That's amazing work, and that it was done so quickly too. Impressive.

It has been confirmed that Athearn will be making these. They will be available for pre-order in about a month or two. Alot more is coming.

Just found your channel and loving it. Great mix of dialogue and footage. Awesome that you’re a rail fan, modeller and videographer/editor.

This thing is awesome. There is 1 big issue I see tho, the truck on your model of 8781 are the as delivered steerable trucks. By the time 8781 got its Hapag-llyod paint it had been converted to regular high adhesion trucks. A few other things you should do is put a graham white E bell on the conductors side in place of the steel bell that’s there, and program the loco to have a Graham white E bell.

Thanks! I am aware of the few inaccuracies of the model, and believe me it took every bit of self control not to correct them lol - the reason it was done this way was so it matched the trophies we made for Canadian Pacific. We were told not to make any major changes exept to remove the ladder, so that's what we did. The powered units purpose was to show the exact process of repainting the CP display models. Maybe one day I'll go back and fix the trucks and bell, because the fact they're not quite accurate does annoy me a little lol.

Amazing video. I note the painter uses a Paasche H airbrush. These have been around since the 1940s. A tried and true design.

Good eye! Yes we both swear by them. From experience, the H brush is easier to control than double action brushes in my opinion.

This is really cool stuff, I have a feeling that both 8757 and 8781 may eventually be released by Athearn as plastic mass produced models, with the correct steerable and hiad trucks respectively

Nicely done! Though the 8781 has the Hi-Ad trucks instead of the steerable trucks

Rob was using the head magnifier by General Tools. It has three levels of magnification and works great for detail painting.
