Ranking every level in paper Mario sticker star!
How about every main dungeon in the Mario rpgs. With one selected per game as per usual. It can be rated on aesthetic, puzzles, music, and just general fun. I am a fan of the Mario rpgs (Dream Team and Origami King especially) so I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the matter. Keep up the good content: I wish you a path of success!
@@TheOrigamiAnalysis honestly good idea.

Big video alert:
You're ranking every song in a Mario rpg's soundtrack. (Maybe all of them?)
These were a massive improvement from the Sticker star levels
ABSOLUTELY AGREE
Even if I do like sticker star, color splash was more fun so… AGREE
For the thing cards, there's a toad in a trashcan you can talk to at Port Prisma, next to the wringer. He will give clues on what things you'll need, where you could find them, and whether you already have the things you need.
In my opinion, this is a definitely better mechanic than sticker star, where nobody tells you what thing to use, or how to get it before finding it once, and you had to rely on guesswork.
My favourite level is Dark Bloo Inn, I love the idea of beeing in a kind of time loop and have to solve the ghosts problems
You do NOT have to go through golden colosseum twice!! At least not in the first playthrough. If you get the bottle opener and ice pick first, you can climb back up basically to right before the area where you get the bone.
For #8, There's also a Shy Guy from the Sunset Express who talked to Mario and said he didn't like working for Bowser. In this level, that same Shy Guy is on one of those swing things. I think this is really good storybuilding and just wanted to point that out.
I have awful memories of the golden colosseum in this game. It was the last level in the game that I finally 100% colored because of it's confusing layout hiding one little colorless spot that I spent hours trying to find.
I’m on my first playthrough of color splash…8 years after the game released, and I saved me a huge hassle with the golden colosseum. So, thanks!
You forgot to mention, the prison break is also fun because of that fourth wall joke a Snifit makes.
you mean the one about the age rating
4:57 “But then, you have the fr*EAK*ing boat ride!”
That was like, the perfect time for me to voice crack LOL
@@ShroobInvaderLMAO, this was a great video though, I always wanted to make a video with the same idea, but I’ve never done it.
I don't know if this is just a me thing but I like watching how the new levels get painted on the world map. It's oddly satisfying
Last time I played Colour splash was with a gamepad that had terrible stick drift. Kiwano temple became my least favourite after falling off the rolling things approximately fifty thousand times.
Sorry for the late comment, I just want to say that you are very underrated
In the German Version the Coloseum is called "Golden Colorseum"
Paper Mario Color Splash was a major part of my late childhood. Now thanks to Cemu, I can relive that childhood.😊
its nice seeing color splash content this game is super underrated even if it does have some major flaws (well, one major flaw)
we don't talk about that major flaw
My Ranking. (This will be a long one. Also I’m not counting Port Prisma because it’s more of a hub world.)
31. Mossrock Theater (The only bad level. Does have nice atmosphere and solid gameplay but some of the enemies come in way too quickly for you to react. The real stain is that you have to play the level three times to truly complete it. Not like those extra Paint Stars lead anywhere special…)
30. Golden Colosseum (I want to like this level. It’s basically a Roman Glitzville, but it’s too confusing.)
29. Redpepper Volcano (More time consuming to actually play for an unremarkable level.)
28. Kiwano Temple (Well designed yes, but it’s tedious and you have to play it twice.)
27. Redpepper Crater (Speaking of unremarkable volcano levels…)
26. Mondo Woods (I think the idea of everything being huge has worn off on me. Not like the level is any remarkable outside of that.)
25. Dark Bloo Inn (I think it’s cute referencing Enigmansion and the Excess Express, but it’s also confusing and is under a time limit to boot.)
