yeah, I feel like first we had the streaming wars now we have the subscription wars. Everyone is just looking to make passive income these days from subscriptions. Because becoming “a member” of any channel basically just is a fancy way of saying you are a subscriber paying a monthly fee.

Yup. If I really 'let myself go' and eat whatever/whenever, it basically amounts to an aggressive cut. The key to staying lean is apparently 'forgetting to eat anything except coffee until you get lightheaded at 2pm, then being satisfied by a cup of greek yogurt'

Vshred is def BS but I wouldn't say it's the looks purely, it's a great example of how a tight marketing campaign that preys on people's fears and validates their (excuses) for why they can't get into shape is easy money. I remember when I was 120lbs and thought I just had a CRAZY metabolism, then I started tracking my actual calories and realized I was eating under 2K calories a day.

@@andymax1 That doesn't sound physically possible, but in any case, under 1k calories per day is not healthy for someone that big. Go for a more moderate calorie deficit for actually sustainable weight loss..

same bro. plus i never really liked junk food. so i've always eaten "clean" and what i thought were good portions for my meals. but once i started keeping track of the calories in everything I realized I was way undereating.

I was skinny my whole life and was described as someone who can eat anything and not gain weight but as soon as I started having regular breakfasts and suppers I immediately started gaining weight, pure unexplained magic.

I fell into this a few years ago. Bought all their suppliments. Did the hiit stuff w videos. Then a couple of months later my retina seperated 3 times and I’m now nlind in tgat eye and had to be face down 24 7 for 6 weeks total in 7 mnths. Anyway, now I have a trainer and getting proper nutrition. Glad I found this RP channel.

Yeah people just don't want to accept that you need to do difficult things like not eat anything you want and do vigorous exercise in order to see results. And even then it takes time and people just spit the dummy when they don't look like a beach model after 2 weeks.
If Vshred slapped "science based" on his videos and then referenced a handful of poorly done studies he'd be a REAL CZcams influencer instead of just a wooden boy.

A new personal trainer and group fitness instructor, I was looking for some good channels to help me improve my knowledge (without always looking in a boring text book, I do that enough) and explain through the bullshi9t I hear day in and day out at the gym. SO many “experts” out there. I LOVE YOUR HUMOR MIXED WITH SCIENTIFIC KNOWLEDGE!! Only 10 minutes in and I had to subscribe.

I’m happy that I came across this. I did fall for their bs.
If I may share, about 13 years ago I weighed 203 (and I’m 5’0”) I started on the weight loss journey. I ate 4 healthy meals a day, going to the gym 5-7 days a week, I did light weights with as many reps as I could stand and cardio. I lost 84 lbs, though it took 3 years. I have gained 20 back and idk what made me think to turn to VShred to lose that weight.
I keep losing and gaining back.
Irritates me that I didn’t do what I was doing before that actually helped me.

Hey! It's worth noting that we all go through some fluctuations in weight, we all go through periods in which one or another part of our life takes a backseat due to stress, changing priorities, etc. I myself am getting back into the swing of things after having a kid and having more than a couple of fitness derailing injuries, so I believe i know what you're going through. Know that you CAN do this. Believe in yourself, and put in the work and you'll get there. It's also worth saying that just because working out a certain way worked for you before doesn't mean it's going to work the same way this time- not because the science is any different, but because you may not have passion for the same type of exercise. Maybe you can find a type of exercise that suits your personality more in this phase of your life, to be a focal point a couple days a week, and lifting can be geared towards that. Some people find that starting a new sport or hobby (rock climbing, dance, rowing, fencing, Brazilian jiu jitsu, yoga) can help them focus their workouts and gain new motivation and momentum. As someone who actually has a slow metabolism due to other health conditions, my biggest challenge was learning to listen to my body and understand my hunger cues. I had to unlearn the habits of a lifetime of eating because it's arbitrary meal times (I wouldn't have ever told my mum I wasn't hungry!). I now only eat 2 meals a day with maybe a snack if I need it x
I’ve been trying to get my health in check. Depression led to inactivity and easy meals, which are obviously unhealthy. I actually looked at vshred but was skeptical. I decided just to eat less and start slow with more activity and healthier foods.
Seeing your videos pop up and watching through definitely gave me the validation for feeling skeptical. I absolutely loved every moment and learned a few things based on….ACTUAL SCIENCE. Just wanted to say thank you and that I appreciate both the information and the jokes. 💜
Man I remember I fell for the v shred program too. I think I bought at least 10 or more of the pepper extract pills and some other garbage. Didn’t do anything for me. I ended up counting calories and lost 45lbs in a year and kept it off for the last two years.

the "they can eat much food at once" part is so true, I came across so many women saying "they eat much more than grown men", and then I find out they just skip every meal for an entire day prior to that. I ALMOST bought his program in a moment of desperation. I feel stupid saying this now, but I thought he was the only one that knew why I wasn't losing weight like 2 years ago. I had a hormonal disorder and I'm an emotional eater. I was vulnerable and I almost spent my money on him. Luckily I found support. There's NO WAY to lose weight without being in a caloric deficit. I was eating healthy, but way too much. I was exercising, but not as often, not as heavy. Consistency is key.
You'd think they'd realize it's bullshit when the tips about loosing weight or "fixing their metabolism" is things like sleep and drink water (and take a free trip down monetization lane) but I guess not o.O

This is great. I have a friend interested in Vshred. I told her it was another gimmick. For some reason I came across your video. I am a physician and you are right on with your pints and pretty funny too. The problem is there is no ‘one fits all’ program. It depends on starting point…morbid obese versus average American jelly belly. I looked at your other videos and some look very interesting. Right now I am dealing with injuries…so flexibility, endurance and strength being balanced is important to me right now.

I'm thankful these videos exist now. I remember years ago being appalled at my friend for buying his program when I knew of so much valuable information online (which takes work). To my friend a fit guy was a fit guy and he couldn't tell the difference. He bought before I could stop him and there wasn't resources outside of "believe me bro" to show it's all a scam.
Putting the sleezy marketing, stealing content, and everything else aside, my friend's experience was complete trash.
He is a super skinny by nature type and needs to focus on small meals with deceptively high calories to bulk and the "custom built" diet and exercise program based on his body quiz was the same copy/paste garbage they give everyone. Low calorie and fat style with a standard workout. Every meal was lean chicken, broccoli, and rice. The exact opposite for his actually body type.
I'm ashamed to say I fell for it a few years back. It seemed to be advertised constantly and I'd ignored it for ages but in the early hours one evening during lockdown I got brainwashed and curious (just like shopping channels that we can resist until bored, overtired and under-stimulated). You're so right, the diet advice is cookie cutter one size for all.

The first part about not seeing these people, and what they eat all day long totally rings true with me. I can eat a rather large meal like the whole thing plus dessert and even some extra but then the rest of the day I’ll have like a bowl of oatmeal in the morning, one thing of Greek yogurt maybe a protein shake. Sometimes for breakfast I’ll have like two scrambled eggs and a slice of toast but if you saw me at a restaurant you would think how the hell do I stay relatively slim and still be able to eat so much.
I was unemployed during COVID, and started working out.
I had a hard time loosing fat, so I took a job as a Dog Walker. I now walk about 4 or 5 hours a day and I love what I do.
I was 6'3" and 250 and chubby.
I am still 6'3" obviously, but I weigh 230 and am mostly muscle and watching this channel was a BIG part of that.
