Great Stuff dude!. Enjoyable to watch someone who actually plays with an intent on Deity. There are far too few efficient Civ6 players on CZcams. You remind me of "Moriarte" who had fantastic civ5 videos on YT.

Watched the entire series. Incredible play, the best I've seen. I prefer domination, however play based on the objectively best given circumstances would be greatly appreciated. Probably would require a random civ start. Hard to see with a Mongolia how domination would not always be objectively best.

I played along to your video with the save file and got destroyed by France on turn 31 haha! She declared a surprise war on me a turn or two after getting the settler out. I'm going to reset and see if I can get a better outcome

I always thought that settling on a bonus resource removed it. I guess not, TIL!
It's a tricky one, "terrain features" are removed but bonus resources are not. So if you settle on a 'green' 2F2P hill with woods - the woods will be removed and the capital will have 2F1P. But if you settle 'yellow' 1F2P hills capital will have 2F2P. If you settle on 4F1P floodplains with wheat, the floodplains will be removed, so the capital will have 2F1P. Similar thing happens to settling on sugar.
If I had to describe your game play I would compare you to chess player Bobby Fischer. Seems like you are always thinking about 20 moves ahead. Love the insight you give to your planning. Just an all around great video.....Thanks!
I'm trying to learn this game so I can compete with a friend that I play with, in similar settings, just not in deity. He is quite the powergamer. We dont atk each other though. Got any hints about a good civ/victory condition for me to in such a match? I will try to learn from this gameplay.

Its civ6, not overwatch, quality is just fine. And dont worry about "what could possibly go wrong" personality to add flavor to a playthrough, im much more interested in your train of thought and the efficiency of play. So keep at it, just like you have been, and i'll eagerly await your next upload.

Is anyone able to explain why France didn't declare war when those units were around his cities those two times? I'd have been panicking and building archers.
I am getting a different starting location when entering this seed; can you point me to the savegame on CivFanatics? I'm not seeing where you posted it.... and we play Civ for the strategy, not the graphics. Thanks!
Link updated. Do you have the DLC? If not, try playing with the selection of civs to get the right location.

Really good to watch, but again, I tried about 5 maps with this strat and usually I'm ending up sorrounded by 5 barbarian units in 15th turn :( How come no barbarians are attacking you. And how come France didn't attack you... ?
France didn't attack because he cleared the barbarian camp and that triggered Frances civilized hidden agenda, which bumped up their relations enough to prevent the attack.
so lucky there you weren't attacked by france. if i was the one playing that, i will surely be attacked by then. always happens to me when a civ is just a backyard away from me.
I was wondering about that, if there were mods or something to prevent the AI from attacking.
Why do you have 40% eureka's while when I play I have 50%? Is it due to lack of DLCs?

Costs go up over time for building new districts but are locked in when you start and pause construction.

I just don't get why you're not overrun by barbs and at least 1 declaration of war in first 20 rounds. I seem to be quite unlucky in deity games. (I destroy everything lower)

One thing I have noticed with the guys who post these Deity games is that they rely on early game luck. Some of them outright admit and even show themselves saving and restarting. To me that’s not a real Deity run. I have loaded a saved game before on Deity just because but now it’s only in a rare case if missclicked the mouse by accident and the result was catastrophic.
Back to this video, there is NO good reason why France didn’t just take both of your cities there and end you. 9 times out of 10 Deity would have crushed any of us in that scenario. I can consistently win Deity domination victory after a LONG, painstaking game by surviving the initial AI runs and then taking over with loyalty and gradually gaining cities late game.
The alternative for shorter game domination victory is just going balls to the wall crazy along with some early luck. Not trying to insult you or anybody else I am just saying I am an expert at this game and I know what I am talking about. I have literally 5 thousand hours of CIV under my belt. I have learned a few things from the CZcams guys like chopping out, settling on top of a resource, AI tendencies and so forth. But consistently, the old saying by Mike Tyson I think applies here: Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the face.
Good videos though and I will finish watching this series.
I think it's because the AI was a bit less aggressive before the summer patch. Now you can expect an early enemy rush in >50% of your games (sometimes it feels like 100%). Having to build/buy/chop out a number of warriors/archers for defense slows things down a lot when you are trying to get to horsemen ASAP. Magnus nerf (to 50% instead of 100%) also slows things down a bit. However, people are still coming in with crazy Deity domination times (turn 100ish), just not ridiculous like before with times below 80 turns. In this particular series the start is really good resulting in turn 50ish Horseback Riding, which is tough to do on most maps now. But still worth watching the series again to try to keep improving my play.
I agree with you. I was a Deity player of Civ 5 and could win nearly 100 % SV on standard deity pace there. Unlike Civ 6 RF deity victory was a given for any Civ 5 deity SV players. Pre RF Civ 6 too had near certain domination deity victory. However in RF a lot has changed and without save scumming winning deity on Civ 6 RF is really difficult.
I kinda agree with you, even if I love this dude. I tried exactly the same with what he did 3 times this morning and in each case the closest enemy ended up with 8 warriors on my city on turn 20.
He just goes for 2 scouts at start, finds 5 city states, gets a relic, close wonder and 3 other wonders in first 15 turns and then leaves everything unguarded for 40 turns and scouts the other end of the world with his only warrior.
This is quite weird and suspicious in so many ways. Compared to my own deity games (I play only deity for almost a year now and probably won some hundreds of them) this feels more like prince difficulty. I hope he aint using any mods or anything to lower enemy aggression.