24. Tangerino Grill (Really sound ideas here, but the action commands are incredibly finicky and of course the Steak.)
23. Lighthouse Island (About the only thing memorable is the dark segment.)
22. Plum Park (Hey look. World 3 from Sticker Star. Still unremarkable.)
21. Chateau Chanterelle (It’s the professor’s home. Wooooo.)
20. Ruddy Road (Nice little first level with a cute ending sequence.)
19. Crimson Tower (Great end Dungeon. Wish it was longer)
18. Bloo Bay Beach (Nothing remarkable outside of Oceanfest.)
17. Vortex Island (The Introduction to Parallel Worlds and the battle at the end is cute too.)
16. Indigo Underground (Saving the Rescue Squad, and experiencing horror.)
15. Sunglow Ridge (Would’ve been a lot lower had it not been for the story bit.)
14. Violet Passage (Well done, unique level. Great stuff)
13. Sacred Forest (Absolutely hilarious subversion with everything being tiny.)
12. Cherry Lake (Jolly atmosphere, Great Music, and a memorable toad. What?)
11. The Emerald Circus (Yeah it’s just an enemy skirmish but it’s a great one.)
10. Cobalt Base (Sniffit or Whiffit on steroids but also not as good as Stump Glade.)
9. Daffodil Peak (A short yet sweet one with nice music and pipe interior encounters.)
8. Mustard Cafe (Now we’ve gotten to the truly amazing levels. This one being a romp through a desert with an X-Naut Fortress reference at the end.)
7. Marmalade Valley (Fun, oddly intense and just the highlight of World 2)
6. Sunset Express (Well executed stopping a runaway train level.)
5. Fortune Island (Does the Parallel World but the best and sticks out as a true highlight in a sea of great levels.)
4. Green Energy Plant (You know it. You love it. It’s SMB3. And it references SPM by fixing its 3D issues.)
3. Black Bowser’s Castle (Absolutely Amazing final level with two great bosses.)
2. Toad Trainworks (One of the wackiest scenarios in PM history and its real fun too. Also the Toads and their counterattacks are funny.)
1. Fort Cobalt (This level absolutely slaps. It’s very intense with its emphasis on stealth and it actually feels like you’re raiding a military base.)
Well that was a lot. Feels good to have the Shroob back.
Nice Ranking :D I also won't be including Port Prisma on my list either so
@@ShroobInvader i fully agree to not put port prisna in the list, it serve as the hub area, you wouldent place toad town, rogueport or flipside/flopside on the list because they serve as hub areas
I feel like people don’t talk about the levels that much in this game there all very well designed and each bring there own unique thing to the table something most people don’t talk about
The goat Mario RPG creator is back bro I am excited love your ranking videos. Also are u ever planning to do fan boss rankings again cause I would love to vote
Thank you :D and yes I want to, I wanna first get into a rhythm of making videos first before I do that but I will make an announcement video for it so everyone would know
Fortune island was so good that they even used the background music as Captain T.Ode’s theme in origami king. Same goes for bonehead island! The design is just so similar, but origami king’s version is a little bit of a downgrade from fortune island
This is definitely exciting can't wait for the video to come out.
thank you :D
@@ShroobInvader no problem.
Interesting list. Even though I hate the battle system in Color Splash, and there are definitely some frustrating gameplay moments, there are some highlights too, and watching this definitely reminded me of them.
Personally, both Volcano levels and Kiwano Temple seemed a bit low to me, while Fort Cobalt seemed a bit high.
While Kiwano Temple is a bit slow-paced, I still enjoyed the concept it used, and I also think the environment is still interesting, even if it's not lively, as you said. I guess I can understand why having to play the level again is frustrating, but there are other Color Splash levels that also do that, so it's definitely not a problem exclusive to Kiwano Temple. Also, perhaps I'm just more tolerant of repetition that other people.
I might like the Volcano levels a bit more than others partially because I just happen to like volcano/lava levels in general, but I enjoyed the platforming gimmicks that it introduced, and they definitely captured the volcanic atmosphere quite well.
The main reason Fort Cobalt would be lower for me is that I hate the final part of the shuffling gate puzzle. The ones before that are fine, because they just deal some damage, which you can heal with the hearts that appear, but the last one dropping you into a room full of enemies is just obnoxious. Since I don't like the combat in this game, climbing out of that room is a slog, and it's frustrating because whether or not you end up in that room is total luck. You could even have to fall into it twice if you're particularly unlucky.
Kiwano temple I think the slow pace I should have brought up more because it’s the main reason that it’s annoying to me, maybe for one time it’s not terrible but the fact that you gotta wait and do the same thing twice is just not fun. at least with other levels you can just kinda breeze through like Mossrock theater which is kinda nice. Also the volcano levels honestly is fair enough I have no rebuttal to that 🤣. I personally don’t have a setting archetype in video games that always are fun to me but I absolutely see why people love certain places.
