That's a clever trick in dividing up a swatch sheet!
I love your paper division trick for when it’s narrower than the number of columns/rows you need - that is so cool and smart! Thank you for sharing!
Very good trick! Much better than flipping back and forth between mm and 1/16ths inches to find the easiest way to divide. This goes along with the punch hole peep hole color checker as one of my very favorite tricks I learned from watching Miranda.

I just did this with my own Rosa gallery paints about two weeks ago as I got four new paints for Christmas so it tipped me over the space I had in my two palettes that I was using for them. I used a pencil tin too and it's perfect. I agree I love the gaps - it's much easier to avoid cross contamination. I love the sepia and the raw umber - pretty handy for living in rainy Scotland, along with the black grape and black green. I use the golden brown alot too. Warm grey was a useful purchase for me too. I think where you live really influences the colours that are useful.
Ah, yea, you used a pencil tin, too! The Warm Gray is on my list!

Chica is cute. I like the maroon grey and the azure green the best. That blue color comes in right behind the first two colors. You made a beautiful picture.

I loved all the muted dark tones, I much prefer them to the bright colours, that magenta grey was stunning! I don't own enough watercolour paints for a big palette like that but that upcycled pencil tin worked a treat! :D

I recently picked up the Opera Rose in a tube and was pretty let down by all the binder and air in the tube. I think I might stick with their full pans! I'm so glad your Rosa collection grew Miranda! They are such awesome colors!
Oh no! Thank goodness these tubes seemed great. Whew!
This upset problem only happens with OPERA and rose Madder from Rosa. Another tubes have thick paint inside🤗

I enjoy my Rosa gallery palette. I have 36 colours and I’m happy with that. I find Rosa gallery have a lot of similar colours in their range.
I have used a 36 pencil tin, which I sprayed the inside of lid white enamel. I use full pans and currently have 91 colours in and have room for 5 more colours in the future . I find it is best to store the lid under and use a ceramic plate as the lid does take up too much room. Love the look of Rosa galleries, but not in my future because this girl has way too many (if there is such a thing, lol) ... I did discover if you photograph your swatch sheet and convert it to grey scale, you get a clear picture of the colours tonal values. Love your videos, Miranda, thankyou.
That's a lot of colors but it sounds delightful! I'm glad this particular pencil tin is small enough to still be manageable on the desk. Whew!
I'm also doing a swatch card project. I'm curious what fields you have in your spreadsheet? I have a Notion database set up but haven't started putting the information in yet. Can't wait to hear more about your project!
Hi! These are the fields I currently have in my spreadsheet: Brand, Color Name, Pigments, LF, Opacity, Granulating, Staining. I'll probably add a Notes column soon because there are certain comments I may want to add to some of the colors. I also currently sort the physical cards by Hue, but I'm finding that frustrating now that some time has passed and I might re-sort them by brand name instead. I haven't fully decided yet.

Miranda! You are a genius! I never would have thought of that trick of dividing up the swatch sheet. I just received 45 Rosa gallery tubes that I hand picked. I’m having so much fun with them. One of my favorite colors is Maroon Brown (pbr25 and pv23) and the aureoline green is stunning!

Just bought Azure green and magenta gray…thought about them all day long….couldnt wait 😂. Maybe we do need a 12-step program. 😂. What happened was I went to Omnia, who didn’t have any left..lol and behold, there’s a new distro in town who DID have tubes! (But now they seem to be gone from their store…at $6.99 & free shipping..I really hope I get my tubes!). I found another seller, apparently from Ukraine, that has the new colors…I NEED the pyroll red! Also..carbon red? Indanthrone gray? Ultramarine Spectral? ❤️. Zvonko art studio.

Thank you Miranda, I got almost the same new granulating colours as you did to add to my Rosa selection, the only one that was a bit disappointing to me was the golden brown, not much 'golden' about it, the others are lovely and I'm very pleased with them, I might get the cerulean blue next batch too I like PB36 :)

Hi, Miranda! I love the way you've organised the paints in the palette so that the pans are vertical. I'm with you on needing the gap between the paints to avoid an over-splash, too It's one reason that I prefer having moveable pans, and not putting the paint straight into ready-made wells. I'm still on a neat-learning curve with my two mini-palettes (your DV's and my mini-ex-make-up palette) but I'm getting better at those.
Spoiled voice-over? 🤔 The noises weren't that obvious - well, I didn't notice them, anyway! - and the odd off-screen noise is only a reminder that the artist has a life apart from the camera!

I definitely too old to be trying to learn watercolor. I got worn out just watching you update your palette. As for the neat way to make equal lines, my brain totally shut down. Called oldest son who use to teach all the high school AP math classes for help. "Sure that's easy. Use it all the time in woodworking". Now more confused then ever. Need to take a few minutes to check out the White Night granulating green. They'll knock your socks off.

Q: Hi Miranda loved this video and I want to know what tin you used to put all those colors in and how did you adhere them so they didn't slip around?
It used to be a pencil tin from Faber-Castell and I used Scor-Tape to adhere them, which is acid-free double-sided tape. 🙂
How well do the Rosa Gallery tube paints dry in pans? I have several tubes of Sennelier (which are lovely) but there are a couple I wouldn't trust to stay put in a travel palette! 😆
They are still quite soft. Much softer than the ones that come in pans directly. I would hesitate to put them in a travel palette. At least so far.

Maybe I missed it, but where did you get the large pan/palette? I’ve currently got my Rosa’s in 2 palettes, but would love to put them together!
The only ones I don’t have are some of the granulating ones. Omnia, the shop on Etsy that sells these and WN, only gets a few shipments a year from Ukraine and boy do they sell out fast! (The most requested ones). Now that I have my bestie obsessed with these, it’s the 2 of us watching for new shipments! (Much to her dear hubbies distress…he says his two old American hippy ladies need a 12-step program 😉😁)
