Breaking the Bank! Busting into an Antique Piggy Bank *STUFFED* with Old Coins. Forgotten for 80yrs!

  • My local antique dealer, Tim, texted me to tell me he had something for me and to swing by his shop. Intrigued, I went over right away. He had two old piggy banks - filled with coins, that he picked up from an estate purchase. He gave them to me as an early Christmas present, he said! Could this really be stuffed with 80 year old coins?!

I inherited my grandfathers coin collection and it was much like the one you were showing coins that were just put away while they were still new. My grandfather moved to Canada in the early 50s and so some of it was really beautiful dimes and other coins from that time. That obviously had not been circulated for very long. It was cool to go through his collection and see money from all points of his life, and as he traveled later in life money from all over the world.

@@DWCNCThe tombac nickels were, essentially, war nickels. Partway through 1942 they started minting the 1942 nickels in tombac, with the regular beaver design.