Here are some levels that are annoying to do for me:
1. Tangerino Grill
2. Marmalade Valley
3. FUCKING VIOLET PASSAGE
4. Fortune Island
5. Cobalt Base
6. Black Bowser’s Castle
yeah I can agree to violet passage being tedius and I never knew the last gate in fort cobalt drops enemies
Ooh boy it's paper time!
Heck ye :D
Gosh ive been waiting for this!!!
It has been worth the wait :D
@Shroob Invader I'm sure it will be, I've always found this entry in the mario rpg very sat on, I liked it and always will.
Now that i see all the levels again... even the ones last on your list i think were really fun. I enjoyed this games world.
Shroob you did a awesome job on this video
thank you :D
I wanted to make my own ranking video like this but didn’t know there was 31 levels i thought there was only like 28 i guess i missed some but i see where you’re coming from with these choices.
there are so so so many and it took me such a long a time to do this so I don't even blame you LOL

Great to see you back, do you plan to rank all 6 Paper Mario games (or 5 since I dunno if you actually played Paper Mario 64) like you did with the Mario & Luigi games?
ACTUALLY, this is the first time I’m saying this on CZcams, but I’m literally playing through The OG Paper Mario when writing this very comment, I’m currently on Chapter 6 which means I will soon finally be able to start making full Paper Mario videos and talk about the entire series as a whole as well so it’ll be exciting!
@@ShroobInvader Great, my most fond memories of any Mario Rpg for me are from PM64, so I'm looking forward to see videos that you can make for that awesome game.
@@ShroobInvader Way to go Shroob!
@@ShroobInvader 64 is honestly my favorite, so I'm super excited to hear your opinions on it!
it took this long in the game's lifespan for someone to rank this
I don't blame anyone else who hasn't cause it took a LONG time to do it lol
I love your vids man keep it up.
Thank you :D
If there's a thing that I can say with complete confidence that modern paper mario did better than the first two is the overworld design, and contrary to popular belief, and since you will be in the overworld everytime you're not battling, that's a really good thing to achieve. I wish there was a game with the combat of the first games (maybe a bit more refined) and the overworld design of the modern games (namely origami king)
I slightly disagree just cause I think that the old games also have pretty good world designs to begin with but modern paper mario does have those parts about it that just really look great.
@@ShroobInvader I think classic paper mario does indeed have good level design, but yk'now, ttyd have a certain problem with backtracking and I feel like modern paper mario is a bit more open for exploration
If you don't immediately know what to use on the steak, you can just talk to the toads to understand what you need and in what order
To make Snifit or Whiffit a bit easier, you can take a camera and take pictures of the cards on screen (whenever possible) to know what cards to pick in case you forgot them
Hes back! Finally!!1!1!!1
IM BACK :D
Mortan can’t hear your complaint when he’s on his pedal stool
You should definitely play super mario RPG: the legend of the seven stars, it would be fun to know your opinion about it
I completely agree its sadly the hardest one to play without emulation since nintendo switch online sadly doesn't have it which is so shocking
@@ShroobInvader did a quick research, there's only 2 non emulator ways to play it:
1.- OG SNES cartridge
2.- Wii virtual console
1 is hard to find and 2 is impossible because they closed it
So your options are, not playing it, emulating it, or buying a snes with the og cartridge :/
@@ShroobInvader
Luckily, as of writing this comment, a remake has come out on Switch :D
Let’s go! I honestly think that the levels in color splash are amazing. Almost everyone has something unique and memorable about it. It just sucks The game is held back by its bad battle system
I mostly agree yeah, especially with the battle system part of that LOL
Personally, I loved the battle system, it solved most of the issues with Sticker Star's one. Probably my favourite battle system of the Paper Mario games.
@@AverageCommentor can we at least both agree though that bosses forcing you to have the right thing sticker was a horrible decision
@@questionmarkquestionmarkques.
Yep, I absolutely agree. Being able to beat the boss without the thing card, like in some of the bosses in Sticker Star, should've been an option, but having the thing card should've still made the boss easier as a reward for collecting it. The game doesn't make it too obvious what thing card you need either.
@@AverageCommentorexcept if you make frequent calls with the toad in the trash can.
I am replaying Mario and Luigi partners in time after that game i might replay origami king or Bowser's inside story.
Noice
The Legend is back🗿
Thank you :D
When I was younger I was so stuck on the Sniffit of Wiffit I was going to ask Santa to beat it for me no I’ve only gone back and beat it this week
I enjoyed watching walkthroughs of the game as a kid
ZACKSCOTT?!
