I ran into the same problems trying to get the wheel hub off, many hours spent and nothing worked. I took sand paper to the axle shaft by reaming it around as specially near the wheel hub then cleaned axle with a mixture of fingernail polish remover and gear oil mix in a spray bottle. Then I stood the axle up so one side is against concrete and put an impact socket or whatever is bigger than the 3/4 shaft and wacked it a good one 👍 with a big hammer which pounded the shaft on even further. Then I had the end of the shaft exposed enough to sand, clean and lube it too. Suddenly it pulled right off. So in order to get it off you have to pounrd it on further first onto a clean shaft. Note: if you remove that clip off of axle you will have more room to use sand paper. I used various grits of used sand paper I had laying around but whatever grit works to make her shine before pounding it on further.
I am Getting rid of that scooter now
replacing it with the one in the new video "buyers guide to used mobility scooters"
this is why i take everything apart especially wheels and put antisieze on everything
if everybody did that, or God forbid, they did it from the factory servicing. These units would not be a problem, but they do not want you to service these units. They want you to replace them.
If we all lived in a place that didn’t snow or use salt most of these issues would not happen
Should’ve put a flat tip screwdriver into the first split you ground into the hub and then twisted. Spray some more penetrating oil in there whilst twisting. Or use a square shaft pry bar with a crescent wrench on the square shaft for increased torque if the screwdriver ain’t twisting hard enough to widen the split. Square shaft pry bar and crescent wrench also works great for removing stubborn oil/grease seals from bearing hubs... I bet a couple BRRRAPS with an air hammer would have tilted the negotiations in your favor early on. Works every time for getting flywheels off of small engine crankshafts. I am stuck right now with a wood chipper drum that won’t come off the other end of a crankshaft. I’ve tried everything other than splitting it, or using my jackhammer. Thermal, chemical, kinetic, mechanical, hydraulic.. all means I’ve tried, and combinations thereof. Won’t come off. Only thing I’ve ever seen stuck worse was a centrifugal clutch on a golf cart crankshaft.
Of course I paused it and made this comment and then when I resumed was the part where you broke out the chisel lol
Thank you for sharing your tips to remove Rusty shafts much appreciated
Ray
Thanks
Where's part II?
I got one with a differential that didn't turn good I took it apart and it was all good except for the grease after cleaning out the grease I put in new lithium grease and it's like new. Actually better..
That’s awesome news.
How many people would’ve been afraid to take that apart?
Thank you for sharing good news

@@raysfixlithium grease🤔🤔🤔🤔. What is that static grease🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hello, I need some information from you! I have to change the oil in the engine reducer from my electric trolley! Can you please tell me what type of oil is compatible and what series of oil to buy?
For me to help you I need more information
Need to know the make model year and what type of scooter it is
On a mobility scooter there is no actual oil
It is only grease in the transaxle
If you have a different type of scooter or a gas powered propane or two-stroke motor they require different oils
Provide me with more information and I might be able to help you

you don't need the stuck screw out, it's a plastic cover just bend it a bit out the way to get the axle out.
I guess you’re talking about the side piece that comes down the internal mudflap I guess you could call it
I did end up bending it over the way the problem what that is is it rubs up against the tire a small amount every once in a while makes a rubbing sound
anyone know of a place that rebuilds transaxles. i have 3 pride legend xl that 2 have gone out, when the last goes out they are discontinued. ive been looking for awhile now. the gears go out, i have like 5 transaxles that ive held on to incase i find a rebuilder
where did you get the trailer from? Thanks TC
ScootaTrailer
It’s manufactured in the US
They’re quite pricey
Hi, do you guys do rebuilds? I have a afikim, I like tge machine, but it has stopped working. It also need the front panel restored or repaired, it happened when a car hit Mr coming out their gate. If you do that and can also change the batteries, non wet batteries, but the new ones I would appreciate it. Please give me a quote that would include everything, even what I have not mentioned. Thank you. TREVOR VALENTINE
Thank you for taking the time to reply.
Unfortunately, I only repair my father scooters.
Did it stop working after the accident ?
A broken panel is not that big of a deal
It could be a direct order replacement part.
Battery should be replaced every 2nd to 3rd year depending on use and storage method.
What’s the car moving? When I hit the scooter or did the scooter hit the parked car?
I mention this because the scooter only weighs a couple hundred pounds a car weighs a couple thousand pounds, and there might be other damage mechanical that you cannot see
another little bit of advice
If you’re getting gel batteries because you didn’t want deep cell or wet batteries
The cost will most likely be more than the value of the scooter
I hope this helps all the best.

Hi
The car were coming up the drive way, the fence were +6ft so I had no idea that it was there, and it knocked me as it break onto the pavement.
The scooter were working, as I had it repaired, it got wet when the cover over it blew off.
After I charged it, it would not display any lights etc, it was completely dead. I would like to get a quote if you could help Me please. it is the Breeze and the section where the front basket sits that is broken, and that is the part I would like to have repaired or replaced. Is there any way of increasing the distance I could travel on a charge, that was one of the reasons I wanted to change the batteries.
I think they are probably past usability as I believe this scooter is plus 10 years old.
Thank you for your quick reply, where are you people situated?
Again I would be grateful if you could give me a rough estimate of what it would cost to repair it.
I look forward to you reply.

