They do such a good job of foreshadowing Kregg is the most reasonable and open-minded of the Viltrumites (giving Mark what is - from his people's perspective - a very generous offer) while still keeping him intimidating af.
Yeah, he told him straight up "We're gonna conquer Earth either way, so, either you can do it your way, and get it done, or we'll just kill as many humans as we can until they surrender. Your choice." Whereas the other Viltrumites would just do it, and wouldn't give it a second thought.
He figures Mark can accomplish the task with fewer deaths than they could.
And probably has some incentive for doing so. Plus it frees up the Viltrumites for other planets.
@@infidelheretic923 That's smart. There's only about 50 pure blood Viltrumites left, and since humans are similar in genetics, they are optimal for interbreeding to replenish their numbers. Killing millions of humans wouldn't be in their best interest.

Assigning Mark gives them a better chance of conquering Earth, since it’ll get done quicker by someone already familiar with the planet instead of sending a new viltrumite to start from square one.

I first thought this was a dumb idea from Kregg but now I realise how much of a power move it actually is. It's either obey them or have everyone he loves and stands for get decimated while he watches while being fucked up by some angry viltrumites.
I thought it was dumber in the comics where Kregg gave him a 100 years to conquer earth.
Till I realise that Kregg was probably being kind to Mark. In a 100 years, his mother and friends would be dead and it'll be easier to take earth without betraying them.

mark actually had 100 years but they went back on their word, first they sent anissa to try and persuade mark to let earth go and then he said no and a few issues later, they sent conquest to finish the job, kill mark and conquer earth but he was stopped by mark after mark caved his head in

While I loved seeing him here, Clancy Brown was one of my top picks to eventually voice Thragg. I always pictured him having an insanely deep voice. They also already used Kevin Michael Richardson for the Maulers. Welp at least there’s still Keith David.

Honestly, and I really mean this, General Kregg doesn't seem like such a bad guy. Like, for viltrumites, the bar is set really low when it comes to compassion, and he not only left Mark alive, but also gave him an option to minimize casualties, and showing understanding for his sympathies.

2. It's hinted that viltrumites are very closely related to humans, and have been genetically modified. In the invincible universe, all humanoid species are related to each other.
I feel like the viltrumites saying "we do not change our minds" are gonna be the ones to change their minds. I feel like people like Conquest or Thragg will just say things like "this is what happens for non-compliance" or "the viltrum empire will take this place" without harping on about not changing minds. Omniman said it, Krieg is saying it here. If Anissa also says something like this, I feel like that will confirm their "tell" of people who may have some doubts/who would be willing to change their mind.
Right now, they're probably thinking "Why would the Great Nolan, one of our most trusted conquerors be so against conquering Earth?" and it probably made them really think about what they were doing.

The only really bad voice acting I can recall from this show is from William in episode 6 when he sees a piece of Rick's brain has been removed. I actually can't believe they used that take, his reaction was so mild.