I once made a gallery about Color Splash, where I made some additions to the levels:
1. Starlow makes a cameo appearance in the Ruddy Road level, in which a neon Shy Guy paints her. She is also happy to see Mario.
2. Bloo Bay Beach includes Cheep Cheeps and Deep Cheeps in the water, posing no threat.
3. Watt appears in the Daffodil Peak level for some relaxation, but she is upset by the areas lack of color.
4. Violet Passage's ship has a Dry Bones and some rats.
5. Bowser Jr is a boss, attacking Mario with the graffiti from Super Mario Sunshine.
6. Kylie Koopa is seen in the Vortex Island area, to do a report on it.
7. Gooper Blooper is a mini-boss in the Violet Passage level. He fights Mario with black goop, like he did in Super Mario Sunshine.
these are some good ideas :D
Those additions, as well as an improved battle system would actually make Color Splash a relatively good Paper Mario game. But that would be more effort than what the original creators intended with Color Splash (yes, I still believe Color Splash had little care or effort put in to it, unlike Sticker Star which had effort & care)
The spelling Nintendo used is correct. Colosseum is used for Roman coliseums, while Coliseum is for general coliseums outside of Rome.
Do you happen to have a version of CS where the word coliseum is actually misspelled? I got some footage from MPL, if you want to see. czcams.com/video/vn4vqVklw3k/video.html
Way before i got this game i used to watch people play this game
I’m honestly a little shocked that The Emerald Circus is so low and that your reasoning for it being low is the enemy gauntlet factor
It’s the final level for the final paint star, of course it’s going to be hard, and the “saving cards for bosses is also a little weird”, I get that people had the same issue with sticker star where battling was just completely unnecessary, but the game gives you an unbelievable amount of money, so buying new cards (or plain finding cards around) should be enough to get though the game
Huh, it’s about time this game got an area rank.
It's ranking every single level in Color splash.
So?
@@thegreatkamekus4524 ok.
Yeah this game really needed it, after doing my favorite world and then my least fav levels, I felt like this needed to be made since I could really split these areas into any other ranking
@@ShroobInvader ah ok.
I hate the steak because i had to grind the roshambo temples for ages to hit it perfectly with the hammer.
In my opinion, Color splash and Sticker star are not comparable. Color splash is actually a pretty decent game, and while playing it, I had very few problems. It seems like sticker star on the surface, but it’s like comparing a pretty good game to a 20 hour torture session
I cannot believe how high up mossrock theatre is… it has the same problems you listed in kiwano temple, but you have to do it 3 TIMES, it’s AGONY. And the level just doesn’t have anything too interesting in it
I think it’s straight up the atmosphere that emerald circus has as well as the interesting gameplay with the circus enemies and at least the pace isn’t slow from all the waiting in Kiwano Temple which makes the pace like I said slow as HECK. I probably should have put more attention in the video to how bad the pacing of Kiwano temple is because it is easily the biggest problem for me personally.
@@ShroobInvader that’s fair. Unfortunately for me, the atmosphere doesn’t click with me. Just not really my style. Which is odd, because I love atmosphere. But the musical style of the wood levels just ain’t my cup of tea.
I am very happy this came out
Also thank you for not putting Kiwano temple high up on this list
Hey shroob, do you still remember the ranking Every Mario rpg based on presentation (music and graphics) video idea I had, and can you still make that a video?

21:56 STICKERS!?!
Finally someone who likes the Red Pepper Dragon as much as me
I love this game sm
Shroob I think you have ranked every possible thing in the Mario RPGs
NEVER THERE IS ALWAYS MORE
How DARE YOU say about Tangerino Grill (Beside the Steak). The cooking part was really fun! Sure, it can get tedious when you fail, but at least it's just 10 coins.
I agree with you on Violet Passage, that one takes SO LONG TO DO. It’s really irritating how hard, long AND annoying it is. All of that COMBINED makes it a horrible level.
Take a shot every time he says “infuriating” or “cryptic” or even “very infuriating”
AAAAAW YEAH
YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Also, the way ‘Coliseum’ is spelt must have something to do with different countries. I could be wrong, but that’s what I’m thinking.
oh boy and the worst thing about the steak is if you fail 3 times YOU have to start paying for the steaks which can semi softlock you as you may need to grind for coins as each failed attempt cost 1k coins... the max coins is 9999 if you havn't guessed i failed ALOT
Oh that’s actually annoying 💀 see what I personally do is look up a let’s play on it and do EXACTLY what they do for tenderizing just to make sure I do it perfectly so I don’t mess it up.
