It’s very unfortunate that those who disagree with what Major Coleman said seem to belittle or degrade him rather than submit counterpoints. It does not make someone less intelligent for submitting a different viewpoint from you, if your viewpoint is as superior as you claim, it should be nearly effortless to convince them to your “truth”. It doesn’t cost anything from us to be kind to one another and we need it most when we disagree.

He thinks cats and dogs should be able to breed if evolution was true (it would falsify evolution). He thinks abiogenesis is part of the theory of evolution. He basically understands nothing, and is just arguing against a strawman. Incompetence or malice is of course hard to judge. Probably he is more willfully ignorant.
I am not saying he has to accept evolution for me to respect his opinion on it. But he has to understand it. He does not. And we are not talking "he got a few details wrong". No, we are in the 2+2=5 level of ignorance here.

    • @remnant8898

@@lmoelleb abiogenesis has historically been part of the theory of evolution.
Evolutionary theory is an attempt to explain the origin of species through natural means without supernatural Creation. Logically, unless you concede the existence of God and subscribe to theistic evolution in order to explain the origin of life (a position that has been shown to be unsustainable), abiogenesis must have originally occurred in order to commence the process of Darwinian evolution. Abiogenesis is required by evolution as the starting point.
The growing trend among evolutionists today to attempt to sidestep the problem of abiogenesis by contending that evolution has nothing to do with the origin of life, but rather is a theory which starts with life already in existence and explains the origin of all species from that original life form is either intellectually dishonest, agenda driven or just brainwashed indoctrination.

I am not a pastor, and i collect nothing, but I will try to share honoring tithes and offerings. I give tithes and offerings because these are needed for the church( not the building but the body) to function and work on reaching everyone with the gospel. If you are a true ambassador of the Kingdom of God, you will be looking at where to give tithes and offerings, because your business is to promote God's kingdom.
Now when you don't tithe, this is not sin, but those who tithe without are making a covenant with God since God is a God of covenant. So even though not tithing is not a sin, those who tithe get the benefit those who don't will not get. it is like going to the gym improves your health while those who don't go don't have the benefit of those who go. Of course, any pastor or man of God forcing you to tithe is wrong. but please let us understand well what tithing and offerings are before speaking against them in general.
Tithing and offering are spiritual exercises of faith. and God sees all those who do it and the reason in their hearts and reward everyone according to their motives

I'm a game dev. I can make a simple universe in a weekend. I can program the "natural processes" like erosion for example. I don't even need to be present once I execute. With enough time, knowledge and power I could sim our universe to the atom. I would be the watch maker. My simulated humans could have free will to choose. I can give them attributes before they are conceived that I would be completely aware of. I could make my universe scale to full in 6 in game days with the appearance of thousands. None of this would be random unguided processes. Even if it appeared so to my sims. The best part? Trying to make them understand my world and their place would be quite challenging. I would be beyond their understanding.
I'm a highschool dropout. If I can do this....
Imagine what's out there beyond what people claim to know. How many true things are beyond the reach of your senses? Magnetism, electricity, DNA, radiation are all discoveries, excavated from reality. None are scientific inventions. We don't even know what gravity is or how it works.
The fool says there is no God, sitting in their little corner of infinity.
    Random natural unguided processes?
Pure fantasy. It's a joke. The evidence is blinding if you have the courage to actually consider it.
( edit: My responses won't show. My fundamental claim is that it is feasible the universe is created. Multiple overlapping contingent systems are likely not accidental. How many perfect dice rolls (back to back) are you willing to believe are "strange coincidences". What sum = proof? )

Why is it that you feel the need to minimize others in order to make a point? Also, how is a lawyer debating an opposite position ironic? In my opinion, he seems to be the perfect person for the job. He has all the proper training to prove his point. All it would take is researching both sides and comparing the evidence. There is a lot of creationist scientist in the world that rejects evolution, so the data is there for a good debate.
So a judge concluding that the “intelligent design claim had no scientific merit” and could not “uncouple itself from religion” is somehow enough proof for you? You don’t think it took an intelligent designer to create all the order and precision in our universe? from the molecular level to the order of the galaxies? But somehow taking God out of it and saying we’re all here by accident/chance is somehow science.
Evolution has a lot of holes in its theory. For example, there’s no fossil evidence for the intermediary stages of any species on Earth.
How does the universe arises from nothing and then explodes in a bang?
Where did the energy come from for the explosion to take place?
      Where does consciousness come from?
How are we able to discover math in an accidentally created universe?
umm sound like a religion to me lol
But the bible doesn’t get enough credit. Once upon a time, people claimed a flat earth rested on top of elephants. The Bible always claims it to be a circle/sphere (Isaiah 40:22) and suspended on nothing (Job 26:7) before anyone. If you think about it, evolution is only popular today because of indoctrination. Most of us are taught to believe it from a very young age and it would be taboo to refute it.

