Let me get this straight: you build crazy robots, live in a boat and played in Chinese sitcom? Are you sure you're not some cartoon character?
and are Swedish but sound almost perfectly American?
Adam Zugone That’s not just her 😂 Us Swedes love being confusing like that
Douglas P Actually "Swedish English" is my favourite accent. Very subtle and easy to understand.
@@douglasp2469 "Us Swedes love being confusing like that", ... yes, there must be a reason for them livin' in the US ...
Darwin in the amazing world of Gumball!?🤔🤔🤔
This whole video I was like "why is this Minnesotan living on a houseboat in Sweden?!" I knew that a lot of Europeans (and Nords in particular) were very, very good at speaking English, but I had no idea of the extent with the accent and everything. You sound more American than quite a few Americans I've met, and I'm a Virginian.
As someone from Minnesota I had the same thought.
toastyghost I was thinking da same ting mate. Her English is a fair bit proper bubba. Is cool she lives on the crick like she does. In most her videos she’s a cuttin a caper. I’m from Virginia as well , grew up in guinea. A town full of Swedish immigrants. The accent is thick . I have since lost it since I move away.
Yeah I knew she was Swedish but was thinking her English sounded somewhere around a Northern Michigan - Minnesota y accent
@@TheCsel That would track, since Minnesota is like 30% of Scandinavian origin.
Y'all are making too much of a deal of this, her English pretty much on par with most Swedes her age.
TheCsel I feel like she sounds even more northern than most Minnesotans I know, as a Minnesotan myself
I have no idea who you are or why youtube wanted me to watch this video but i really like your boat. :)
Me and you are in the same one
I'm with you guys
Same!
same
same xD
what ever floats your boat
No.
Literally
Seriously, keep floating, I want more videos.
"what ever floats your boat" ...sevage?
😂😂💀💀
Great video! Here's my attempt at Swedish to nautical term translation.
1:02 Styrhytt = Wheelhouse/Bridge
1:26 Kitchen -> Galley
1:44 Armeringsjärn = Re-bar
1:53 Floor -> Deck
2:16 Downstairs -> Below deck
2:19 Grind = Gate
2:29 Living room = Cuddy/Cabin
2:42 Bed -> Bunk
3:30 Lastrum = Cargo hold
4:13 Wash -> Swab
I thought "lastrum" was just "last room" haha
If you think about it Simone is basically like Han Solo, cause she has a ship and she's awesome, and that's enough reasons
+Gillio And we're all like "I LOVE YOU" and Simone just "I know"
+Gillio she needs a very hairy person that bashes the engine when it stops working...
+Gillio I was thinking more like Kaylee if Kaylee was the captain, because engineering.
but where do you make your robots?
Well, for that purpose exists the roof, it's a little windy but it does the job just fine, also you have a really good view of the landscape
I think it's in the base.... all her videos are taken there
I have a friend who lived on a houseboat for years and never learned to swim...
I love that it's was a two story set up and got really excited when you said "engine room" and panned to the door!
I have a canoe but it's just not the same
+Useless Duck Company get a two storey canoe - it'll change your life for the better
yes
"Fuck you... Go wash that deck."
Best way to end a video.
+LampDoesVideogame I'm getting that made into a bumper sticker!
You're so amazing! I'm so happy I found you on Tested! You really inspire me to build, travel, learn new languages. Thank you! 💜
This houseboat is more complete than some apartments.
I'm not sure what I was expecting, but that was great!
The house boat seems to be seriously missing some robotic companions though...
+Jack Kelt Took a break to work on some smaller fun projects. Got a deadline on May 1st to demonstrate it at the GTA Expo in Toronto though so I should get back at it...
I was expecting a laser Canon room and robot S&M cabin.
+the Hacksmith Hey, cool to see you here. I came to Simone from an NPR article and to you from Sufficiently Advanced on the same day. :D
Big fan of the spoon-lamp, that is cool as hell.
You rocked that tour! Awesome boat, so much better than a cold yacht, is a warm cozy home that happens to float.
Simone steals my heart everytime I see her
one thing I missed is a shot at the exterior. I kinda wonder how this all looks like from the outside. Like a regular boatlike boat? or more like a boat turned into a house? or even like a regular apartment somehow crammed on a boat?
If I weren't seeing this with my own two eyes, I'd be convinced you were a fictional character.
