  • In this video you will be watching advanced Meisner student, Sofia Castellanos, performing a monologue from the Spoon River process. In the Spoon River process, actors will tackle many different books, and today’s monologue is Chicken Soup for the Soul: Tough Times, Tough People
“After the Fall” by Samantha Richardson
    About the Spoon River Process:
Advanced Meisner students will tackle a year-long, in-depth monologue class.
In this class, the first monologues we will share will be personal stories revolving around; best childhood memory, most embarrassing memory, worst childhood memory, and a few others.
Then we will tackle a series of books, with actors choosing several monologues from each.
The order of the books we work on is; Chicken Soup for the Soul, Cops by Mark Baker, Nam by Mark Baker, and finally, we will get to Spoon River Anthology.
This process is intense, but very rewarding. It helps actors in many ways including, finding emotional depth and connection to material, confidence in delivering authentic monologues, and memorization of large amounts of material.
