Well to be fair, when your lifespan is less than a year, there's literally not much choice. You can either move on and be productive or hold on to grudges and engage in civil war, but for a species with short life spans, that'd risk extinction pretty fast

People have said Nolan has been the nicest full Viltrumite out there, (aside from Mark who is and who is not a full Viltrumite but he cpuld be due to the compatability) its more or less true even concerning what happens with most of Viltrumites after.
When the Viltrumites were ordered to resort blending with humanity on Earth as opposed to a full scale invasion, most of them found themselves having the same sentiments with Nolan and because there is no gripping pressure to prepare it for a brutal conquest, I know Nolan would still be the nicest one especially if he had this opportunity.
When you think about it, Andressa is technically 16 years younger than Mark, which makes her maturity and wisdom all the more impressive

I find it very interesting how the difference in lifespans between the species teaches them different things.
Viltrumites live so long they learn to distance themselves and avoid attachments. Humans live short lives and strive for those very same attachments.
Thraxans live even shorter lives, so they cherish everything that comes their way and let the negatives in life pass them.

Nolan chose Andressa for the same reason he chose Debbie.
Viltrumites were taught that all other life in the galaxy is shorter, therefore beneath them. But Nolan’s partners showed the other side of the perspective.
Because there’s so little time, they use it to their fullest.

Weird parallel that Andressa saw her son outliving his people as the reason he should be with Mark, and that is the exact logic Nolan tried to use on Mark in S1 to get him to join the Viltrum Empire.

Besides Andressa was dying. By the time her child spoke his first word, she would have been dead. Debbie would have lived another 50-60 years.
It's ironic that this is what happened, but there is pretty clear difference in that Mark was able to reach adulthood in his mother's life span while his brother wouldn't do the same within generations of his mother's passing. It's the difference of they don't matter because they all die before you and he should be raised by you because you're the only family that will live long enough to actually raise him.
Although there is sort of a difference, Mark becomes an adult by the time all of his loved ones die. While poor Oliver would as a child experience the death of his loved ones dozens of times before even becoming a teenager, let alone an adult. Noone would remember him as a baby by the time he is a child (5-12 in human age ).
I more see it as the other side of the coin to mark's response to his dad in season one. "I'd still have you dad, I'd still have you"
Mark was willing to give that up to save the earth. She did the same to save her son.

Adressa talking about how her son will outlive so many generations and how it’s torture perfectly parallels the finale of season 1, and the conversation between Nolan and Mark. Really good writing.
Kind of jarring entering episode 5 like this. Like yeah, obviously we're going to pick up where we left off, but it still feels weird after a 4 months break.
You can always do a rewatch. But yea the schedule sucks. No reason not to just do biweekly or something.

Well Nolan came to Earth under false pretenses and then tried usurping the world order. The Thraxans immediately fulfilled Nolan's "purpose" due to their cultural standards and made him their leader, so he didn't have to employ any deceit. Surprise, surprise being deceitful makes people view you as a deceiver.

@@kris0375I feel like the reason for him being able to catch up to older, and therefore supposedly stronger Viltrums despite being so young is going to come down to whatever part of his human genetics remain. Nolan said he was practically full blooded. If Viltum dna is so dominant than I can’t imagine a human weakness wouldn’t get overridden. Whatever part of mark is still human is probably the key to his strength
Not much stronger per se, but DEFINITELY more pain tolerant.
In future, especially the last fight, Mark's pain tolerance comes into play a lot. A lot of his enemies really never knew defeat or think mark is out for the count. Ironically, him getting bodied so much at the start is something thar eventually does make him... invincible.

I have to say, even with the long wait, they never fail to impress me. I love Invincible
Like what Nolan said, Viltrumites age slower then humans, they can lived up to thousand years. He told Mark everyone he ever know would be gone before he would like a 30-yr-old man. A life he doesn't want Mark to have. His time on Earth changed him before he could realize what he had. Similar to Andressa people, Thraxans age much faster, while Oliver would slow down as time goes past as his Viltrumite DNA would kick in. Viltrumites learn they shouldn't form attachments while Thraxans learn to cherish the life they have before their passing. Two different race with different ideology.

Maybe not right now , Battles beast only appeared in the show in one episode as a henchman , and in the first season's final as a cameo . We have to see more to get more interest in him , and I Say this as someone who did not got the chance to eead the comics . Interesting the similarities between this episode when she talks about her son growing slower and everyone around him dying before he is even an adult and season 1 episode when Nolan tells mark the same thing. What will he have in a 1000 years?
The only difference is, Oliver wouldn’t have Nolan like mark would have. So it only makes sense for Mark to raise Oliver now and be a fatherly figure to his brother.

The TV show is much different then the comics omniman became the king of thraxan rather then Kragg and omniman only had one wife where Kragg had many. A few of what's left of the viltrumites went and tracked down Omni man for his treason and killed many of the thread people and the fight omniman and invincible 3 of the where killed but one hidden viltrumites sneak attacks omniman and breakshis back and takes him away tetnracans then viewed Mark aka invincible as their new king and he stays for a small while where in the comics mark becomes rhe new king of thraxan for long time

Waiting on episode 6. Amazon needs to allocate funding and prioritize to this show as it’s their number one. Can’t keep waiting years for only a couple episodes. The long-lived have interesting issues, to be sure. One of the better anime in the last year or so is _Frieren Beyond Journey's End_ where an experienced Elf revisits her comrades and realizes that "a while" for her was the span of their lives. A couple had already passed, in fact. Mortality, Longevity, Family... all are real concerns. And the anime is apparently quite beautiful in its examination of it as Frieren decides to tackle it all head-on rather than stand aloof. Mark has that same experience now. I suspect he always knew in the back of his mind... once he leaves, that's it. They'll be gone before he could come back, as well.
Incidentally, his brother's quicker aging will likely slow as his Viltrumite traits gain more prominence. Andressa is anything but stupid and knows this. Honestly, she's doing what a wise mother might or even should do... making sure of her child's future, then entrusting him to it.