"It's made with like aa, armeringsjärn that I had left over" :)
What does it look like from the outside?
The boat, not your vagina.
you're a fucking idiot.
rusty and big her boat not vagina lolz
BigDog It was a joke, referencing something Simone said in her video. Please lighten up.
William Hayden true that, wound up way too tight.
Was the captain hat included when you purchased the boat?
+scyther1 I fucking well hope so
+scyther1 i remember she said on one video that she has a skipper's license. soo. ya.
I have a laptop from 2009 , internet connection that I steal from my neighbor , a room behind the service entrance of the building , a bike my brother gave me , a 7$/h job at a wiring company re-welding old wires and 120$ in my bank account . Life is good ! Even bums have a place on the internet : )
After wanting to live on one for 20+ years-I'm going to buy one hopefully within 18 months. THANK YOU for this tour!!!
That is too cool!!!! Awesome Capt. Simone!!!!!
You build machines and live on a boat. Is there anything you do that's not cool?
+Justin Hall yep. The way she treats her sewage system in totally uncool.
Btw it's not even my opinion. Her sewage system developed intelligence, captured me and made me post that.
SIMONE, FIX THAT SHIT!
sweage system? the fuck?
AND HER MOM IS A GHOST BUSTER!!! (Kinda)
Your level of awesome is increasing exponentially.
I like the spoon lamp, GENIUS!
Loved that you had fun with this video.. Would have liked to see the whole outside of the boat to get a scale of what it really looks like.
Jesus Christ that's comfy, also how do you get clean water? To bath and whatever.
^
+Daruny Beoulve It's held in the water tanks, you fill up at special stations.
+Tripplehelix Would rain water collecting be enough I wonder?
Tripplehelix Oh that's interesting, something new I learnt today.
+Daruny Beoulve There'd be electrical and fresh water hookups where she's moored.
When was the last time you took the boat out for a spin? Or when was the last time you started the engines? Also does it have a generator on board so when you lose shore power you can still power everything?
+Barnacules Nerdgasm didnt expect you here
i will
Coolest house tour of any house i have ever seen ever!
Your awesome! i binged watch all your videos today, cool to see you go through your journey
You're cool as fuck.
You are quickly becoming one of my very favourite people. Thanks for being so awesome!
I love it. My aunt used to live on a houseboat and honestly I think it’s a more energy efficient way to live and much cooler too!
YOU’RE SO ADORABLE WHEN YOU THROW RANDOM SWEDISH WORDS IN WITH YOUR ENGLISH!!! IT’S ABSOLUTELY THE CUTESS THING I’VE EVER HEARD!!!!!!
When people's lives are literally orders of magnitude more interesting than yours and they act like it's no big deal ;_;
She lives on a boat and builds crappy robots, calm down.
+Funny Guy True, but it IS too late to get famous as a result.
Nevertheless, I recommend having an interesting life. Missing out on fame is probably a good thing, so try to forget about all that part. Fame is stressful.
Her life is pretty interesting, she gets to hang out and work with Adam Savage.
How is it too late to have an interesting life AND to get famous at the same time? The only time it''s too late for any of them (or both) is when you're on your deathbed and only got like 1 minute left of your life.
But actually, not even then is it too late :)
I am your great great great great great GRANDMA Are you speaking from experience gramma?
Hydraulic: yes. Rudder: yes. Stuff your shelves are made of: "rebar" (short for "re-enforcing bar") Railing: yes. Thing you made the railing out of: "fence", maybe? And it's "swab" the deck. :)
I just realised you missed the opportunity to refer to the bathroom as the 'poop deck', and am disappointed.
(yes, 'poop deck' is a real naval architectural term in English!)
Just don't get caught pooping on the poop deck of a boat you don't own.
Visiting the Head could also have been used.
Yeah, but if I'm correct, the Poop Deck has nothing to do with pooping. :) I actually have no idea why it's called the Poop Deck, but it was the aft-deck where the rudder control was, and the "head" was up by the decorative head on the prow, so that any residual odors would get blown forward off the boat by the prevailing winds.
@@c182SkylaneRG The etymology is the latin word for stern.
@@ambershee So "Pooping" is literally just "Back-Ending"?
Wow, I really dig your boat!! Seems comfortable and a great way to live.
“Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.”
― Kenneth Grahame, The Wind in the Willows
The coziness is astonishing...
Your boat is just like I imagined it.