AUSTRALIA
Hi Trevor, I would love to help you, but unfortunately I live in Canada. I’ve only been to Australia once and that was 12 years ago.
Surprised you didn't try applying heat to it. A little propane torch therapy works wonders.
I could have tried that
will keep that in mind next time
thank you

A bit of oxy-acetylene with a small tip would've told that hub were it should go.
Dude that hub didn’t come off because you put the bolt back on that help it in place, then put the wheel puller on it wasn’t coming past the bolt!!!!
I does look that way but at 19 min mark you can clearly see that the hub and nut are about a 1/4 inch away from each other
camera angles are tricky
I tried using more cameras but editing became more of a nightmare
thank you for the comment

Got a lot of projects that just grow on to have a life of their own. You’ll win if you don’t give up.
I'm thinking on buying a used mobility scooter but I hear a rubbing noise on the back left wheel. Do you have any clue what it might be? I'm hoping it's not the trans-axle. Thanks.
Is it a rubbing that comes and goes like intermittently
Sometimes there’s a small inner fender it’s just a straight piece of plastic that prevents dirt and debris from flying off the tire and hitting the motor check to see if that’s it
On the scooter after I took the motor wrote and replaced it with another one instead of properly fasting all the screws and I kind of bent the fender and then put the motor back in and it rubbed only for a short period of time
Another thing that I would suggest is getting a couple of bricks putting it underneath the wheelie bar wheels lifting up the backend off the ground basically and then taking a mirror with a light on it one of those extension mirrors and then having somebody spin the scooter and then you look to see what’s rubbing and what’s not rubbing you can do that from a standing position almost or knees bent without having to get on the ground on your back
I hope this makes sense
all the best
Ray
@@raysfix Yes it's intermittently, Every 12" I guess. Thanks for the advice. It's a Golden Companion 4w scooter in pretty good shape and comes with a motorized truck ramp that swings out for $900.00
@@Fallguy615Intoit
Does it only squeak when you push the unit forward or will it squeak with the back end jacked up And you turn the wheel independently
Does the squeak absolutely come from the back or is it possible that the squeak is coming from the front?
hope u don't need the hub, after cutting it on both sides all it need then was the hammer and chisel.
I tried everything I could do to get that thing off and it was welded together with rust
have you ever found out if any one has any internal parts, like the pinion you broke?
You can order the parts from the manufacturer I did at one point in time find the part number but I’m not sure if the part was available or not
It would not be cost-effective to get the part because it was very expensive if I’m remembering correctly
@@raysfix have you ever found any reason why the pinion breaks? my scooter is over 8 years old, and High mileage, I use it around the house and take it in the pits at the drag strip, I have a newer one, I use mostly for shopping and dr's appointments, curious to know if the is a limit to how long a transaxle lasts.
@@carlballinger844
Luckily I was the one on the machine when it broke we were going up in extremely steep hill and it’s snapped it was an extreme amount of pressure on it
This hill was part of a walking trail I wasn’t offloading or anything silly like that
But it was super steep
The dangerous part is when something like that breaks you don’t have any breaks at all
So I was going down that hill when I got turned around at full speed and I’m glad that my dad wasn’t on the unit he was on his newer unit
My best guess is it’s an older unit and fatigue and extreme strain
@@raysfix my old one I've abused, since receiving the replacement ,for three years, carry bags of heating pellets with me, take out the garbage, up a moderate inclined driveway, when it broke, the shaft broke in half, still give me motion, but at a cost, it would quit, if it vibrated too much, and had to recycle the switch, sounded like a honda four banger when it broke, but was quiet backing up, either way, I found a little used replacement matching transaxle, maybe wear internally, or constant stress, or old age, caused the failure, took me by surprise when it happened
I was hauling firewood from a cut up tree log, so ya not recommend that extra weight my worm gear snapped in half just like this video. Not sure what to do now😢
Good grief/. Have you not heard of WD-40?
looks like u have an 8 mph that's broken, and the scooter you got is 4 mph, the clue there is the size of the motor, 4 brushes vs 2 brushes.
What is the name of the broken part?
trans-axle
they will not sell you just the gear
my scooter whel is lock wont turn
Need more information than just enough
Need the circumstances leading up to the wheel not turning
Which wheel is it front and back
Was there some kind of trauma did you hit something
because the unit been sitting for a long period of time just one wheel turning and not the other wheel
That’s kind of like going into the paint store and saying give me a gallon of paint
@@shopandmath the right wheel is locked it locked all on its own no trauma at all a guy says sounds like the bearing
ronald ferreira
It is possible that it’s seized bearing
That would’ve given you some warning and you would also have felt some grabbing on that side
There’s a Bearing on each end of the shaft and usually when a bearing goes it falls apart
Your electric break is on the right hand side of the bike
But what about all them cogs the nobody's rave on about 🤔🤔🤔🤔.. ii's a electric motor that's why 🤣🤣🤣🤣Nerds make shit up
