I think you can compare Carnival, Royal and Norwegian because they are all basically mainstream cruise lines. I would say Holland is more upscale and should be compared to Princess and Celebrity. Just my opinion.
Agreed
I agree that HAL had the best quality from my limited experience.
Past few years Carnival quality did drop, but our last cruise, on the Jubilee was the best ever for the line. That said, we have gotten some really great meals at the buffet when we were in a hurry to not miss a show. Princess MDR has been our worst experience by far, but they had the best evening buffet of any line (I will go for a great Indian buffet any day!). Just my opinion.
I have never been on holland, but I have been on the other three, and they are all good, but I would say Celebrity is definitely better.
I don't know where they all came from but YUMMMM. Kinda guessed RC... and HA looks super! Any way you go, we're fans of the MDR! Nice video!
We all have that shrimp cocktail friend! although I do agree with him lol
I feel like the MDRs come out even for me!
The missing tablecloth instantly gave away which pics of food were from Carnival 😃
Oh wow! I've been on the same 4 cruise lines. And I have to say Holland America wins, hands down. Even the room service was off the hook.
Love the soft dinner music. LOL.
Well, I have to say that the Celebrity Equinox, in January 24' And Royal Caribbean Radiance of the Seas, in October 23' had the best food in the MDR! Every night Elaine and I were blown away because the food was great! The Equinox also excelled at the buffet!
So far, all the other cruise ships on all the other cruise lines... in the end have been been pretty much comparable. Except our 2 cruises on MSC, which were a little lower, than the others. Just our opinion.😋😎
All dang good.
Great to know, our first cruise, coming up soon, is on board the MS Volendam.
Good picks Jamie. I agree. But Celebrity and Princess come above Royal and Carnival and Norwegian for me!
Celebrity & Princess should be a better dinning experience. I mean they are premium cruise lines and you pay a premium price.
Jamie I think you’re spot on.!!! I hope you and the family have a nice holiday! Hello from Clearwater Florida.😊
In the past year I’ve been on NCL RC and Carnival. By far the most flavorful was on the Carnival. I was surprised because my favorite used to be NCL but the flavors have gotten kind of blah. Carnivals options were along the lines of my food likes with menu changes in the past year.
I've been on 1 NCL cruise. Never had an issue in the MDR. I'm going on a Royal Caribbean cruise in November, so we'll see what happens.
The funny thing is that I picked out both Royal and Carnival because I had never been on the other two. I guess I know my main dining rooms 😁
Based on my personal experience, the top 3 are Celebrity, HAL, and Princess
Jamie. Thought you did a great job. Food varies for sure. I’ve only sailed on Royal. Going on Carnival for first time and the meals look very different from Royal. Looking forward to trying the food on Venezia.
We have been on Carnival (five cruises total). The MDR has been average at best. Their special dining is much better. Will need to try more cruise lines in the future.
Fun video… Thanks so much I really enjoyed it!!!🚢
I think Carnival beats Royal for MDR. Quality, in recent years, has gone down for both to save money and to push cruisers to pay extra for specialty restaurants. With Royal’s most recent menu changes, I feel like they have fallen below Carnival. I haven’t been on Icon, so it may be an exception. It should be with the premiums they charge for it.
Agree that HAL has great food in the MDR. Celebrity too.
Pre Covid, my only Celebrity cruise, thought that was best. Also, only Carnival trip was then and the MDR was better than I thought it was going to be (Sunshine) the buffet was awful though. Did like Guy's and Blue Iguana. Most of the rest of our trips then were on NCL. Since we've been on Princess, MSC, NCL, and RCCL. Overall, I think food quality has suffered on all of them. With the big prices in food and fuel, I can understand. I'd rate MSCs food last thought we love the ships, value and crews. We can drive there the morning of the cruise and also love their private island. We've never gone hungry...
This is good to know. My next 2 cruises are HAL and NCL. lol
While i agree that Holland has great MDR food, it is a slightly different class of cruise than the other three. It is a more premium line.
Another point to the dining, at least for me, is the quality of the accompanying wine list.
That being said, however, there is a slightly different perspective to consider. While the MDR might be better on premium lines, I suspect casual dining is far better on the main market lines. For example, i mostly sail on Celebrity which has incredible MDR food, specialty restaurants and a good buffet. Where it lacks, however is the grab and go options that the main market lines offer. A single burger place on the pool deck is a far cry from the options that Carnival, Norwegian or Royal Caribbean offer.
Carnival horizon had the best mdr of all, and rc enchantment was the worst. I honestly believe that it depends on the chef in charge and the crew at the time because the quality of the mdr varies by ship.
The second one was easy because of the bread plate showing.
We had some friends go on RC Radiance of the sea and they said the food was terrible. Just saying.😊
Why Holland - because they have the best burgers 😁🤣LOL
norwegian cruise line looked nasty not going to lie.
Msc sucks