NOOO, I finished all the way up until #2 on the list and my device overheated, sorry Shroob, but I can’t write that list again

If you ranked port prisma where would you put it
It would be probably around where Ruddy Road and Cherry Lake are just because its basic but at least fun to be in!

Hey Shroob, as someone who played through this game, I feel like it is just a worse sticker star, and my perspective is that Sticker Star is one of the best games of all time, weird take, I know. And I watched the vid and unexpectedly disagreed than a lot more than I thought. But Color Splash simply has 3 things wrong with it, to where it just is not an S-tier game
1. The Battle System: people say that the battle system in sticker star was bad, and without comparison to other games, it works in its own way, this game’s does not, it doesn’t tell you how much your attacks do, nor does it give a specific amount of damage that an enemy can withstand, just a certain amount of paint. The other problem is it takes a while for just a single attack to come out, and that’s not necessarily a problem except there’s not much you can do to speed it up. There are also required thing cards for every single koopaling fight, one requiring two, and then there’s the steak, sticker star did this with the Giant Fish and the Bowser Fight only, the rest could be beaten without them.
2. Gameshow. All Gameshows up until this game have been astounding, I’m not comparing, but I’d rather not play the 30 minute game of memory where messing up once prevents you from attaining the camera
3. What this video is about, Color Splash contains not only some of the worst levels in the series, but in video game history, I used to remember Mossrock Theater as the bad one, but that level barely doesn’t crack my list of top 100 worst levels in video game history and yet everything worse than it, is in that list, one of which is the single worst level in history in my opinion and a few others crack the “top” 10… yikes
This list I will make in another comment, but I would like for you to give a brief critique of it when it comes around 👍🏻
This is an interesting take 👀, I think there is one reason and I’ll talk about this once I eventually do a video about ranking all the Mario RPGs, I nowadays care way less about battling and moreso care about variety in the overworld. For me, this game really only has a couple levels I actually hate (the bottom 3) but the rest are tolerable and even fun! But yeah if you care less about the levels and more about the battle system, you probably won’t like this game.
Well, Shroob this game for me is A tier, pros outweigh the cons imo
@@fuhbox Sticker Star isnt one of the best games of all time, its just one of the games of all time.
I miss you
22:00 wrong game
its definitely from color splash o-o
Personally best Mario game
cobalt base is at least top 10
If I’m being honest, paper, Mario, color, splash will always have a special place in my heart, and in my opinion, it’s actually tied for the best paper Mario games
Edit: I do agree on Tangerino Grill being the worst, I was stuck on that for actually years, if you’re also stuck on it, I recommend buying the ingredients made from purple toad, trust me it’s a better option
Agreed. In my opinion, the world in this game also feels the most connected, which makes the game much better.
I thought the professor’s home was the worst level in the game.
If you think that is the worst level, that is totally ok! I personally just think some other levels are just not fun to be in so a level that has no content would be less painful to be in for that regard
insateler
I wish i had a wii u to play this game so badly 😭
Yeah that’s the part that makes this annoying to play 💀
worst: none
best: ALL
: D
Also bonehead island in origami king has a remixed Fortune Island OST
Except for a few yes :D
Okay, but why?
Kiwano Temple isnt the worst level on this list. 0/10
Paper Mario Color Splash sure does have memorable levels. But it doesn't really matter to me anyways because this game does not have a single level taking place in a cold setting, complete with ice and/or snow. This really bothers me in a deep level, even if I haven't played Paper Mario Color Splash. It's a game of various settings, but considering how it never has any levels taking place somewhere freezing, especially since the role of balancing out the hot levels remain vacant, that's a great disservice to me. At least with Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, it has the Airway, along with the Freezer room in Bowser's castle where the optional Shroob fight takes place. I just saying that I like things to be balanced, especially when it comes to temperature range, and I'm sorry for having to be bothered by such minor issues, but it's my opinion after all.
That is something I have never heard before
Maybe Nintendo is trying to warn us about anthropogenic climate change.
Ice levels with colorless spots would be a a nigthmare for some people
Wrong
