    Try going straight with full amps and wire speed , hold the puddle aiming slightly at the bottom plate , it might seem counter intuitive but the weld will be almost exactly like a triangle

      Great tip. The arc and gas i believe will push the puddle upwards a bit to distribute the weld evenly. Just hold a steady angle.

    Manipulación of the puddle or no manipulation, aslong as you get those settings dialed in to a crisp, do as you feel comfortable and make sure the edges are tying in well. Just keep a steady angle and please practice a dry run or two before striking the arc. Contact to work distance is real important. Should be about half inch to 3/4 from the nozzle to the base material. From my few years of fails and troubles. We learn everyday. But it is able to be mastered guys. Just keep on welding and practicing. Make sure things are visibly clear please. Shouldn’t have to shove your welding helmet up in there. If anything get those cheater lens to attach to the inside of your lens right on top of your lens cover. Y’all be safe.

They come in and leave welds like this that look good but are structurally at risk because of all the movement during the welding process. Then they think they are amazing at welding even tho they just learned last weekend with a bottle of Jaeger and a CZcams account and they won't listen to any advice on how to leave a better weld so they have to be let go.

  • @arkham0078
    @arkham0078 Před dnem

    Guys. Almost 90% of short circuit mig welders do circles or more accurately "half circles." The world isnt falling apart because some people are bad at them. You keep the pattern tucked in the root of the joint, and keep yourself to the leading edge of that puddle, you get good penetration along the root and legs.
    This weld isnt even awful. Lets leave the policing of techniques to the WPS of the job. If their workplace accepts this, then clearly its within specification for the job

      It actually looked like that might’ve been a little high to me. The texture of the puddle rippling like that tells me the gas is so high it’s blowing the puddle around while it’s liquid.
      Edit: they’re also running very hot with a lot of wire being fed. That appears to be RMD or short circuit which is not ideal for that much material being deposited that quickly.

    I don't know the application, but GMAW mig wire is not a pre qualified electrode for any structural application per AWS D1.1
    With that thickness of plate, I'd run FCAW dualshield 1/16" wire.

      1/16" wire? Holy, that would be like 350+ amps, and way too fast of travel speed for a beginner, this looks like a welding school.