Because he is a lesser. So are the people that accept this nonsense, just like flat Earthers.
These claims are known by the relevant scientists and they know they are meritless. eg. Entropy refers to usable energy in a system. not complexity, we get energy from the sun via plants. Evolution doesn't violate that. A living body or set of bodies, or species etc, isn't an enclosed system. The Prof is wrong. I could go on every point but that would be a major response.
Any of these topics are available on the internet.
pewresearch Darwin Day 6 from 2019
Scientists overwhelmingly agree that humans evolved over time, and most Americans are aware that this is the case. Among scientists connected to the American Association for the Advancement of Science, 98% say they believe humans evolved over time.
In court it has repeated failed for
In Kitzmiller v. Dover Area School District (2005)
District Judge John E. Jones III ruled that intelligent design is not science but “a religious argument” and “nothing less than the progeny of creationism.”
There is no science to creationism. It is false.

Now think of that on a bigger scale with a deeper thought process, how does plants in a forest grow without a an intelligent being watering it? It takes intelligence on a larger scale to open the clouds to rain upon these plants to grow them just as it takes you planting a seed in a pot and watering it. Just a different view on things. He says time works against evolution (15:05), How is that? , yet previously, he said that you needed one type of dog to create different species of dog like coyote, wolves, dingo etc etc (13:00) that sounds and looks like evolution to me. He also claims the planet, solar system, universe is thousands of years old, but that time frame is not long enough to observe evolutionary changes although on that time frame evolution is still in progress. Evolution works on the billions of years time frame to SEE GREAT CHANGES IN ANY SPECIES. Beside we humans don't leave long enough to see these evolutionary changes. Everything is still evolving as we speak..... he claims the flood happened 2500 BC then the question is when was the ancient Egyptian civilization started? 3100 BC...yet we know after the ancient Egyptian empire came the ancient Greeks 1600 BC, then the Romans 753 BC, then the Byzantium empire 330. The histories are the evidence. At 23:00 he was asked if any other humans or animals could have survived the flood, he responded, '' absolutely not''' meaning nothing survived but at 29:40 when ask about insects on the ark he states that insects are hardy just like giants of the sea that were not on the ark but though many died some survived. But earlier nothing outside the ark survived. SMH....Your argument is porous, incongruent, slightly piggy backs on science and frankly misguided. keep trying creationists, you will find it increasingly difficult to defend that point of view as science provides more evidence with the passage of time...and you will still be stuck with the same old story of creation that has not moved one millimetre. It was possible because it wasn't evolution triggered by natural selection. I'm not creationist but your argument with dogs is too weak. Thank you! At las not all of the readers here are guillible.
But let even look at the morality of the story since morals matter to them
Before God so loved the world to the extent that he would give his only son to be violently assaulted and murdered to shed his blood, (John 3.16) he actually committed a genocide on a global scale with a big big flood????
so as Christians are extolled (in Matthew 5:48 ) to be perfect like God, would they emulate God and kill all their wayward children in order to give yourself a new start??
As humans with far less intellect and compassion than their God, if they had the power to change/reform their children just by the power of their own pronouncements
wouldn't the killing of their children be the last thing on their mind as a solution?
Now check this. The bible says, God REGRETTED for creating humans and decided to commit such an act as a solution to pervasive sin.
And then what happened afterwards? He regretted again??? hahaha And then promptly promised to never do so again using a rainbow as a sign of covenant?
      SUMMARY
God killed everyone in a flood with the objective of dealing with pervasive sinfulness. IT DIDNT WORK
He burnt down Sodom and Gomorrah too with the objective of dealing with pervasive sinfulness. IT DIDNT WORK
He ordered the Amelikites to be assaulted (women and children killed), with the objective of dealing with their pervasive sinfulness. iT DIDNT WORK
He again resorted to the violent murder of his own child with the objective of dealing with pervasive sinfulness. IT DIDNT WORK
TODAY TODAY TODAY THERE IS PERVASIVE SINFULNESS
Now, for ascribing such spectacular failures to "God" supposedly a an all knowing being, how long before you all realized that all this could only be borrowed mythology?
      How fucking long?
I believe there is a Creator of the Universe, but certainly not the one in the bible and quran doing some quixotic stuff including entering a bet with Satan to destroy Job to show Satan that he is the boss.