Simone, you are a gem !
And I just checked your videos with Physics Girl which are awesome ! Keep it up !
That rocks! best thing I've seen in a long time. thanks for posting
womancave, you made me laugh with that one. my mind was not even in the gutter til you made the joke.
I have no idea who you are, so I had no idea you were Swedish until you said it, your English is fantastic, no need to apologize at all for it.
thank you for showing us your lovely boathouse, Captain Stripper.
Damn, you are so down to earth, I like that in people.
Keep on keeping on, love you to bits, Simone rocks OK!
this is like a studio apartment, and gotta say the best one i've ever seen.
Instead of a woman cave, call it a lady lounge. Sounds classy.
Will Ver Schneider Yeah, it really does sound classy
SOM JAG HAR VÄNTAT PÅ DENNA VIDEO, OCH DET VAR ALLT JAG FÖRVÄNTADE MIG OCH MER, solid 5/7
+Simone Giertz VAR BOR CHAD?
+Republiken Yeah.... where's Chad?
+Simone Giertz these are quite many three digit words.. O.o
+Helga Leech ive also waited for this video, and i don't even speak swedish
+Helga Leech que onda mis carnales no les entindo nada XD
Those wood counters are absolutely beautiful. I need that in my house. The boat is sweet too, real jealous
That spoon lamp is absolutely brilliant!
i came for the wacky machines. i stayed for the awesome aloof sense of humor. cant wait till you get a sitcom...
these early videos are still the best on youtube
Loved the plastic spoon light fixture.
The bedroom looks amazing!!
disapointin are you kidding me? it was awesome! greetings from norway!
Wow, I couldn't even tell that English wasn't your first language until you mentioned it. And English is my first language!
I wish I had a 10th of imagination, enthusiasm & love for life that you have. Keep it up.
Awesome place to live ... brilliantly presented !
The shelf you made by yourself in the kitchen is made from what we call in American English reinforcement bar, or rebar for short.
oh no I am watching simone's videos again
pls tell me the amount of guilt you're feeling write now
mayur kulkarni what's wrong with that?
ur profile pic is creeping me out
best youtuber ive seen, you appear authentic and fresh.
This is freaking awesome! I'd love to live in a boat now thanks.
It's as if one of Zooey Deschanel's characters was real.
you're are the coolest girl I've never met.
You are awesome! I loved the video! And I watched it because me and my fiancé are looking forward to move to Florida soon and get a houseboat ourselves! Nice boat btw, congrats! 😀👏👏👏😊
You are Awesome! I would totaly travel on your boat.
You reveal yourself to be cooler and cooler with each video!
Hahaha! Woman's cave... Never thought about that! Looks cozy and it's got its charm. Intrigued to see how it looks outside!
Damian De I agree. We don't even know if it's a boat or just a standard sweedish apartment with a steering wheel and an engine room (sweedish apartments have that right?). We have to see how she goes in the seas Captain!
Woman's den might fit better. Let the us men keep our caves :p
You are outrageously adorable Simone! Love the boat
Wow I've never seen the inside of one of these. It looks like a ton of fun!
God dammit youtube, i watched the video.... you happy now???
This made me laugh. When that video just won't stop showing up in suggested.
No now you get MOAR hahaha
Chr1z2 there's literally a button you can press that says not interested
Average citizen ur image is fucking hilarious lol
Are you ever traveling with your house? (damn thats sounds so cool)
+darkroronoa
I also want to know, do you go traveling with you house?
+darkroronoa i dont think so. or did you see any baloons in her storage? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Your English is flawless--also very creative living solutions--that plastic spoon lamp is really cool
I like your spoon lamp, it's really creative.
This video makes me want to go buy a boat to live on. It's so cute! And how many home tours also include "here's the engine" which is cool. Are you an actual captain with like a boat license and stuff? Do you drive your house around? You said tugboat; can you use your house as a tug and make money pulling around your neighbors?
But then I see the poop video and I realize I don't want to live on a boat after all.
