Hi I'm Ayngelina and my full time job is my site BaconisMagic.ca it's all about the best food around the world and how to make it at home.
In 2010 I left a job in advertising, 5 year relationship and sold all my possessions to travel the world. In the last ten years I've had some crazy experiences and even owned a restaurant in Toronto at one time. And prior to 2020 I had been based in Cuba.
When the world shut down I returned to Canada and decided to teach myself video. I wanted to share more than just words and photos but to show people the adventures I have learning about food around the world.
I'm not married. I have no kids. But I do have a lot of local friends who help me discover the best local tips.

I love that Cajas offers such a great escape from the city-and so close by! Will definitely put this on our to-do list when we visit.
I think it would be perfect for a hike at Cajas and then to stay the evening there. Honestly the food was so good and better than other places I've had in the area.

As always, thanks for your wonderful representation. I was first/last in country 2007 on military assignment and fell in love. Planned to return last spring, but that was curtailed by another assignment back on the mainland (from Hawai'i). Watching your vids gives me something to continually look forward to. Oh wow I have to imagine the country will be so different. Even from 2010 to now I see so many improvements in infrastructure.

Geodomes look very cool ☺️☺️ cuenca is always rainy, but it's a way to keep everything green 😅
Yeah I shot that during rainy season which didn't help but I do love how green it is.

Have any pics of bathroom? I am a little fussy about shared bathrooms. Is there just one bathroom for the three tents?
One bathroom for three tents. It's underneath the one I stayed in and is a modern bathroom with toilet, shower and water basin. There are also bathrooms at the restaurant.
By the way, my wife approves. We have been camping quite a bit here in Texas, but it's always been much closer to glamping for her sake.

What is the government doing about ranchers clearing the trees from the mountains?
Good question. It becomes complicated on private land away from the national parks because in Ecuador people have a right to make a living. But, in my opinion, no one is looking at the bigger picture that the prevalence of landslides in recent years is because of clear cutting.

Oh thank you! I love showing unique locations. I am not moving to Greece but after traveling there for 10 days I have definitely fallen in love...with the food. The Greek Feto PDO board invited me there to learn about why feta in Greece is special and it was magical. But I will be back in Ecuador in November. Until then I have extra videos that I shot to share while I am away.

I’ll have a wrap up of Esmeraldan food but Montanita was my last coastal video until I come back and do another road trip.
Visit the cities that are not close to the sea but are in the middle of the coast and close to the sierra. There are beautiful cities and great food.
Are you at liberty to explain the types of messages you received which caused you to burn with fire inside?

Haha no. Actually because I’ve been blogging for 12 years I can let trolls and mean comments slide right off me. People who take the time to write something hateful aren’t happy in life so it doesn’t bother me.
If someone disagrees with me or corrects something I say I leave the comment up because it adds to the conversation. But if someone is just being rude I delete it. I’m lucky that it rarely happens …right now because I’m small and it’s funny because I find Ecuadorians are more kind than expats who think they know everything 🙄.
