  • In this video I am following the FSM and Preston's instructions on flushing the coolant system. I made this video because I watched many other youtubers not flushing the 80 series correctly. Without flushing the engine block you could be leaving residual debris in the cooling system which may cause premature failure of the water pump and other components.

    Great video, thanks for the detail on this as not many people are mentioning the block drain. Should be a huge hit for 80s owners getting ready to service. Take care!

      Thanks Mate. I hope people get more aware of the block drain as a lot of debris gets drained from there.

    That’s a great video. Definitely something I need to do on my 91. And yes, that’s the first video where I’ve even seen that other drain mentioned.

      Josh, if your coolant is super dirty don’t try and do this in one day. Put some flush in it as soon as possible and drive it around a few days.

    Thanks for this info, the manual makes no mention of any of this. So I wasn’t clear if you ran the engine just with distilled water without the housing (@5:15min) on at all.

    Sounds like you need a valve adjustment

    Similar drain plug location on the FZJ80?

    • @airborne1283
      @airborne1283 Před rokem +1

      James, I would assume the FZJ80 also has the drain plug on the side. Even the 1HZ diesel engines had them

    Any idea why a radiator could leak while it’s running but not leaking while it’s off? My 80 started leaking yesterday during a warm up

    • @landcruisernut8654
      @landcruisernut8654  Před rokem +1

      Your radiator is leaking when the vehicle is running because the water pump is applying pressure to the cooling system

    Do you have the part number for the two L shape heater hoses you talked about that went to the thermostat?

    • @landcruisernut8654

      The hoses are 16264-61010. The clamps are 96135-51300