Did you hear him say how much energy was released when the water came from under the earth? He said "a TRILLION BILLION ATOMIC BOMBS" worth - his EXACT words - that is almost 2 MILLION bombs per every single square metre of the ENTIRE earth! (yes, I actually calculated it) Think about it for about 3 seconds after considering what ONE bomb did to Hiroshima!
Or consider how many workers built the replica ark for Answers in Genesis WITH tools, proven techniques, superior materials etc. and it still had problems (including water damage :)
Or his words about "Brown inventing hydro-plate theory".
Brown is unqualified in anything related to plate tectonics or similar, has NEVER published a scientific paper, NEVER had his for profit book peer reviewed, and has ZERO scientific evidence to support his "theory" (it is actually an unproven hypothesis, not a theory, but he would require scientific knowledge to understand that)
He claimed he uses science! Yet almost nothing he said is supported by ANY science!
He spoke of no life arising from single celled organisms - what exactly is a human embryo?
Its a single celled sperm, combining with a single celled ovum to form a 2 celled embryo, that then develops further into something like you or me - so YOU came from a 2 celled organism, again showing his science is BS.
He spoke about evidence of a worldwide flood - there is NONE. There is plenty to show there were floods, but none to show a worldwide flood at the same time, and ZERO evidence to support a world only 6-7000 years old.
When he discusses water covering the entire earth, he very conveniently overlooks that scientists have calculated the amount of water required would be an additional approx 3 times EXTRA water to what exists on the surface today - imagine what this would do to salinity, pH etc of current water sources, and so devastating water life, both animal and plant.
As for the ark, yes, it was visual - it showed terrible technique - no interleaving of timbers for example to give added strength, then showing ridiculous lengths of trees - where did he source straight trees at least 180 feet long in such great numbers? Zero evidence of trees that size ANYWHERE near the middle east. So basically his "great visual aid" was misleading , unrealistic, and unlikely.
      want me to continue? ;)

20 minutes in... that's an enormous gift of effort that I gave to all those ignorants lost in this misinformation.
A model of the Arc doesn't prove the story to its full extent. Back then, the difference between civilized and uncivilized people was too evident, and they coexisted as close as by leaving a city one would be able to see savage people (the Epic of Gilgamesh -oldest story written found- describes how a king sent a prostitute to civilize a savage to make him his friend). Elites were perceived and self-perceived as gods. Nordic, Greek, Hindu, Inca and Aztec gods left several (some written) stories, which today may sound unbelievable due to different factors: one is the simple fact that they described abstract concepts with tangible analogies, for instance: "he turned to stone", "everything he touched turned into gold", "he made the skies tremble"; but even today we use those kinds of expressions: How would you feel if a human thousands of years from now read that you wrote "... so I broke the ice and let him off the hook" and believed you broke the actual frozen ground to save someone who was about to be hung? The other reason is also the simple fact that stories tend to get distorted with every person that passes it on. There are many other factors that make those stories unbelievable. So choosing to believe some and disbelieve the others and make a conflict of it is really really really dumb.
So back to the Arc, you may notice I write it with upper case, because it is out of respect. Several different sources have been found speaking about it, and the Bible in most detail, giving basically a meticulous blueprint. So it is wise to believe that there may have been such Arc. BUT, now to believe that a bunch of people gathered two of every species of animal in the world, there's a huge leap of faith that goes against all we see and know, and believing it is not wise. No true god would require his own creation to believe in things that go against all evidence. I can believe that a very knowledgeable landlord was able to predict a big flood (which occurs every year somewhere), and built an arc to load his sheep, cows, some horses, dogs, cats, etc. But there was no komodos there, nor traces of many other animals found around the real world.
Other mistake to be mentioned: "sea life was found at the top of the mountains". Geologists have been studying plaque tectonics for centuries, and can easily see evidence of plaques being pressed against each other giving rise to mountains, but simply elevating ground that once was below sea level. A dumb conclusion is to believe that the sea covered the top of those mountains, when the worst floods may cover less than 0.1% of the height of a decent mountain!

Finding a mechanism for the acceleration and dealing with the excessive heat and radiation it would generate posed major problems for the project. Catastrophic plate tectonics was proposed to explain continental movements in a short timeframe and serve as a trigger for Noah’s Flood, but other creationists rejected the idea citing hopeless chronological problems. Creationists have also sought to explain the order of the fossil record and the Ice Age in a young-earth timeframe. An examination of these efforts demonstrates the anti-scientific nature of using the Bible as a non-negotiable framework for earth history.

