stepmania-ready, though I was of course more interested in the 573 unit (came completely unmodified, legit 3rd mix cartridge and discs installed, lol). Other than the subwoofer neons not working it was in about as perfect condition you could hope for in terms of a now-vintage dancing arcade system... Even before I worked on it at all, it was waaaay better than any machine I'd EVER played on back in the day, lol!
Crazy to think tho if I had the means to store a machine back in 2015, I remember seeing decent machines listed for $2k, sometimes a fixer upper project for just a few hundred! But meh, it was still worth it for me. Some people spend $5-$10k on cardio equipment, and I just look at it like having [to me] the ultimate cardio system that I actually get use out of instead of letting it gather dust 😝
And to be totally honest, I wouldn't be getting [regular, meaningful] cardio otherwise, and I'm just at an age and time where I really wanna take care of my cardiovascular health and be here for my kids for as long as the Lord plans to keep me on this earth 🙂. Speaking of kids, seeing as how I'm primary caretaker for both kids (one is less than 1 year old), I wouldn't even be able to play DDR at all unless it were in my home 😁. @@drookormy dude, it was a 3 paragraph comment with a detailed account of how he got and used the machine which had a single sentence thanking his god and a bible verse referenced at the end. It ain't that big a deal
On the flip side imagine thinking that ANY of the hard work we put into life means ANYTHING when everything is eventually gonna burn away in the end anyway. Apart from God it's all meaningless anyway.
Besides, that's definitely not what I said anyway and I'm quite proud of what I've achieved. 15 years ago I was running the streets of Camden shooting dope and robbing anyone and everyone to get what I wanted. By the time I left rehab I was over $100k in debt and no, saying a foxhole prayer to Jesus didn't make it miraculously go away. I can also assure you that I did NOT do everything myself and had I followed my own ways and supposed morals (even after rehab and even as a sober law abiding person), I still wouldn't be where I am today.
I'd rather do what is pleasing to God than to be a slave to sin. If this is what "being kept in control" is, count me in (even though I know I'm way more free and in control when I give that control over to God by living my life in a way that's pleasing to Him). Because I sure as heck don't like the direction Godless societies go in nor do I like the person I used to be apart from God. I wouldn't trust my own kids around the me that was me 15 years ago. Whatever bitter reason you have to go around to a channel with a small handful of subscribers and even less so in the way of views, I'm sorry you feel this way and I pray that one day, sooner than later, God opens your heart and mind. No hate my brother, I'm sure at one point I was way worse. Meanwhile, hope you enjoy my goofy nerdy DDR videos.

Btw thanks. I've never actually been "shredded" in my life (probably at the lowest like 15-20% body fat but that's a total guess - before all my injuries, shortly after leaving rehab and being a total gym / fitness / health nut - and age was still very much on my side lol). But counterintuitively, thanks to having 2 kids now, I feel like I've lost considerable weight in the last year mostly thanks to barely even having time to feed myself during the day 😂😭... but it's funny because a lot of people have been saying lately "you look great! Have you lost weight?", but deep inside I feel like my mind is frying and I've aged like 10 years in the last 2 🤣
Honestly dude, it's the DDR and weights (and prayer!) that have been keeping me in check!! 😎🤟

Yeah it's so sad walking into an arcade these days and seeing all these new, shiny [pointless, most redemption] flashy games no one is playing, whereas 15-20 years ago you'd be almost guaranteed to see a DDR / PIU machine and a crowd of people happily stomping the day away...
You'd actually be in more luck finding these games at Dave and Busters, R1 or such. Speaking of which, what do you think about the newer mixes of DDR?
@@pentaxel3905 I actually still haven't played any of the newer mixes! I was away at rehab from 2010 - 2013 and then spent the next several years focused on rebuilding my life. I did play a little SN2 probably around 2015 when an old arcade down the street from my gym at the time had it but it only lasted a few months before it just stopped working (sat there unable to boot and then one day was gone 😢). So basically the last mix I really played was SN1. The closest DnB's and R1's are hours away and ironically they opened one really close to where I used to live right after we moved lol. Not that it would have mattered because by that point we had a baby and I wouldn't have had time anyway 🙂
