  • BC Rail cowls are one of my personal favorite engines currently on the CN roster next to the wide cabs. This video shows the BC Rail dash8-40CMu's I've caught over the past six months, as well as other CN trains seen on the same days. hope you enjoy the video!

BCRAIL has always been my favorite, along with CP, I even had the opportunity of seeing two Cowel units in operation.
    Enjoyed the video!

Nice video! As a point of clarification, Q193 does not haul autoracks to Prince Rupert. They must drop those somewhere east of Prince George. The consist is all stacks between PG and Rupert.

I really love how you, narrate your videos, about what Train is which! And hey, CN used to have SD50F Units on their Roster, which were the 5400's, but they retired years ago! They also had SD60F Units on the roster, which were the 5500's, but they retired just a few years ago. So now I guess the C40-8M Units are left, and I'm happy that they're still in service, to this current day!

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoy the videos. When I started railfanning a few years ago, I just missed the Sd50/60f's, but always wanted to see one. As for the C40-8M's, it has been announced that they are all being put into storage, and are slowly being phased out. I'm sad to see them go, but in memory of them, I will release a video on them in the future.

I had the pleasure of seeing 4610 back in 2017 on Thanksgiving night. It was on the point of NS stack train but it was in the middle of the night so I had to stick with a cell phone video. Still got it nonetheless, plus it had an amazing horn on it.
The only BCOL dash 8s I managed to photograph was 4617 on Christmas day 2016 and another one that I can't remember the number of at the moment at a place called "Coffeys Cliff" in Chattanooga TN.
I've seen a couple of the Dash 9s....but the first one was blocked by another train and the other I had a perfect shot of...and my camera messed up and didn't take the shot.
No luck on the C44-9WL's but that's to be expected since there are only four of them.
    Great video!

Awesome! Really cool to hear them working as foreign power on NS. The dash 8-40cm's are all starting to be retured off CN now, so they're getting pretty scarce up here. Glad you got to see a few, they are great units! I hope you get a shot of a dash 9 some day, I don't think CN plans to get rid of them any time soon.

@@ravenhawk6910 yeah that seems to be what's happening. CN 2400, 2414, and 2426 have already been sent to K&K recycling in Pickering, Ontario. I am in the process of making a video about the CN cowls last years on CN for this channel. Not sure when it will be released though.

Amazing video!! A couple things first the top ditch light are the regular ditch lights and the bottom ones are the rock lights. Second the bcrail unit has 4400 HP because it’s a c40-8mu. The U designation mean upgraded. Between 1995 and 1999 bcrail upgraded there cowls to -9 specs giving then 4400HP and -9 emission standards. Those are just me being nit picky. Don’t take them personally.

Thanks! Those facts actually help me a lot! I am in the process of making a video documenting the final years of the cowls on CN, and this info may come in handy for the BC Rail section.
