My grandpa surprised me with a wii after I had surgery on both of my feet and I was in a wheelchair during the recovery. It was awesome being able to play games with the wii remotes with my next door neighbor Diego. I actually used the Wii fit balance board with my physical therapist when I learned to walk and stand again.
I remember when I had a Wii, I used to play Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort all the time. But I replaced it with a Nintendo Switch, and then Nintendo Switch Sports came out and it had a remix of the old Wii Sports music, it brings back memories…

When was a kid my parents used velcro dots for the censor bar. When i saw you place tape for the censor bar, it just reminded me of the time before we added the velcro dots

Some may think that 2006 was the best year of gaming- but to me, it only exists as a painful memory that just doesn’t go away. I got a Nintendo Wii for my seventh birthday on November 28th, 2006. About nine days after the Wii launched. I still remember the moment when my dad gave me the present and I quickly tore it open. “Wow! A Wii! Thanks, Dad!” I said happily. After that my dad had a bit of work to do, but I begged him to help me set it up. What surprised me about the Wii was the controller. It reminded me more of a TV remote. After my dad set it up, he left me to play. I was going to play Wii Sports- which was the Wii’s pack-in game- but something else caught my eye. The Mii Channel. I decided to open that up instead. When I got to the Mii Channel, there was a single Mii there. I hovered my cursor over him and found out his name was… ‘Eteled’. The name Eteled didn’t make any sense to me until I looked closely at the letters. I realized it was backwards for ‘delete.’ I took a good look at Eteled. He was bald with a big smile, giant eyes and a small nose. He started to creep me out a bit, so I decided to delete him. I then decided to make a Mii version out of me, so I clicked the Mii Creator. I named my new Mii Kyle, after myself. But then when I got back to the Mii Plaza, Eteled was there again. Staring with the same, creepy look. I deleted him again the first chance I got after that. I was still kinda creeped out, but I decided to just forget about it and play some Wii Sports. I liked Wii Sports- it was like a compilation of five different sports all packed into one game. The sports included were tennis, baseball, bowling, golf and boxing. I clicked on bowling since that was my favorite sport. The game loaded my Mii into a bowling alley with many other Miis and occasionally as I played I’d see in the lane next to mine do their throw. About halfway through the game, I saw a familiar Mii. A bald Mii, to be more specific. It walked up to the lane next to mine. It winded up and threw the ball and got a strike. The Mii then turned around to celebrate and that’s when I saw it. It looked exactly like Eteled’s. I thought I deleted him! I guess I’ll just have to delete him again. I quit Wii Sports and went back to the Mii Channel. Before I could delete Eteled, something weird happened. Eteled actually started speaking. His voice, however, was incredibly low pitched and distorted. “Why are you trying to delete me?” After Eteled said that, I spoke out. “W-What do you mean?” What was I thinking when I said that? Of course Eteled wouldn’t hear me. But to my surprise, he did. “Are you kidding me? You know what I mean.” Eteled said with annoyance. “I-I… just don’t want you in my Mii Channel! Y-You’re creepy and you’re just… creeping me out! I’m sorry…!” “Oh really? Mii’s have feelings too, y’know. How would you feel if I deleted you?” The screen then cut to static for about five seconds until it came back to the Mii Channel. The screen was just a closeup of Eteled’s face. His pupils were huge and his expression was furious. With every second that passed, he seemed to get angrier and angrier. I pressed the home button and ran to my dad. “D-Dad? There’s something wrong with my Wii!” I cried out in a terrified voice. I led my dad to the living room where the Wii was and turned it back to the home menu. Surprisingly, it looked normal. “What? He was right there! I swear!” “Kyle, I think you’ve just been playing a bit too much. You should take a break.” My dad told me. With reluctance, I heeded his words and did what I was told. As I left the living room, I swore I heard my dad mumble something to himself quietly. I didn’t catch what he said before he left. After the break, I came back to the Wii and closed the paused home menu. Though, when I did, an animation played of my Mii getting deleted in front of me. A dialogue box popped up that simply read ‘Goodbye, Kyle.’ before the Mii Channel automatically closed and forced me back into the Wii menu. I tried to get back into the Mii Channel but everytime I did, a box would appear that said ‘Wii deleted you.’ and take me back to the home menu. I slowly began to realize that Eteled deleted me in a way that I couldn’t make any more Miis. That meant- no matter what game I played- I was always forced to play as Eteled.
I got one last summer from a value village for $40. I had one my mom got us years ago when it came out but lost it sadly. Happy to have a Wii again and didn’t realize how many great games there are. I got the godfather and Scarface recently for Wii and absolutely love those games
When I was 8, I would play Wii sports with my brother and sister so much. That game made me so many good memories, and seeing this video reminded me of them. I miss the times when we would all hang out and not fight and argue over stupid things. Now my brother is 17 almost 18 and he is gong to college next year. How time flies so quick.