In America at least, a driver's license is sufficient to captain your own boat. You only need a special license if you want to run charter cruises with paying passengers, or operate as a tug with paying customers
in Europe you need a licence to drive a motor boad with an engine bigger than 15hp, or a sail Boat with a sail bigger than 12m² and you can drive all boats sizes but you can't take more than 12 persons with you, and you can't pass a 3 Nautical miles from the coast. and than you have a secont degree licence that allowes you to pass till 12 Nautical miles but its exam is damn complicated ... and that an other degree or level till 30 N.miles and the next and last one is for all open seas all over the world to cross oceans. and you can use it for commercial boats till 25meters long i think and not more that 12 persons. and once you have the first grade licence you can call yourself a skipper or captain if you like it. but to call your self a captain you must have a boat. or they will laugh on you :) because a captain without a boat is not a captain :)
all those categories are available for seas and for rivers you need an other licence , but you are limited to drive boats under 15meters long on rivers.
Doesn't apply to all of Europe. Different countries have very different rules.
SnipinCatz share your knowlege please. i said what i know in my comment. i am from Germany. and many EU countrys many laws that are the same. say where are you from and what you mean with your comment
Zeeadster TV The rules are different everywhere. For example, in Norway it's 25hp or up to 8 meters without a license. Or if you were born before these rules were put into place you don't have to take it up to 15 meters and unlimited hp.
There are plenty of licenses for different sized vessels after that.
There's the 15 meter one, for which you need to be 15 years old and take a quick 50 question test. Unlimited hp and unlimited number of people.
Then there's one for craft larger than 15 meters, but shorter than 24 meters for which you need to be 18 and do an online course. You need to be of well health and bring a note from the doctor to prove it. You also need to have had a ship before, served on a ship for a year or take another test.
That's it for Norway.
And Sweden didn't, and might still not have mandatory boating licenses for pleasure craft. In any case, they didn't have mandatory boating licenses few years ago. They've been proposing it for decades so it might have passed but I'm Norwegian and don't pay that much attention to Sweden's boating licenses.
The fact that just Sweden and Norway are so varied on the subject of boating licenses should tell you that this is not something that is Europe or even EU wide.
Your Swedish? You sound like an american when you speak English..... Incredible!!!!
This is a great boat. I love it.
i love whatever word it was you used for rebar . (the metal you made the shelf from) your english is amazing!
HOODRALIC STEERING CHANNEL
Isn't that guy finnish? Or Danish?
+TheWanderingChemist Finnish.
He's Finnish
I'm finnish too
DomDaBomb I'm finnished.
Wow I can hear a twang of a swedish accent in these early videos of yours
I love your houseboat! I know you sold it, and I wish I could've bought it & moved it to Newport (Oregon). I totally would live on that. It's like a tiny house rv boat style thinger & it's amazing!
Seriously, please keep making more videos...we need them! MOAR MOAR MOAR! haha... I wish I could live on a "Boat" again...
If IKEA was a person.
+greenghost2008 Like: Ingvar Kamprad, Elmtaryd ,Agunnaryd ..
What she didn't show us was the big outdoor pool... ;-)
You have a good amount of space for a boat. I was surprised to see your kitchen table with chairs - so much open space!
Thank god, I've been wanting this video for so long. Thank you for taking my request. I know I've been PMing you for like a week now. Thank you XOXO
Wait, where do you build your robots?
+SEeE in the shower, obviously.
Holy crap, you are like the coolest person :O :O
vänta är du svenne... mindblown! Bara sett två-tre videos med dig efter jag såg dig på Tested. Du är underbar och sjukt intressant.
LOVE her sense of humor and creativity...Your english is sweet and very west coast....Stick with it kiddo, us Captains stick together...
Is Swedish your first language? Because I can't really tell by how clearly you speak in English.
Yes
She's Swedish, so...yes.
+Keyser Soze She's clearly adopted an american accent for her english, though, Most swedes don't speak english like that.
+Angus Helldin -- Kinda sounds Canadian, to me... though I guess US accents are fairly diverse, too.
+Ostsol As a Canadian, I'd place her around Iowa for accent.
I dunno why this was on my list of recommendations but it was kinda nice.
Nice house boat. Is it two story on the outside?
I am so envious! I want one!
your boat is so wide ! Its lovely!
Rudderthing, yes, much rudderness..
Lastrum=cargohold
Your houseboat kinda rrocks btw :)
It rocked? To me it seemed perfectly still. ;-)
That was so dry I got dehydrated :p
But I walked straight into that one so..
Plus one for you ;)
i think she meant the last room of the boat house
Nope, she said lastrum, swedish for cargohold. Pretty sure at least lol 👍
That lastrum though
Your boat is so unique and cool.
creative in a creative way