The catch phrase to this video is misleading “…debunks evolution”, there is nothing in the videoclip that debunks evolution. Coleman at the start says there are three ways of deriving the truth - logic, science and vision. Unfortunately, logic can also lead to false conclusion. Take for example the simple logic construction A=B, B=C, therefore A must equal C. All animals have 4 legs, a table has 4 legs, therefore a table is an animal. A logically sound construct that led to a false conclusion. Just look at the many so called visions from famous “seers” and see how many of these came true, the statistic is not significant. Science with all its own challenges still remains one of humans most reliable method at deriving a probable truth within a confidence level. Science is not reliant on old documents (many of which are questionable including the Bible), what a person says is the truth, dogma, race, tribe, customs or traditions but involves rigour and a truth that can be independently confirmed or proven wrong by different people across the globe. Let’s look an other arguments put forward by Coleman for the truism of the Noah Ark story. Biblical scholars trace the origin of this story to Mesopotamia, in a genre of myth. The numbers cited in this Noah story, 120, 40 days and night, 300, 50, 3 levels, 6 (3 sons 3 wives = 33), 600 years, 8 people, etc, can be found in different cosmological derived stories of various cultures across the globe. I have written a book called Akashic Records and the Holy Grail, in this book I dedicate a chapter entitled “Divine Numbers” that discusses the persistency and meaning of various numbers found in various societies and the meaning thereof. It is said that it took Noah and family (8 in total (1 Peter 3:20) another mythological number also rendered as the infinity sign), 55 to 75 years to build the Ark, it is most likely the number 72 that it is related to Pythagoras’ famous theorem of a right angle triangle. The sins for which this god wanted to destroy the earth and all living creatures are because sons of god saw human females as fair and took them as wives and because of violence on earth. What does poor creatures have to do with human love/sex matters and human violence and have to suffer collective punishment. There is no genetic proof that all humans came from the Noah and his family family-tree. Coleman also does not understand animal diversity as linked to their habitat and thus geographic spread. For example the polar bear is found at the North Pole regions, the Panda in China, so Noah in the Middle East must have had an Alien spacecraft to travel the world to collect the different species? What amazes me most is the blatant illogical nonsense which you often found in so called religious texts, let’s look at the Bible, you have a god the is all might, can perform miracles, yet he needs weak people to carry out his will. If he is as might as is claimed, all he needed to do is gather all the animals he wanted to save at a specific place and destroyed the rest, why would he need an old man like Noah. Why is the miracles he performs so insignificant to the majority challenges facing nature and humans - what significance is the changing of water into wine when you had applauding slavery, and the then incurable diseases like leprosay (colonies of these people existed, it took science to cure this disease), endless wars and other ills of humans. I always laugh at the nonsense of Allah prohibiting the drinking of wine or alcohol and then you fined some Muslims taking drugs, and when you confront them their reply is that Allah only forbids alcohol not drugs! Of what value is the levitation of Buddhas monks!

Anil. I do not purport to know how our universe and material life came into existence. The chance theory versus creationist theory of the universe have a long history of debate. The chance theory is supported by some scientific observations whereas the creationist theory which is given as fact is only supported by religious dogma - because some religious texts says so therefore it is so. Different so called religious texts from different societies have their own versions of the creationist “theory” or shall we say creation myth. For example in the Bible, we have an old male deity (Jewish god) speaking the universe and life into being. The Hindus believe that everything always existed in a constant flux resulting in ever changing of one thing into another - the Wheel of Samsara. All effort must be made by humans to escape this endless cycle of reincarnation by becoming enlightened beings. In the ancient Egyptian belief system, Path , a ram-headed god created humans from clay on a spinning wheel. In other creation myth, a god sacrificed himself and out of this the entire universe was created. So which one of these stories is true and why chose one when all of them are based on dogma. Let’s turn to science and see what we know about the universe. The universe is about 14 billion years old with some new evidence suggesting it might be even more older. Life about 1 to 2 billion years, human species (the most destructive beings on planet earth who have created nuclear capabilities that can wipeout itself and all living things) about 1 to 2 million years old. Only about 5 percent of the universe is made of matter, about 95 of unknown (dark something and dark energy). Most of our scientific endeavours have been focused on understanding matter related issues but in roads are being made to understand the 95 percent. Quantum theory is assisting us to gain new insights into this “unknown” phenomenon. Let’s turn to living things and see what science has discovered. The elements that forms the building blocks of life was formed billions of years ago in the so called Big Bang theory. We have a fairly good understanding of all of these elements, identified in what we call the Periodic Table. Our fossil records show that the first life forms were simple single cell organisms and these evolved to form multicellular organisms. No religious text says anything about this but the Hindu text might hint at this saying that inorganic matter can transform into life. Inorganic matter can spontaneously associate to form complex structures, look at a snow flake or crystals as examples but what is still a massive unsolved problem is the question of what constitutes “life” and how and why would inorganic matter became “alive”. From a physics point of view, elements want to be at the lowest energy level, complexity demands higher energy levels and is thus unstable. There are still no definitive answers to these questions. We know that all life forms are made of nucleic acids (RNA and DNA). The famous Miller Experiment showed that under the right physical conditions simple inorganic elements can spontaneously associate to form simple chain macromolecules, strings of RNA and peptides. You did not need a deity to create these. It has also been discovered that celestial bodies like comets carry simple nucleic chains and so there is some suggestions that life may have arisen from these macromolecules. So what we call chance is far more complex than what the average Joe Blocks understand, yet, he is always the one who passionately argue, not based on facts but emotions, that the six-day creation story is true!
